The parties were married in March, 1898, at Carcoar, according to the rites of the Church of England.
I am not related. There are three index entries for the birth of Vera Margaret:

13444/1910
AIKEN, VERA M
Parents: Father not named & ELIZABETH
Registered at CARCOAR

13444/1910
HANLEY, VERA M
Parents: Father not named & ELIZABETH
Registered at CARCOAR

13444/1910
TOSHACK, VERA M
Parents: JOSEPH & ELIZABETH
Registered at CARCOAR

I am confident that this birth certificate will show that Elizabeth was unmarried at the time of Vera's birth, was using the name HANLEY (nee AIKEN), but Joseph TOSHACK has been present at the registration and agreed to have his name recorded as the father.

Amy and Doris are both indexed as HANLEY and AIKEN which indicates that HANLEY was not the father, and Amy is also indexed a third time as FIELD.

Vera does not appear to have married, there is no marriage registration under either AIKEN or TOSHACK, so technically her son's name would be AIKEN.

Oh what a tangled web!!

Debra

His parents are named as Patrick BROWNE and Julian BURNS (which possibly should be 'Julia').

Honora's parents are Daniel DWYER and Moll?
Hi jswann,

Looks like the parents of the couple who married in 1936 (Dorothy RUSSELL and Walter Samuel PARKINS), were fighting in 1914, when Dorothy was a baby.

The Tamworth Daily Observer , Friday 13 November 1914:

William Russell, (40) appeared at the Tamworth police court yesterday before Mr. H. P. Roberts, P.M., to answer a charge of havlng on November 6, stolen two sheets, two quilts, and one blanket of the value of 15/ the property of Samuel Parkins. Mr R. J. O'Halloran appeared for the accused. Constable Bell deposed that about 4 p.m. on the 6th instant he saw the accused lying isleep in the yard of the Great Northern Hotel. Witness took him to Parkins' Hotel, and confronted him with Mr. Parkins. At the lockup he showed accused the two sheets' and counterpane produced. Witness .....

OR, is this the other William RUSSELL who was in trouble a lot, at Tamworth?

Mary

No marriage record for a John and Benedicta.

The only “HARDS” couple in early records were Thomas and Ann.

Searching for more about the above mentioned couples may give a clue?

Looking at marriages.....don't know if this is the same John as above?
A John HARD married in 1838 to Mary BROWNE in the district of Gundaroo, Gunning, Yass.
TROVE has a report of the death of John HARD in 1845.
And in 1845 in the same district a Mary HARD married Randal HEYDON

Rhonda

Thanks MargM, Thought I would chance asking. Looks as if this line has come to a dead end. Not to worry, more curious than anything. So many of mine have disappeared so nowhere for me to go. Father may have changed his name, perhaps to get out of paying maintenance. No amount of enquiries of whereabouts at his Divorce could find out where he was. Thanks, Syljun

Hi,
Thank you for the wealth of information and so quickly, I thought my inquiry might have been a long shot. Yes , as you
see Lily's parents were Sampson and Eliza. Hadn't found a death for Eliza as well as for Lily, and didn't know about the extra children, so I can now fill in the missing gaps in this branch of my tree and add, as well, all the extra information that you have supplied. Many thanks again.
Regards
Richard

Unless, the family can help with who his father is, you are not going to find out, if it is not recorded on his birth certificate.

Is your grandfather, that you refer to, the partner of Florence in 1909?

From austcemindex.com website, a photo of Florence's headstone:

Inscription for Florence Marion Wray
Cemetery: East Maitland General
Family Name: Wray
Given Names: Florence Marion
Birth Date:
Death Date: 27 Jun 1971
Age: 84y
Remarks: née Fergusson; w/Frederick
Portion: Pbn
Row: 23

I cannot locate a matching death on BDM's, for Florence. There is one in 1971, for Florence Marion BYRNE, but she apparently died on 09.08.1971.

From Archives Investigator, simple search, website:
Florence Marion Byrne - Date of Death 09/08/1971, Granted on 28/10/1971.

Frederick WRAY
Regimental number 5663
Religion Church of England
Occupation Stock and station agent
Address Bunarba, New South Wales
Marital status Married
Age at embarkation 38
Next of kin Wife, Mrs Florence Marion Wray, Braeside, East Maitland, New South Wales
Enlistment date 1 March 1916
Date of enlistment from Nominal Roll 25 February 1916
Rank on enlistment Private
Unit name 17th Battalion, 15th Reinforcement
AWM Embarkation Roll number 23/34/3
Embarkation details Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board HMAT A14 Euripides on 9 September 1916
Rank from Nominal Roll Private
Unit from Nominal Roll 17th Battalion
Fate Died of wounds 27 February 1917
Other details War service: Western Front
Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal

He was Killed in Action on 27.02.1917 (not 1916).

Mary

Hello Mary I have just discovered a Frederick Wray, Miner and Florence Wray, Home Duties on the 1910 Kalgoorlie Electoral Roll. They lived at 5 Porter Street, Kalgoorlie. The voting was done in May 1910 from what I can gather. Interesting to see what I come up with. Thanks Jennifer

Hi Kellie Florence Ferguson Wray was my Grandmother and lived with me in Elwood, Victoria before she passed away in a nursing home just up the road.
I did not know about Dad's (Walter John Wray) birth cert until 3 weeks ago. I had Frederick Wray's WW1 service records but 1 page was missing. Form Z3 (Pension application) where Dad was named Walter Jack, Stepson to Frederick.
This has been bothering me for a few years as I saw the page on the AWM site by accident. After visiting Fredericks grave in Martinpuich, France last Oct I thought I would find out. Regret it now of course, so am now on a mission to find Dad's Father, who may of course be Frederick but they didnt marry until 1915. Thanks for replying. Jennifer

Henry Davis/Hards

I am after further information in regards to Henty Hards/Davis, my great great grandfather. As you will see in an earlier thread Henry Davis's death certificate was found after much work. However it had no information on it in regards to his parents. He died in Lidcome State Hospital and after seeking and going through the process of being granted permission to access his health records I found there were none. I am trying to determine his DOB so I can then search for his parents. I have also applied to NSW BDM to do a search for me but it appears that there in no information. I think part of the reason for this is because he may have been born Henry Hards and later it was changed to Henry Davis. There is a birth certificate for Henry Hards born 01 April 1840. This age fits with his death certificate. He died Dec 1934 at the age of 94 but there is no DOB on the Death Certificate. What other options are open to me to positively confirm my Henry Davis DOB and if he was born Henry Hards? Appreciate any help anyone can give me.
