Some of the Castings clan moved down to Mo., Tenn., and Ga.

Valentine Austin Castings (my great great great grandfather) moved down from New England to the Tennesse/Georgia border. He sired Walter Washington Castings, who sired William Austin and Walter Wastington Jr. (my grandfather and granduncle). William Austin Castings sired William Austin Castings Jr. and Mark Stephen Castings. My father (William) sired myself (Adam Austin Castings) and my brother (Matthew Ross Castings).

I have some documentation which goes back farther than Valentine, maybe that could show where our clans diverged.

Hope this is any help!

my email is castings@uga.edu
my parent's is castings@mindspring.com

Valentine Austin Castings was a "half second cousin once removed" :) to Hiram. The Valentine Austin I have was born Sep 1851 in Nottingham. He married first Agnes Rebecca Eile in 1875 (2 children: Agnes and William); married second Elizabeth Ann Bakewell in 1881 (2 living children: Walter and George). Valentine and Elizabeth moved to Providence, RI. If this is your Valentine, his father was Edward Castings (1823-1894), born and died in Nottingham. He worked in a silk warehouse, then as a grocer's porter, then as a hosiery porter (info from 1851-1891 censuses). Valentine's mother was Hannah (1828-1898). I have three more generations above Edward if you'd like to e-mail me.

Hiram Castings

Hiram was my ggg-g'father, and I'm descended from his daughter, Mary Jane--sister to Henry and Jess. Mary Jane m. Joseph Beniah Williams, and they had 10 children. It was fun finding some distant cousins to fill in recent information! If you don't have it, I have found the marriage records for Hiram's parents. They were: Hiram Castings and Maria Chapman, m. 2-13-1839 in St. Margaret's Church, Leicester, England. Hiram Jr. emigrated in 1869. It sure is hard to find info on this family! My mother believes the Iowa Castings were LDS. Any truth to that?

Grandparents are Castings

Perhaps we have a chance to synch up our family trees. My grandfather (Clifford Castings) and his wife (Navinka Castings) lived in Colfax, Iowa. He passed away in the 1980s; my grandmother is still with us today. I think the Margaret and Mary Castings that are listed on the web sites were his sisters!

I am starting to put together what I have of the family tree, but have very little on Castings. Let me know how we can share information!

KG
Hello fellow Castings' :)

Hi! My name is Laura and I am originally from Tennessee, but I am now in Orlando, Fl. I have always wanted to learn more about where my ancestors came from and who they were. I pretty much know all of the Castings' in Tennessee, but I was wondering if there were any more of you out there...My father is Garisson Brian Castings and his father was Walter Castings. I would love to hear from any of you!!!
