Hi Lesley, I am also researching Jeremiah and Emeline Carter of Caledonia Co., Vt. for my husband who is descended from Fernando J. Carter. I read your message about Hazen Blanchard Carter. He was born 2 Dec 1841 Vt. His father moved to Franklin Co. Ar in the late 1850's. He is at Prairie Twp.,Franklin Co., Ar in the 1860 census, Hazen married: Elizabeth F. Banfield b. 10 Apr 1847 Mo.. Hazen died 27 Dec 1906 prob. N. Campbell,(outside of Springfield, Greene Co. Mo). Elizabeth d. 9 Mar 1920 N. Campbell, Greene Co., Mo. Her parents were Qualls Banfield born in Tennessee and Lucy Warren also born in Tennessee. Hazen and Elizabeth are buried at Bellview Cemetery. I was just there last weekend. It is a little country cemetery outside of Springfield, Mo. Their Children: Sterling H., Lucy J., William Sherman, Henry Blanchard, Essie L., Mary Etta, Emmett A.
I do have some more information of this branch of the Jeremiah Carter family. Like you I am trying to find the father of Jermiah. I printed the copy of the "People of Peacham" that was sent to you. I have the book "History of Boscawen and Webster." and I agreee this Nathan is not the Nathan of Boscawen. I noticed also that Jeremiah Carter in "People of Peacham" put his birth at 1830, this does not square with the census of 1850. His birth is 1803-04.I noticed also that his brother is Thomas. I found in the 1850 Peacham census that Thomas had a Sarah Carter living with his family she was 79. So possibly a Nathan and Sarah Carter are the parents just not the ones from Boscawen, NH.
If you want to share information on the Carter family, I would be happy. I have a few photos of graves, some death certificates things like that.
I also have more information on Hazen and Elizabeth's children.
just email me at dallasfortney@sbcglobal.net
Hope I have been of help.
