Doug:
I also show a Henry Bridger in my line ...born about 1500 near Godalming, Surrey ... his son Richard did marry a Margery Eliot and they had a son, Lawrence who moved to Gloustershire and was the rector at Slimbridge. As to Henry's forefathers ...one source suggested that he descended from Joh le Bruggere who was reported to be living c. 1294 at Bridge Eng, River Wey ,...there is a Weybridge in Surrey just ourside of London (south)... about 10 mi. NE of Godalming. Another source, the Family Histoory Resource Center (where you purchase family histories and coats of arms)
says that the Brugere line came from Picardy, France ...and the Bruge line came from Normandy ... I also see some soources in the 1500's and 1600's in the Surrey area with Bridges ...and r can look like an s and vice versa. Good luck; let me hear from you.

Doug & Libby:
Gloucester is tihe city ...a couple of miles west of London , almost to Wales. Gloustershire is the county. Berkeley and Dursley are parishes in Gloustershire....go to the Gloustershire genealogy sites in UK and see the layout ...also check Surrey Co. area of Godalming and Weybridge (almost a suburb of southern London)for earlier Bridger
forefathers. Get out that atlas and magnifying glass! Ellen in MS

I found a source that Henry was decended from Walter Le Brigere born 1327. Walter was decended from John Le Bruggere born 1224. John Le Bruggere was AKA John De Ponte. Anyone else know of this connection?

Interesting find Don, what source would that be? Its possible that I can confirm it in Surrey's Historical centre.

All the best

Hello, I am looking for information about a Mitcham Surrey England man of the 1800s who inherited a very large estate from his father James MOORE d 1851, but though he is called son in the court documents, he did not use the name MOORE, instead had name James BRIDGER. If you or anyone reading this knows more about these men, I would love to hear from you.
