Caleb Antrim is in my direct lineage. All I have concerning the mother of Caleb Antrim is from a Marriage Application from the Adams County Clerk, Illinois in that Caleb only gave the name of his mother as Hannah Antrim.

There is a Hannah Antrim who was the daughter of Aden Antrim. But if she married an Antrim then Caleb Grandfather, on his father side, would not be Aden Antrim. Unless she Did Not get married then only one side of her family would be Aden. It would be nice to follow the line of Caleb's Father.

I am assuming that the mother, Hannah Antrim, is the daughter of Aden but I have no idea.

Carl,
In the collection of papers, (Harriet S. Antrim) there are what I can only describe as proof sheets (with no sources)of descendancy, possibly for new edition, amoung which I have Thomas and Prudence with a total of twelve children. Clyde's information conforms, closely, to what I have with just one more child and that is a Thomas b. 12 Feb. 1750, presumed to die young because of Thomas b. 1763. I'm sure I've seen correspondence concerning this family and as soon as I find it I'll be in touch.

okay, where do we start? First and foremost remember that what I have is coorespondance over 100 years old submitted by a relation of yours (probably)to a very serious genealogist doing a family history book. So, on one hand the information is undocumented but by its' nature, fairly accurate. The reason I believe this to be true is that no one wanted to look foolish submitting false information because the purpose, originally, for the research was an inheritance in Ireland that turned out to be bogus. People wanted a piece of the pie and they weren't going to mess that up if they couldn't back up their genealogy.

Harriet Stockton Antrim did a remarkable job, considering she wasn't a trained genealogist, to verify information for the book by travelling extensively, in and out of churches, universities, libraries and court houses. Her notes and coorespondance prove out the extent to which she cared to do a proper job. My goal is to present a forum wherein I can share the hand written contributions our grandparents or great-grandparents to save the history of the name Antrim...

What I hope to do this weekend is have a friend scan the pages I have and I'll send them in an e-mail. The information may or may not be new to you, but I'm sure this was written by relatives. I've been studying them more and think I have an idea of how the names may tie in.

Mrs. Jane (5th Cooper child) Hasler prepared many sheets on the descendants of the children of Thomas and Prudence (Hancock) Antrim. Most of these sheets concern your line, but one concerns the Thomas Scattergood marriage to Martha Antrim. Mrs. Jane (Cooper) Hasler gave contact information seperately for eaxch line. For the Scattergood line, the contact person was Ms. Olivia K. Everly. There is a tie-in: Everly/Scattergood...

The Cooper pages list the nine children of John and Ann Cooper and their spouses. For some of them, there is another generation of information. Example: Silas Hall and Abigail Cooper, their children and then grandchildren. As previously stated, Jane Cooper married John Frederick Hasler, and they had two girls. 1) Anna married Wm. Henry Lightstone. 2) Mary (no marriage listed)

For yor line, children of Nelson and Nancy are:
1) Newton A. Cooper m. Igora Ja**ell
2) Robert Cooper m. Matilda Tappen
3) Ma*** (can't read the writing)
4) Louisa Cooper m. Robert Steele
5) Margaret Cooper m. Fred M*** (not sure)
6)Ellis Cooper m. Ada Reiff
***all spellings subject to scrutiny*** Please give me the correct spellings that you may have

Its interesting that no dates are given for this line wheras, the others all have dates for birth, marriage and/or death.

There maybe more info. to be gleed from this collection. However, taken from Ancestry.com Census collection, I found 1850: John W. Cooper w/ Cynthia and children and evidently mother-in-law, Phebe Taylor, brother-in-law, David Taylor. The relationships are just guesses. 1860: no Taylors with John and Cynthia. 1870: Phebe Taylor back living with them. Your line, 1880 Nelson Cooper w/ family and 3 houses away, son Robert, Matilda and children. I also found other children of John and Ann that ended up in Missouri in 1880 and then 1900-20. Have you tried finding John Cooper prior to 1850, in the census?

Any questions, just ask, I'm learning too...

Stuart

Hi Stuart, this is what I think I know about the Antirm/Ewing/cooper family. Prudence Antirm Ewing's daughter
Ann Ewing Married Rev. John Cooper, After they were married
they moved to Butler Co. Ohio...it looks like a group of people went to Ohio, Godfrey Antrim, Aden Antrim, and
Prudence Ewing Atrim...I don't know if they all went at the same time...John and Ann Ewing Cooper had at least six kids
John Wesley, William, Nelson B, Abigail, Jane, Isaac... Dr.Nelson B Cooper was my 3rdG Grandfather, he married Nancy Taylor...John Wesley Cooper married a Cynthia Taylor, however I don't know if they are sisters...My Great Grandmother said
Nancy was, Nancy Antwerp, from Antwerp Ireland, I wondered if she meant (Antrim) because there is no Antwerp Ireland and Nancy Taylor Cooper is from Ohio not Ireland...
I'm confused ...anyway I wonder if Nancy Taylor Cooper is also a Amtrim decedent somehow...as for Jane Hasler and Miss Olivia K.Everly, I don't know how they fit in...sorry...Nelson B Cooper moved to Indiana, He and Nancy had Seven Kids...
I have an Thomas (Antram) Antrim and Prudence Hancock as part of my linage. This Thomas (Antram) Antrim is my GGGGGGrandfather. The information I have indicates that they had a daughter, Prudence (Antram) Antrim, b Aug 1768, d. 28 Mar 1853, married 1789 to an Edward Ewing.

This information came from "Encyclopedia of American Quakers Genealogy" by William Wade Hinshaw, vol. II. On page 165 list Thomas & Prudence (Antrum) Antrim and 4 children, Sarah b, 3/16/1749, Godfrey b. 2/22/1753, Alice b. 2/22/1757 (I have an Aden born 2/22/1757) and a William b. 4/1/1759.

I would appreciate any information that you may have concerning the family of Thomas and Prudence (Antrum) Antrim family and the source.

Carl Antrim

Some good news and not...
There is a group of seven pages of descendants of Ann Ewing and John Cooper. So my memory hasn't completely failed me. Unfortunately there is nothing concerning John's parents.

An interesting aside is that the pages are pen and ink on plain unlined paper. At the top in a different hand and ink is written "mailed from Oxford, Ohio Dec.28, 1898" On one of the pages, it ends that generation saying "for further information contact Mrs. Nelson B. Cooper, Liberty Ind." (Interesting for me because an ancestor of mine laid out the plot plan for N. Liberty, Ind. I need to research this more thuroughly.)

It would be a big help if you can tell me the connections w/Jane Hasler and Miss Olivia K. Everly. I'm not sure as to who wrote the sheets and who researched the information. If you're interested, the research has just begun. Back in Miss Antrim's day research was less rigid than todays' standards. Her notes are written on the front and back of 'anything' all in pen and ink...
Thats how I can tell the different decades that information came from. Information was collected by her nephew well into the 1950's.

I have five binders of top-loader sheets w/letters and notes and have just begun to get a handle on what I have at hand.

Stuart

I never did this before. I am the descendant of Benjamin Frank Antrim, born about 1878 in Juliustown, NJ. He started Antrim Hardware Co. in Camden, NJ. My father, Benjamin Franklin Antrim Jr. inherited the business along with E. Hulings Antrim , his cousin. I eventually inherited the business along with Hulings son Jim Antrim. We sold the business in 1985. I was a career naval officer (Commander,USN) and retired from active duty in 1986 followed by 12 years as a hospital engineer. I have been a flight instructor for the last 10 years. I am married to Yvonne Henderson from Oil City, PA. I met Yvonne in San Diego, CA while stationed there in the navy. We have one child, Sunny Antrim who is an associate producer for NBC. I have 2 other children from a previous marriage to Margo Mikusinski of Williamsport, PA. 2 children from that marriage, Cheryl and Maurie Antrim both residing in Orlando, Pa.

My grandmother was an Antrim from the Quaker line out of Burlington Co. N. J. My grandfather (Woolman) also an old Quaker family from N. J. (Both late 1600's Burlington M.M.) You can find my postings going back 5-6 years, so I am committed to genealogy research and have collected books and essays on the subject.
I'm in California, so I understand the issue of transport. I'd be more than willing to pay for commercial-packing and shipping.

You can contact me directly-- 2tallwoolman@sbcglobal.net

Stuart Woolman

Antrim genealogy family book and notes

I have come across a lengthy collection concerning the Antrim family of Burlington Co. NJ and would like to see this get to an interested researcher of this family. It was compiled by a M. Zelly and her brother William. There are many other surnames but Antrim seems the main one. Besides the family book, there are 3 large notebooks, multiple letters(some as early as 1857)and newspaper clippings
Would prefer to find someone locally(Burlington Co) as there is too much to mail. Also only want compensation for the $15.00 it cost me. Bev

Re: Antrim/Edwards

Re: your post indicating that Rebecca Edwards Antram is the daughter of Archibald Edwards & Nancy Harvey. Do you have source for that because I have a copy of the will and probate records of JAMES B. EDWARDS of Warren County, Ohio dated November 19, 1846 in which he names REBECCA ANTRAM as HIS daughter (he leaves her $20.00). His widow is named Nancy Edwards (maiden name not given) but there's no proof that she's the mother of Rebecca or any of the other children mentioned. In addition to Rebecca Antram he mentions other children "eldest son Larkin W.B. Edwards" and "youngest daughter Nancy A. Edwards". Also a "minor child" Harlan A. Edwards is named. He names sons Larkin Edwards and Rezin B.Edwards his executors. James B. Edwards died c. February, 1867 (date the will was probated). Just thought I'd pass this info along. If you have any sources for your info I'd appreciate it. I have several Edwards connections to my Haynes and Ham families and it's been hard to straighten them all out.
