Carroll's - NC IL

Max, Is there a reference book, etc., where I could look up the Carrolls? I am researching Raford Carroll, born 11-3-1808 in NC, married Sarah Jernigan 2-17-1812 in TN and moved to IL. I have his children, etc., but can find nothing about his siblings or his parents. Thanks for any help you can give me in my search. Where do I go from here? Betty Lou
