William STORRIER was born in July ? 1800 in Dundee, Scotland to parents William & Isabell SHEPHERD.
He took the trade of butcher and was a convict on the 'Henry' in 1823 to NSW.

He married Margaret REGAN in 1831 or 1832 ??
Would there be a 'Permission to Marry' ?

Hi Fred, It seems your William misbehaved - he was sent to Tasmania in 1844 on the Governor Phillip (there is a notation that he had been to NSW on the Henry, so it is your William) He travelled from Tas to Melbourne in 1851 (free by servitude) Unfortunately his records are some of the few that are not online, but you can request copies of his indent and conduct record. Go to http://portal.archives.tas.gov.au/menu.aspx?search=11 and you can search the convict database and the shipping departures to see these entries. The link to order copies is on the search page.

Hello dj72green,

Yes, thank you. A marriage and three children in Tasmania. I can't find his return to Tasmania from Melbourne nor his return to NSW after the birth of the third child. A search for Mary turns up nothing so far.

Hello car6m2ody,

Thank you very much for all that data. I was especially looking for the permission to marry and a confirmation of the date of the marriage. I've seen it listed as Jan 1831 which I thought didn't add up.

Do you know if William was born on 2 or 3 Jul 1800?
He was baptised on 6 July:

06/07/1800 STORRIER WILLIAM WILLIAM STORRIER/ISABELL SHEPHERD U Dundee Dundee CITY/ANGUS 282/ 0080 0415

I have birth dates for four siblings born 1792 - 1807 but nothing at all on a fifth ?, Thomas.

Did William and Margaret REGAN have 5 or 6 children?

If 6 then I'm missing data on a Julia ??

Regards,
Fred

Hi Fred,

The William STORRIER you are looking for is a direct ancestor of mine (my grandmother was a STORRIER). I have many years of research on him that I'm happy to share - if you'd like to send me an email to trottingfilly@hotmail.com with your details, I will send you the files I have.

I think there may be a little confusion with the Tasmanian connection though; I will look into what dj72green posted but I feel it's not the same person.

FYI - William was born on 10 July 1800 to William STORRIER and Isabel SHEPHERD, and died on October 6, 1856 in Goulburn NSW and was buried there the following day. He was predeceased by wife Margaret in 1851, who is buried with her parents, also at the Goulburn cemetery. Obviously I have a lot more research, certificates and all that I can send on William and his parents and descendants.

I look forward to hearing from you, there's not many of us STORRIER researchers about!

Regards
Desiree
