Hi Pam

A ticket of leave was issued to a convict not long before his sentence expired. It allowed him/her to work and live within a defined area away from his/her place of assignment.
Go to www.sag.org.au and you can search them under data bases.

Chris

A ticket of leave is an indulgence, a reward for good behaviour, whereby the holder is permitted to work on his own account within the District for which the ticket is issued. It is transferable to another District. The holder is required to obtain a ticket of leave passport if he has to travel outside the District for which the ticket is endorsed.

Family members who have been researching this family over the past 30 years have documented proof that this man could not be the person that you are looking for. If you search further this information is available.

There is no proof that the father was an Irish Convict?
