Just seen your generous offer for free look-ups. I am looking for a relative of mine. Are you able to help?

I am trying to find any information about one of my ancestors. Charles left home in Gloucestershire England when he was just 14yrs old, in about 1872 and the family always believed he went to Australia. They apparently did try to find him (though I don't know how) but with no success. His parents and siblings all subsequently emigrated to the USA where they settled in Ohio whilst my branch of the family remained in England.
This is what I know of him:

Charles Wellock born in Bilston Staffordshire in 1858.
Parents William Henry Wellock & Susan Wayman (or Wyman).
Home in the 1861 + 1871 census. In 1871 he was living with his parents in East Dean Gloucestershire, England & working as a labourer in a Pit.

Any help you can give me to find what might have happened to him would be gratefully received.

I am looking for any information on my ggg gf James Barron who married Mary ?. Eventually settled in the Nowra area NSW, Australia. He has 3 children between 1842-51. I think he may have been a convict transported on the Norfolk but I may be wrong.

James Barron arrived per the Norfolk in 1837. Mary Foot who arrived on the Planter in 1839 requested permission to marry James and this was approved.

Regards
Lesley

I have tried to find this Charles Wellock, and have come up to a brick wall in Australia.
But i have found a Charles Wellock, he was on the Philadelphia Passenger list.
It stated that he was born around the same time as your George and departed from Liverpool England
and arrived in America on the 29 Jul 1884 and he was listed as a Miner.
I hope this is your George that you have been trying to find.

if you would like any more help, just let me know

Take care
Vicki

I have had a look and found the same info that you seen to have. I also looked at my 1841 census and could find no James Barron as well. But as mentioned before, i hope to receive the books and CD's on the Norwa area in the next week or two, and that should have the info that you are looking for. I will let you know as soon as i find them.

Take care
Vicki

Thanks for that Vicki, from the tidbits that I have found so far it appears that James Barron "arrived per the Norfolk in 1837. Mary Foot who arrived on the Planter in 1839 requested permission to marry James and this was approved." is the one that I am chasing. Any further information would be appreciated.

Thanks again
David

Thanks for trying Vicky. I suspect this is not him as I know my Charles left home in 1872. However, I will take a further look in case I can find any link perhaps to another part of the family - Wellock is a fairly rare name. Thanks for trying.
