Hi Maggie, The marks in the age column that look like 'dittos' are just marks to indicate a blank entry, not dittos. The only ages given are those for the children in the muster, adult's ages are not given. (The ancestry indexers made the same mistake) Below him is his son Thomas aged 7, born in the colony. Thomas snr was aged 35 on the 1828 census, so he was actually about 23 when he was transported. Also be aware that everyone on the 1828 census has also been wrongly indexed by ancestry. They have subtracted their age from the year they arrived in the colony, instead of the year the census was taken. Duh!
Hope this helps
Debra

Hi Maggie

From Colonial Secretary Index at www.records.nsw.gov.au

SUMMERS, Thomas. Per "Atlas", 1816

1824 Jul 24
Servant of Isaac Bartholomew of Evan; testimony as to his character for a ticket of leave (Reel 6027; 4/1716.1 pp.31-2)

1825 Nov
To be granted a conditional pardon (Fiche 3292; 4/6974.1 pp.47, 72)

Index to Pardons at same site:

SUMMERS Thomas - Atlas 1816 154 CP 6 Sep 1832 [4/4432] 775 - 309

You can order a copy from the site.

Possible death in 1837 aged 50 (from www.bdm.nsw.gov.au), this would make him born c1787, so 29 when he arrived in NSW. Can't see an early marriage for him.

Good luck
