Hey D_J_C:
I have minimal evidence but my gut has directed me to search for my Carroll line to County Down and County Antrim. Being raised Catholic I was shocked when I discovered a possible marriage of my Great Great Grandfather to a Presbyterian woman in a Presbyterian church in County Down. I have submitted my Y-DNA to the Carroll Surname Project and so far have found my Y-DNA closest in match to early settlers of Virgina and North Carolina. I have assumed they came from Northern Ireland since that is where most Irish came from during that era of emmigration. Have you submitted your Y-DNA?
