I would think they are buried close to the Casper Cemetery north of Anna, Illinois. They are not listed as having a stone in that cemetery. Not all graves have stones. Casper Church and Casper Cemetery are named after Peter. I live in Johnson County You can e mail me chuckiechops@aim.com

I have been researching my gg grandmother, Christina TOWERS. she immigrated to NZ from Scotland in 1872. I have just got her marriage Certificate. She married Alex OLSON in Queenstown NZ in 1875. I note that the witness that signed her marriage certificate was Mrs CASPER wife of Edward CASPER. I wondered if this could be your Casper Family. Do you know much of your relative Barbara TOWERS? I wonder if she is a relative of my gg grandmother Christina TOWERS. The only thing that I know of Christina is that her father is John TOWERS and she is from Renfrewshire (I think) Scotland.

I would be interested to know what you think!

Obit : Robert Casper of Nebraska (1948-2005)

Robert Lee Casper, the son of Kenneth Beryl and Carolyn Jean (Fitzsimmons) Casper was born on March 2, 1948 at Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. He was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. Bob attended school in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in 1966.

On January 3,1968 Bob entered the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged on September 27,1973.

Bob was united in marriage to Eileen Dorothy Sauser on October 23, 1976 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Cedar Rapids. They lived in Newman Grove where Bob worked at the NG Creamery until June of 1977 when they moved to Albion. Bob worked at M & P 66 until October of 1979 when he started working for Kayton International Inc. He was a set-up and field service tech, in the last couple of years he has been the maintenance man.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Albion. He was also a member of the Albion Jaycees, the Albion Volunteer Fire Department, the American Legion Post #162 of Albion; the ABC Bowling Association, and the United Methodist Men. Bob was an instructor for Jr. Fire Patrol and he was a licensed EMT. Bob loved to hunt, fish, and spend time with his grandchildren.

On Saturday, May 14, 2005 Bob died of an apparent heart attack while mowing at his daughter’s home in Loretto. He was 57 years old.

Bob is survived by his wife Eileen of Albion; 5 children: Michelle Mapel and husband Michael of Newman Grove, NE; James and wife Leslah of Greeley, CO; Kimberly Scheffler and husband Brian of Loretto; Carol Casper and friend Dustin Babb of Omaha, NE; and Timothy of Albion; 6 grandchildren: Austin Casper, Rileigh and Blayne Mapel; Connor and Callie Casper; and Mackenzie Towey; his mother Carolyn Casper of Albion; 4 brothers: Larry and wife Theresa of Waterloo, NE; David and wife Sandy of Columbus, NE; Marvin of Albion; Donald and wife Sharon of Albion; mother-in-law LaVerna Sauser of Cedar Rapids, NE; sister-in-law Cathy Wilson and husband Marvin of Albion; brother-in-law Ted Sauser and wife Crys of Columbus, NE; along with many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; and his grandparents Ralph and Lorraine (Darling) Fitzsimmons and Frank and Alta (Allard) Casper.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2005 at the United Methodist Church in Albion with Rev. Terry Otto officiating. Burial will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion with Military Rites conducted by American Legion Post #162 and V.F.W. Post #736 of Albion. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion.

Have we corresponded before? Henry William Casper and Virginia Eugenia Johnson Miller were the parents of Philip Martin (or Milton) Casper, who was married to my grandmother's sister, Louella Sally (or Sarah Louella) Bishop. In my records Henry and Virginia had children: William Levi, Joseph A., Mahala E., Thomas Jefferson, Philip Martin/Milton, Robert Emmett, Barbara Elizabeth, David Muckleroy, Richard M., John, and Steve Olive -- eleven in all, there may have been more.

Interestingly, Virginia was a sister to Arnold Green Miller, who married my great-aunt Henrietta Ann Brooks Stevens. They had no children and Henrietta died young.

In my records, Virginia may have been a daughter of James A. Miller Jr. and Elizabeth Johnson. I don't have any verification of this, however.

I have a Phillip and Ester Casper. Their son Franklin married my great-aunt Mary H Graunstadt in Chicago, Cook County, Ill in 1896. Franklin's siblings were Ellen,John,William, Charles, and Cyrus or Orley. They came from NJ to Pa to Mich. Do any of these people sound like your Caspers?

Hi, Actually yes some of it does. Apparently when my grandmother,Wanda,got pregnant she was shipped to Pennsylvania. The reason given was because she was pregnant and the family was embarassed. She was not married. After her death she was transported back to Michigan. Therefore her one and only child was in foster care.
Does any of this sound familiar to your family? My father was in the southwestern part of the state when he settled down with a wonderful family.

I am looking for a Franklin Casper who was born in 1868 in Parkville, Michigan. He was born in 1868. His parents are listed as Phillip born in Pa and Esther born in Pa. His siblings in the 1880 census are John 24, William 22, Charles 15, Franklin 13, and Orley 10. There is a D Clengelman 40 listed as a brother-in-law. Antonio Casper from Germany born about 1800. Left family there came to OHIO ultimately and married a Sarah (?) and had John (1844 ie, Ohio William b 1846 Ohio and Samuel Anthony( b 1849 August 28 Petersburg, Ohio).
Family in Germany learned of situation and told him not to come home. Wife in USA divorced him in Cincinnati, Ohio 1851.

Descend from Samuel. Samuel and William served in CW from OHIO.

My relative was Charles Hartwig Casper (born Germany 1850)who dropped the last name, came to the US probably through New Orleans. My ancestor, Peter Casper (1781-1878) was married to Esther Fulenwider. His daughter was Eleanor Casper who married Charles Miller. Peter Casper was born in Rowan Co., NC and died in Union Co. IL. I am searching where he and his wife are buried. I don't have any knowledge of his other children.

I have some information on the Casper's. I show Elizabeth Casper born 2/13/1805 the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Hartline Casper. Henry Casper b.11/6/1759--d. 11/13/1832, Rowan Co. NC. Henry son of Peter and Ann Mary ? Casper. I do not have any info on Elizabeth marriages or decendants.
