Ron, thank you for your response. Yes, I'm aware that there are less than scrupulous folks in all aspects of the adoption triad. I was not adopted by another family member. I have my revised birth certificate. As you stated, Washington sealed my original record. I even have the Order of Adoption. They did an excellent job of blacking out names... I have been in contact with Judge Johnsen's daughter--Judge Johnsen was the attorney who handled the adoption. Nothing. When I contacted the State of Washington Human Services I was told that my case for unsealing would not be successful unless I could prove a medical necessity. My mother and I both submitted letters to the State in the event a birth family member wanted to make contact. I will look into the confidential intermediary. Thank you for your advice and concern.
