Hi Mary...

I've come to learn that anything is possible...however, I think that the name "Emaline/Emeline" may have been the 'popular' name at the time. We have not found where her father James Beach is from. All we know is that he was born abt 1794-1797 and that he first shows up on the Garrard Co, KY tax lists in 1818. There is an older female, Nellie Beach, living in his household who 'pays' the taxes in 1827(?) and we are presuming that she is James's mother.

James married Elizabeth Loyd, marriage bond posted 2 January 1821 and married on 7 January 1821, Garrard Co, KY. To this union were born Emeline/Emaline, Nancy, John, Matilda and Joel.

Do any of these names sound familiar? Thanks...Kim

I would love to hear more. My ggrandfather was William Parker Beach. His daughter, Mary Emaline Beach, married Isaac N. Griffin, I believe near Oneida NY. They moved around and finally settled in Ithaca, NY where my grandmother was born - and eventually my mother was born in Mary E. Beach's house. I have often wondered what drew them to Ithaca - relatives would explain that.

Thank you.
Mary Stevens

This caught my eye because my ggrandmother was Mary Emaline Beach and thought there might be a connection since family names were so often passed down. My ggrandmother was born in NY, as was her father, William Parker Beach, a Civil War vet from the 44th NY, wounded at Gettysburg and married his nurse in York, PA.

Thanks
Mary

Lord Beach-(surname or title?), Grandfather of James Beach of KY

This query is in reference to James Beach, born abt 1794-1797 (in Virginia or the Kentucky territories-parents unknown) married to Elizabeth Loyd, born abt 1805 (in Viginia or the Kentucky territories-daughter of John Loyd Sr and Hannah Kyler) who married 7 January 1821 in Garrard Co, KY and lived in Garrard Co, KY until removing to Ripley Co, Indiana. By and through their daughter Emeline/Emaline Roten Beach, born abt 1821 Garrard Co, KY who married Jacob S. Seaver, born June 12, 1814 in Scott Co, VA...

A letter dated in 1953 has just recently been found in which a great-granddaughter of Emeline Beach and Jacob Seaver is writing to various "Seaver" relatives and asking the following questions:

She writes:
"1) Was Emeline Beach a granddaughter or great granddaughter of Lord Beach?
2) What was her father's name? [James Beach[]
3) What was her mother's maiden name? [Loyd]
4) What part of the country did they come from? [VA or the Kentucky territories]
5) Did Lord Beach have more children than the two sons?
6) How many?
7) Did you ever hear that Lord Beach went to Kentucky with Daniel Boone?
8) Did Lord Beach's son who was the drummer boy in the Revolution ever marry?
9) Is the story you have heard of Lord Beach any different from my version?
There are a lot of books on early settlers in different parts of the country and if I knew where the families came from I might be able to find them.
10) Do you know any interesting stories about either the Seaver or Beach families."

We have been unable to 'find' the parents or origins of James Beach mentioned above until he is first documented in the 1818 Garrard Co, KY tax list. From 1818, he paid taxes in Garrard Co, KY until 1830, with the exception of one year, when the taxes were paid by Nellie Beach (in 1827?) Nellie Beach is presumably James's mother who was living with them. It is abt 1831(?) that the James/Elizabeth Beach family removes from Garrard Co, KY to Ripley, Co, Indiana.

I am hoping that someone has some information about Lord Beach and his origins/descendants that may shed 'light' on the family of James Beach.

Also, any information as to the 'Roten' name possibly being a surname that is being passed down would be appreciated.

I can be reached directly at mulecrk@gvtc.com

Noticed your note and pic of tombstone for E. J. Beach. My grandfather Charles (don't know his full name) Beach, ran away from home and ended up in Franklin, Simpson Co., Kentucky. He named my father, Charles Alvidore Beach. I noticed in that same Mt. Olivet cemetery, a lot of names similar to my father's middle name. I always thought that this must be some name of perhaps grandfather's mother or grandmother. Eugene Beach did a little background work on our family and thinks we descend from Thomas. The name (Charles) is found only in that family. Get back with me if you have any pertinent info, and I will share what Eugene gave me. Thanks for your kind reply.
His son just said he would pass the message along. I don't think he is interested. He's a clay sculptor with his own site. I was going through some old letters written by Beach family members to my grandmother many years ago (probably 40) inviting her to Beach family reunions. I followed up with some of the names to find the son but am at a dead end.

Does anyone have any photos or family bibles etc. from the Ransford C Beach/ Lucretia Sibley children? I'm hoping for quality reproductions of photos of Ransford or Sylvester Lafayette and/or wife Electa Rand. I think Lucretia died to early for photos but there may be renderings out there somewhere.

So very glad to hear from all of you. This is the first time in 40 years that anyone has replied with the name Albert L. Beach. When in the Central American states he went by Alberto. I do not know about the last name. His wife, Emma Roberts, died there and I have not found out anything about when or where he died. I know he had two children, possibly born in California, the son's name was Frank. I am not sure but think the girl was Alice. His passport says he was a dentist.

Solomon Fay (SF Beach) Beach (newspaper man), wife Florence E Galbreath

I have some information on Solomon Fay Beach, the owner of Fenton Independent Newspaper (Michigan) in the early 1900's. I also have some information on Florence Galbreath's family, was written in a publication as Galbreach, which is incorrect. I have found what I believe are their grave markers (along with their son Robert) on findagrave, with their death years on them. I was wondering if anyone might have knowledge of how any of them died, or their actual death dates. I also am looking for information on their daughter Ruth Beach born 1905. I also have come across a record of a death of a Florence E Beach in 1915, the funeral home billed SF Beach, and it looks as if it was a child born on the 3rd of July, passing on the 4th of July of 1915. I am wondering if anyone has knowledge of a 3rd child being born that died shortly after birth or that was still born.
I'm more than happy to help if you are looking for more information on any of the things I do know about.

I have a pro working on this, so if I come across any info that might help you, I'll let you know thru Rootsweb. Regards! NitaP.S. My grandmother on my mother's side was named Frances ROBERTS.
Albert follows the same ancestral route that my dna chart shows for my Beach family. Have any men in your family done the DNA testing? We have and are registered with the program. Only way to know for sure is to compare the DNA profiles. Our Beaches are R1b1b2a1a4. We're not sure what state my grandfather came from as he ran away from home at age 16. We can find no records of him except in Simpson Co. KY in 1880 thru to about 1895. He worked worked for a railroad. Was injured and died on the job. I would recommend the testing if you have any of your male line left. I'm getting my husband's testing done to trace his German acestry back into Germany and France. Good Hunting! Beach is listed in the 1910 census living in Marion, WV, son of R O Beach age 42 and Lucy Q Beach age 38, Oliver age 4.

Your previous entry listed a Lucy who died in Washington DC.
1920 census had Oliver F. living in Washington DC,
1930 census had Oliver F. living in Washing DC, spouse Aldora E.

Currently, I do not have a subscription to Ancestry and access to all the information available. Possibly, someone else could give you that information.

If interested I could send you the names of Oliver, b. 26 June 1786 children and you could search for a connection. I, also, have Oliver forenames in my family.

I see another address for him in the phone book in Southfield, MI and his son, Josh, lives in Ann Arbor, MI. Boys: Henry, Leon, John, Russell (my GGFather) and Warren. Girls: Winnie and Emma.

I can inquire more, but info that I have is Frank Henry Beach. The Beach name has been out of the family a while. I do not know any male Beach to inquire about the lineage.

Upon reviewing my master lineage file, I have a Henry Franklin BEACH, b. 21 Feb 1869, Lexington, Sanilac County, Michigan; d. 21 May 1933, buried Lakeside Cem., Port Huron, Michigan; married Lydia Priscilla HENRY. This union has 8 children listed. The 8th child listed is Henry Franklin BEACH, b. 22 May 1908; d. 22 May 1908.

My first question is, which is the correct names? Henry Franklin or as you stated Frank Henry? Second, I would like to add the 4 additional siblings and their children to my data base, if this is possible.

Also, do you know of a Beach male from your line that would participate in our FTDNA DNA Project? If so, it would assist in determining early generations and if your lineage is derived from John BEACH.

I can be contacted at DKBeachFam(at)aol.com

Funny thing is that I found the "beach family journals" online and told my mother. The family was amazed this was about 2 weeks before the site went down and I have been kicking myself since for not at least getting the information. I have been trying to track down the connection again, but there is a gap to published information.

My Grandmother was Mary Boulier (Beach). Her father was Russell LaVerne Beach (Married Fonda Marion Reed). His father was Frank Henry Beach (Married Lidia Henry). Mary Boulier (my Grandmother) had 12 children which were all listed on the website. I was trying to contact Eugene to give the detail on the 20+ grandchildren and there children.

Any connection you can give me would help. I believe that we are of the John Beach Branch. Thanks.

I also know that Eugene made a publication in the Church of Latter Day Saints in Salt Lake City. I travel to Utah often and am trying to plan a day in the library.

We have been trying for sometime to contact Eugene. The Beach Family Journal web site was run by his son Josh and tried to contact him too, but to no avail. It would be kind if you to travel over to see if this site could be continued. It is too valuable to be shut down. Hundreds to sites link to it. Maybe some of the Beach researchers could float the cost.

Kind regards,

John H.
Did you get this family straightened out yet? Do you know of paul Beach who married your GRANDMOTHER Viola Cavagnaro?
I may be able to help you so far as the Beach generations before him.

I have a complete compy of Eugene's published research. I think it is copyrighted so I cannot make copies but will look in the idex for you, as time allows.

I think it is in the New england Geneology Society Library and a few other places.

As researchers and people with inquiries we owe a LARGE debt of gratitute for Eugene's tireless work.
