My cousin, Larry Boyle(s) and I believe it is possible that our ancestor, Robert Boyle of Bedford Co, VA (1751-1834) may be the brother of John Boyle of VA/KY, wife Jane Black. Our research leads us to believe the father is Alexander Boyle of Bedford Co, VA. Larry has started w/ DNA testing and if you are a John Boyle direct descendant, we would love to compare DNA results. Pls contact me if interested. Thanks..

I am looking for the 1910 and 1920 census information on Concetta Boyle, who was born in 1909 most probably in Brooklyn or New York City. Concetta had a brother James Boyle born around 1913. Her mother's name was Elizabeth. I do not know her father's name. About 1921 her mother remarried Francis Mann and they had four more kids. In 1930 the census says they are living in Brooklyn and Concetta is working for the NY Telephone Company. Any information on Concetta would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking for information on the Boyle family in Mattoon, Illinois. My grand-father John Boyle was born there and had 3 brothers (Jacob, Joseph and Richard) and a sister (Mary). My grand-father eventually moved away and ended up in the Washington, D.C. area. He and his brothers and father all worked on the railroads. I believe Joseph married Katherine Nacke.

My great-grandfather was named John Boyle and came over from Ireland as a child and eventually some (maybe all) of the family settled in Mattoon, Ill. I'm trying to find out where in Ireland my great-grandfather was from so I can continue tracing down my roots.

Both James and Mary (b. est. 1830) were born in Ireland. Children: Margaret (b. Ireland Oct 1849) and William (b. NY Jun 1862). James assumed dead before 1870 census (name from recollection of a relative). Mary & Margaret came to US, approx 1850; found in Albany, NY in 1870. (I don't know ship/port etc. I have no idea where in Ireland they came from.) Margaret marries Peter O'Reilly est. 1865 in Albany area. Children Mary, Charles, Anna, Catherine, Peter, Margaret, Florence. William through 1900 lives w/Margaret's family, in Albany. Unknown after that where he is.

Does this family sound familiar to anyone? I have more on "younger" generations of Margaret's but who is James' family? I'm clueless as to how to go about figuring that out. In immigration lists I don't have anything to use to know which James Boyle is the right one.

On son Alvin's Social Security App her first name is poorly written but looks like Constance with the middle intial clearly I. Elizabeth died between 1930 and 1937. That is all I have but I am looking for anything in Elizabeth's past, her parents, origin of birth, place of burial, anything. Thank you.
Anybody recognise this soldier's photo?

This photo was recently found in a deceased relative's possessions.
Message on back reads "Brussels December 4th 1944"
Regiment appears to be Highland Light Infantry (Glasgow) (HLI).

Mystery:
My mother never knew her father but her mother gave her a badge shortly before her death saying it was the only thing she had by him - this badge was of the Kings Own Scottish Borders (KOSB). My mother's half brother remembers taking letters to the Post Office for a soldier who stayed with them during the war (who was Scottish or Irish). They were living in Kendal at the time. There were Territorial Units of the KOSB stationed throughout the Lake District (no soldiers records available!) and some of these were later fed into the HLI.

The name we have for my mother's father was Martin/Martyn Boyle but we have no more info.

Does this photo mean anything to anyone and do they recognise it as Martin Boyle?

Michael O'Neil

Joseph Whiteside Boyle 1867-1923- Klondike Joe, mining tycoon, First World War and National Hero in Romania, Cananda' Indiana Jones.

Born in Toronto, Canada 1867 to Charles Boyle and wife. Have tons of information on Joe, but very little is told about his father's Charles Boyle.. I know Charles had two other sons Davie and Charlie, besides Joe. and a daughter Susie.
But I need to know about Charles's parents.

Taken from a old family letter writen by Edith Anna McBride Culver in Canada to family member.
"Klondike Joe Boyle was out to the gold mines and did pretty good and in some way he helped the Queen of Romania and there was quite a lot written about it for a while and he was always refed to as Klondike Joe. I did have some new papers around for quite a while but do not know of their where abouts now. Any way Eliza Boyle was 1st cousin to Joe's father Charles Boyle."
So I need to find out about Joe's dad to find out about my family. Lots is written about Joe Boyle, but can anyone help with the rest of his family????
Donna

James Boyle

I have traced my family back on my mother side to Matthew Boyle (b 1806/d 1872). The records for Matthew starts in Haddington East Lothian Scotland in 1858 with his marriage to Ellen Smith. Then in 1887 his son Thomas Boyle (married to Mary Ann Burgess in 1887) moved to Dunbar Were my mother was born in 1930, who father was Matthew Boyle (married to Elizabeth Brownlee Dinnie in 1922). On the death certificate Of Matthew Boyle age 66 Sidegate Lane Haddington 1872 it has James Boyle (labour) as his father, no mothers name on the certificate. I have not found any records that match a James Boyle having a son Matthew around the dates i have in the scotish records or if James or Matthew had any brothers or sisters. It is possible that James & Matthew might have over came from Ireland. One of my uncles had a copy of his family tree sent to him from a different line of the Boyle family and had Bartholomew? as Matthew father. I do not know were this came from as on the certificate i found it has James as father?

Wilkes Barre Times Record
Mrs Hannah Boyle Dead
Shortly after 6 o'clock last evening Mrs Hannah Boyle died suddenly at the home of Mrs Kelley in Railroad St. Deaseased was well advanced in age but was able to get around until the hour of her death. She ws born in Castlebar, County Mayo Ireland, and when quite young came to this country. She first took up her residence in Wilkes Barre, where she was united in marriage in the old St Mary's Church. Her husband died several years ago. Two children were born, Miss Winefred and Rev P.J. Boyle a regularly ordianed priest who is in the west. He only lived a few years, passing away in early manhood.
After leaving Wilkes Barre, Mrs Kelley lived in Sebastpol, in the west, and at Pittston and Scranton, but of late years she made her home here. She was a devout catholic, and was charitable to Catholic institutions. A memorial window was placed in St John's Church for her som Rev P.J. Boyle. The only near surviving relatives are a niece, Mrs Jas. Burke of Sebstapol, and BJ Conlan of Church St a nephew
(note-typed as it appears, don't know if the second mention of Kelley should really be Boyle)

Rosanna is listed in the City of Mobile, Alabama directory in 1844. In 1861, she is listed but not Hugh Edward. In 1870, she is listed as widow of Hugh E and in 1871 as widow of Edward. Where in Ireland did they come from?? What was Rosanna's maiden name? When did they marry? Daughter Maria married John Pocase in Mobile in 1856, they are my g-g-grandparents and any information on Rosanna and Hugh would be greatly appreciated. If you are connected please email me. Thanks again for any help on this couple.
