my Bridget Brown was mother to 14 children ( many of which died very young )one of which was Jefferey James Morris d.o.b. March 17th 1852. She was married to James Morris on Feb. 17, 1828 in Castleisland.
I have also found property tenency for her in 1864 in the area of Knockagashel East in Castleisland.
At the Roman Catholic church Saint Peter and Paul in Castleisland I have found many of the baptisimal documents as well as the marriage certificale.
I also have a James Morris b. abt. 1801 who married Bridget Browne. I do have a child for them named Johanna (no d.o.b.) as well as other siblings including my husband's g.g.grandfather, "Jeffrie" James Morris who was b. 3-17-1852 in Castleisland and married Catherine Toohey (b. 1-12-1860)in Chicago on 11-23-1880. I have no indication that James and Bridget ever came to the United States and I believe that James Morris died in Castleisland in 1866 and Bridget Browne 7-15-1895. If I can be of any help please feel free to contact me through a reply to this message.

I have ancestry to a william browne from england (arrived at age 13 with the original settlement of Lord Baltimore's family at St Mary's 1633 (if memory serves) on one of the first two ships to arrive, (area below present Wahington D.C. in Maryland)). He had two children but the girl died at early age and the other John Browne continued the family from that region and our ancestors eventually moved closer to Frederick Maryland. If that seems to help, let me know and I can trace the history from the Waynesboro Historical Society. Name spelling changed to Brown in early 1800's.

Browne Families in St. George, Maine - 1895 Town Census

I have no connection to this family but wanted to share this information as this would be impossible to come by and I know personally how helpful this can be. It is from the book "Vital Records of St. George, Maine". Included in there is an 1895 Town Census. In most cases they give ACTUAL birth dates AND also in most cases, they give the wife’s maiden name. Apparently they’re not all in alphabetical order, so I may be adding to this, so here goes:

p. 510

Browne
Rev Sewall, b. Aug 15, 1835
Minerva M. (Meader), b. Mar 24 (20), 1840
Gertrude W., b. June 20, 1864
Robert Sewall, b. July 31, 1866
Ralph Campbell, b. Dec 25, 1873
Interesting questions. My husband's mom was a Browne. She was born in 1924. Her name was Josephine Elizabeth Browne. She had a younger brother named Samuel Browne. I'm not sure what year he was born. He did not have children that I know of. I don't remember if her father was a judge or if it was her grandfather. The family home was on Broad Street in Mobile. They also had a home (ok it really was a shack when I saw it, but was nice "in the day") on Weeks Bay.

I hope this information helps, but I don't think we are related.

Lisa

Possibly born in Ireland between 1857 and 1864 but no record found yet. I know this is a little bit after your search, but wonder if you came accross any such info on your searches. I would be interested in the DNA story....please keep me posted.

Hi all,
There is a BROWNE who was killed in a 1942 TWA plane crash near Las Vegas, Nevada, listed in the GenealogyBuff.com Library of Files at http://www.genealogybuff.com/misc/misc-twa-crash-1942.htm
Other Browne data can be researched at http://www.genealogybuff.com/data.htm#Browne

Hope that helps.
Bill

Buckingham Browne, Essex Co., VA - d Feb 1733/34

Does anyone reading this message board happen to have the terms of the will of Buckingham Browne?

It is at Will Book 5, p 344; signed 15 Jun 1733, probated 19 Aug 1735. From an abstract, it refers to wife Eliza, son Samuel, dau Eliza, son Elias, dau Dorothy Brown, son James Brown and dau Mary.

I am interested in the language of each bequest or devise (that is, not just the names, but what they received).

I also have seen a reference to his receiving a patent for 1265 acres in 1719, but cannot find it on the Library of Virginia website. Does anyone have an exact date and book and page reference? [The 1704 Quit Rent Roll shows 400 acres; and the 1715 Quit Rent shows 596 acres.]

Thanks.

The referenced couple lived in Queen Anne's Co., MD. Their sons were Bennett (died about the late-1780s), Robert, James and Basil Browne. Does anyone have any information on the wives and children of Robert, James and/or Basil? I know that the son named Bennett Browne moved to Essex Co., VA and married Mary Hill there in 1775. Bennett and Mary (Hill) Browne's children included Andrew, Basil, Charles and Mary, as I recall.

There was a John Brown in Essex Co., VA on the 1783 tax list, as well as on the 1810 and 1820 censuses, and I am trying to determine if he COULD have been another member of the overall Charles Browne/Priscilla Brooke family (there are some interesting "apparent connections" between this John Brown and a descendant of Bennett Browne named Christopher Tompkins Brown/Browne).

MAYO: Caherduff,Cong; Creevagh, South Cong; Muckrussaun, Ballinchala

Am researching my maternal grandmother's family line.
She was the daughter of John Browne and Mary Nally Browne, born in Caherduff, Cong, County Mayo Ireland in 1897, one of eight children. She had cousins in Muckrussaun (Nallys)and Creevagh (Connellys). I have a copy of the 1911 Irish Census for her family. At that time her parents had been married for 19 years. Having difficulty finding marriage information for her parents and nothing to indicate marriages between Connellys/Nallys or Connellys/Brownes.

Many of the cousins emigrated to America. I've gathered many of their names from letters my grandmother kept. But I can't add them to my "tree" until I know how everyone is connected.

Would appreciate any help from researchers familiar with the area or any suggestions that would help me narrow my search. I'm using on-line records from the Mayo South Family History Centre.

Thank you
