Looking for information on ancestry of William Barrington (b abt 1800, Ossory Diocese). He married Elizabeth (Eliza) Oakes (b abt 1805, Ossory Diocese) abt 1826, and lived in Coolkenna Townlands, Co. Wicklow. They had a daughter, Elizabeth (Eliza?) b Feb 12, 1837 d Dec 15, 1912). Griffith's valuation (1839)shows a William Barrington as a labourer on land owned by Earl Fitzwilliam. William may have married a second time to Mary Driver in the mid 1850's

William's father may be of the Co. Wicklow Barrington's or, the Co. Wexford branch. He appears to be my brick wall.

I have substantial infor on the Irish and, the English Barrington's back to abt 1025) that I am willing to share.

Any info would be greatly appreciated

I'm sorry I don't have any information on the Barrington's of Co. Wicklow, but as you mention that you have a great deal of information on Barrington's more generally, do you have any on the Barrington's of Co. Clare, mostly located in and around Ennistymon before and during the time of the famine. I would appreciate anything you have. The furthest back I can trace this (my) line is to Patrick Barrington, married to Mary Stack, both of whom were probably born in the early 1800s.

I'm sorry that I have no information on Patrick Barrington or Mary Stack. I have, however, seen them referenced as belonging to family trees listed on ancestry.com, so there must be some information out there.

The Barrington's of Limerick (and Co. Clare) seemed to arrive about 1690 in the person of Samuel Barrington who was possibly born in Dublin abt 1649. The Barrington's (some were knighted and some were Barons) were very prominent in Limerick. I would assume that your Patrick is probably related.

If you email me at rosenorm1@gmail.com, I will send you further info and some web sites on Barrington history, both Irish and English.
