According to the "Parish Records of Boyle RC Parish, County Roscommon, Ireland, POS 4607, National Library of Ireland", a Patrick McDermottroe married a Catherine Brennan 29 Dec 1824. It appears there were at least 5 children born to them: William, Patrick (13 Mar 1826), Edmund (Edward) (1 Jul 1831), Michael (29 Jul 1833) and Ellen (Eleanor) (24 Jul 1836). I believe Ellen (Eleanor) is my Great, great grandmother. If so, the McDermottroe family currently living in Copse, County Roscommon are direct descendants, probably through Edmund, and my relatives. (My grandfather was born in the home of an Edward McDermottroe of Copse in 1864; his mother's maiden name was Ellen McDermottroe.) I have been told there were several Brennens living in the area of Copse which is a tiny townland of about 226 acres about 4-5 miles west and slightly north of Boyle. It would be wonderful to find other connections to this family.
