I have just traced my Barringtons back to 1745 in Albany, New York. I don't know yet when they got there or from where.

Barrington's were a prominent English family and, date back to before William the Conquorer in 1066. They were also prominent in Limerick, Laois, Dublin, Wicklow, Cork and Wexford. If you have a family tree program, I can send you some info. If you don't, there are a couple of decent free ones on the net.

You can contact me at rosenorm1@gmail.com. There are also several websites I can give you if you are interested. A William Barrington (1799-1865)of Co. Wicklow was my ggggrandfather.

Hi Ali:

You can try myheritage.com for a free family tree program.

There are lots of ways to do your reseach. Use familysearch.org, ancestry.com (free access is limited), genealogy.com (free access is limited), Cindi's list, message boards and, a lot of info is available through Google.

If you are interested in some old Barrington history, try www.tim.ukpub.net/barringtons/bar.

Good luck
