Cedar family from France to Chicago ca. 1858

Does anyone on this board connect to the Cedar family who came from France ca. 1858?
They were friends, and possibly relatives of, the Cadarts and Stantons of Michigan, and the George Drummond family of Chicago.

Can anyone help with my great grandfathers relatives who was a black American/Canadian born in Virginia USA in 1832 and apparently emigrated to look for gold during the Australian goldrush. His name was Henry Jordan Banks and he married in Victoria Australia in April 18 1866 in Maryborough aged 46 years and had 5 children to Sarah Jane McMullen aged 29 years of Tasmania and her relatives

My children's great-grandmother was born in Seglora in the late 1800's. Her name was Clara Elin Berg. She moved to Illinois in the United States and died in 1976. I'd love to find their Berg relatives still living in Sweden. I can also be reached at rmonninger@hotmail.com

If you were born anywhere else but in Sweden, I do not think we are related. As far as I know, only one person named Frid from our family emigrated. He lived in Canada for many years. He himself said that he did not have any family there.

My name is Sven Hennig and I reside in Göteborg, Sweden. I've spent many years researching the areas of Seglora and surrounding parishes. One of my projects have been to organize a village directory and all the people who lived at the diffrent farms. By using old census records my research date back to the early 1600s. In addition I have a lot of ancestors in Seglora, Fritsla, Hyssna, Kinna, Skephult, Satila, Orby and my personal database now include approx. 4,000 individuals from these parishes.

It would be interesting to know more about your own research and perhaps we could exchange information in the future. If I can be of any assistance, please let me know.

Anna Cedar possibly from Lile Aspeborde, Dallerne, Sweden

Hello. I'm trying to learn more about my gg grandmother, Anna Sabina Cedar, who I believe was born in Lile Aspeborde, Dallerne, Sweden in 1844.

She married Johan Fredrik Olsson, who I think was from Varmland, Kolasockon, Sweden.

Anna and Johan Olsson (Fredrickson) had at least 5 kids in Sweden (and raised them around Hudiksvall, Halsingland I think), all of whom emigrated to the US, changing their name to Fredrickson in the process. The couple emigrated in 1903 to Minneapolis, Minnesota to be with their kids.

If you can direct me to resources that may help me uncover who Anna's siblings or parents were, or learn anything more about her, I would be very appreciative.

I am attempting to locate any Cedars from Maryland. My grandfather was Harry Edward Cedar DOB?? he married Mary Malloy from California and they had two children Herbert Edward Cedar and Doris Cedar (Meggitt). Herbert lives in Maryland and Doris lives in Minnesota. Herbert had 10 children (Sharon, Michael, Kevin, Celeste, Kathy, Harry, Cynthia, Brian, Anne Marie and David. Doris had six children. I heard that when my grandfather entered the States his name may have been "Cozna" and changed to Cedar. If anyone has any information to this please let me know.

Hi. I am sorry that it has been almost two years since you replied to my message. I had put my Cedar research aside because I ran into a brick wall with it. I am not at home today but was just browsing the message boards and came across your reply. You are someone that I was looking for a couple of years ago. The best I can determine is that Alma Cedar is related to the Cedar's which I have been researching. Charles (or Carl) Cedar was an uncle to my Great Grandfather. Family verbal history says that he immigrated to US and then went back to Sweden and brought my g-grandfather here to Chicago. My g-grandfather was about 8 years old and was named Edward Lonnegren from Jakoping (sp?) and Malmo area. It is said that they came into the US via Canada. My grandfather, Ed Lonnegren Jr. used to travel to Washington State to visit with a Cedar cousin. This cousin is said to be in the banking business and was fairly well off. I have been unable to locate this cousin. My grandfather is dead now and I assume the cousin is as well.

I have tried to figure out how Carl/Charles Cedar was related to my g-grandfather. To be his uncle, he would have been married to a sister to either the mother or father of g-grandfather. The father, Victor Lonnegren, had a sister named Sophia Alma Lonnegren and I believe this may be the connection.

Johan David Cederberg (his name was shortened to Ceder when he became a soldier) was born in the nearby town of Borås. His mother came from Jönköping and his father from Växjö, also towns in the southern part of Sweden.
Johan David was married in 1817 to Magdalena Johansdotter Tapper. She was a widow. Her first husband was Bengt Pettersson and they had two children; Anna Brita 1806-1822 and Jan Petter 1813-1822. A soldier had to be married and in this case the wife was the daghter of the former soldier who still lived in the cottage.
Johan David and Magdalena had the following children:
Johannes 1819, Anna Sara 1820, Karl Johan 1822, Petter 1823 (my ancestor), Anna Brita 1825, Johanna Sofia 1827, Johan Otto 1829.
As you may already know, Magdalena´s father was the soldier Johannes Tapper who died in 1819. Her mother was Sara Johansdotter, born May 16 1756, died 1842.
Johannes and Sara had the following children:
Johannes, Annamaja, Kerstin, Nils, and Magdalena.

Do you know where Karl Johan Ceder's father was born? The parish census (husförhörslängd) for Seglora says that Johan David Ceder was born 26 July 1793, but no one named Johan David was born in that parish in 1793.

I am compiling a database of persons born in Seglora, Sweden and surrounding parishes. I have found a Carl Johan Ceder born January 7, 1822. He emigrated to the U.S. in 1869 with the intended destination of Chicago.

Swedish emigration records also show a Maria Ceder who was 28 years old in 1904 when she left Seglora parish for Worcester, MA.

I live in Sweden. Some of my relatives named Ceder emigrated to USA in 1869 - 1880.
They came from the parish of Seglora in SW Sweden.

Just by chance I was looking for any information concerning my grandfather's family and discovered CEDAR! Walter E Amberg maried Alma Cedar and had two sons, Steven and Ralph. My father Ralph had three sons of which I am the middle son, Chris. I would enjoy hearing from you either by phone or e-mail. As for a link to Sweden, that is a link I would like to also find and the USA Cedar link. I live in Ellicott City, Maryland.

The family I'm researching is CEDARS not CEDAR. Names can change over the years. John CEDARS b.c. 1820 NJ left Trenton, NJ in early/mid 1830s, went west to Indiana. The MOSIER family also went west (from MD). John CEDARS married May Polly MOSIER. William MOSIER married Nancy CEDARS b.c. 1821 NJ. The families settled in/around Montgomery County, IN. Cedar/Ceder From Sweden

I am looking for any information on the Ceder/Cedar family from Sweden. Charles Ceder/Cedar immigrated to American (Illinois) in 1879. His wife's name was Sofie. He had at least two children, Carl W. and Alma C. He had at least one brother named Gidion who immigrated in 1899. Charles was born Oct. 1859. Gidion was born Nov. 1874. Carl was born May 1886. Alma was born Aug. 1888. This information was found in the 1900 Census for Chicago, IL. The Ceder/Cedar's moved to Washington state after 1914 and are found there in 1920 with grandsons Steven W. Amberg and Ralph G. Amberg living with him and Sofie. These may be Alma's children. Charles was in the Lumber Business. I would like to share information with anyone about this family. Thanks. Lonne

i'm trying to find information on the cedars in oklahoma they were osage indian. my great grandpas name was paul cedar. he was half osage and creek and quapaw. his parents were
susan childers and moses cedar, but in the osage roll of 1921 it says that he was an orohan. Paul was in the little chief band.

I am told that I was born Terrance Micheal Cedar in Oakland, California on 18 February, 1962. I am looking for any information, (positive or negative) about my biological ancestry. My wife is pregnant with possible genetic issues complicating the pregnancy, therefore if there is anyone who can provide some answers, I would be most appreciative. I confess that I would love to meet and thank my birth parents if that were ever to be possible, but it is not as important as finding the information to help my unborn son.
