Beau, I don't know if you're aware, but Alfred and Ellen Woodbridge lost four children in quick succession between the years 1880 and 1882, including a son who was born in 1882 and died at three weeks old.

Just a suggestion, but perhaps the two mothers had known each other in some way during the pregnancies and births, via, perhaps, a midwife, doctor or minister of religion?
