Abraham/Beduhn family

Paula  (View posts) Posted: 10 Mar 2000 5:26AM GMT
I am searching for relatives of my Gr-Gr-Grandparents. Johann and Charlotta Beduhn Abraham who came to USA with their family in 1868. They came from Gruenenwald Pommern and settled in Winnebago Co. Wis. Also August and Friedericke Wruck Beduhn who came from the same area and came to USA in 1863 and settled in Winnebago Co., Wis. Have quite a bit of information to share and would like to find others who are searching the same two families. Thanks.

My gGrandfather, Julius Beduhn was born in
Neu Sonskow, Pomerania in 1859. He came to
US as a young man and ultimately located in
Two Rivers, WI. I have some sketchy info obtained from a distant cousin.

Jon Teske, Olney, MD, but WI roots.

Beduhn Family

Got your message. Don't think that there is a connection at least not yet. My Beduhn Family came from Gruenewald-Neustettin - Pommern. My gr gr grandfather was August
Michael Beduhn, born 28 Sep 1832 in the
town of Gruenewald. Son of Otto Beduhn.
I knew about the Beduhn line in Two Rivers as my husband came from there, but I was never able to find a connection. Did
your gr grandfather Julius have other siblings? That might be a way to go back and see if there is a connection. Keep in touch as will I. Thanks for writting.

in your records - is there a connection between Freibergs or Kiepers? the Beduhn family seems to have been close enough to both of the above for a Fritz Beduhn to be a witness when my grandparents were married
this was in Black Wolf - Winnebago County - Wisc in 1905

To Paula Spaeth:

Have you located your family on the other side of the ocean yet? The LDS films that I'm currently looking at contain all of the above names.

My gr-gfather's sister Wilhelmine Sophie GUMZ m. Carl ABRAHAM in 1834 in a small town in Kreis Belgard, Pommern, Prussia. A daughter of one of her brothers m. a BEDUHN in Juneau Co., WI, in the 1880s. Both Sophie and her brother died and are buried in Elroy.

Many of the people in these small towns in what is now Poland migrated to WI and IL in the 1870s and 1880s. Elroy City Cemetery has in it people named LUEBKE, MANSKE, etc., all names which I've also found in the records on microfilm.

Currently, I'm trying to find out if Sophie and Carl ABRAHAM had more children than Johanne MUELLER and Louise MANSKE, and how the BEDUHNs tie in earlier to the family.

In 1865, the ship Hoffnung came from Hamburg to Quebec. There were Gruenwald passengers who made their way to Black Wolf, Winnebago County, WI. Their surnames were Nimmer, Laude, Abraham, Beduhn, Naehring, Freiberg, and Luebke. From a distant cousin, I learned that August Beduhn came ahead to scout the situation, and these people followed. I have information on these families, sketchily on Naehring and Beduhn.
