      <description>CORTLAND, Ohio - Thomas W. Apthorpe Sr., 70, passed away Tuesday evening, Jan. 4, 2011, at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren, Ohio.(Trumbull County)&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He was born March 30, 1940, in Orangeville, Ohio the son of Thomas H. and Nellie Eva Haun Apthorpe.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;After working 22 years for Copperweld Steel in Warren, Ohio he retired in 1986 as a millwright.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He formerly attended Maranatha Church in Warren, Ohio. &lt;br&gt;He was a member of the Pymatuning Valley Resort and the Mecca Moose Lodge 1012.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He enjoyed hunting, shopping, traveling, watching TV, playing cards and was quite a jokester.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He married JoAnn Morrison on Dec. 13, 1959. &lt;br&gt;She preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 2009.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He is survived by his wife, Judy Waid Apthorpe, whom he married Nov. 28, 2009; a daughter, Denise K. Simpson of Cortland, Ohio; two sons, Thomas W. (Melissa) Apthorpe Jr. of Fowler and Roger (Carrie) Apthorpe of Shawnee Hills; two stepsons, Jeffrey Waid of Bristolville and James Waid of Cortland, Ohio; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Bently of Sharon, Pa., and Shirley Giering and Patricia Fonce, both of Cortland, Ohio; and a brother, Terry Apthorpe of Niles, Ohio.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He was also preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mabel and Bonnie.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Friends and relatives may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Galloway-Onstott Funeral Home, 3451 state Route 7, Hartford, Ohio 44424.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Burial will be in Westview Cemetery, Vernon.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Mahoning&lt;br&gt;Trumbull&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Orangeville is a village in Trumbull County, Ohio</description>
