Here are some notes on the Childers findings in Wilkes Co NC and related findings in GA (Elbert and Hall counties). Milner Childers and some apparent relatives moved to GA c1800-1810 to participate in land lotteries. He moved back to Wilkes NC, then in 1838, moved to Hall GA, living with a grandson.

1778 Michael/Mitchel Childers, Wilkes Co NC land grand #866, 95 acres on Stoney Creek.
1782 Wilkes Co NC Tax List
1782 – Pattie Childers, age 3 next Sep 14 (orphan presumably) daughter of John Childers bound to James Williams to learn to sew, spin, read and “wright”.
1785 Wilkes NC Will Book dated 1/8/1785 John Childers executor of James Edmonston estate (mentions daughter Hannah Childers receiving part of plantation, wife Ustley, sons, John and Frances Edmonston). John Childers also mentioned May 28, 1794 court minutes returned account of sales from estate.

1788 Apr 4 – Mitchel Childers overseer of road (according to descendants’ postings, Mitchell Childers or Childress moved to KY some time before 1800 and/or moved to Knox TN).
1790 Wilkes NC Census (and 1820/1830) - Milner Childers and wife Sarah (both born c1760, probably in VA) are listed.

1795 Wilkes Co NC - Miller Childers enters 100 acres in Wilkes Co NC, includes some waters of Mulberry Creek, border at Joseph Tanners line where his wife now lives, includes my (Miller’s) improvements.
1800 31 Oct Franklin Co GA – Deed Lewis Sewall of Columbia Co GA to Jacob Seagraves 200a sworn to by Milner (Milder) Childriss (Childers) X 12 Oct 1802.
1803 April 1 Franklin County Deeds rec. Dec 24, 1805 from Milner Childers of Elbert Co GA to William Cleghorn of Franklin Co. In cons. Of $125 conveys 100a in Franklin on waters of Broad River adj Bluestone Creek part of tract granted to Lewis Sewall and covered by said Sewall to Milner Childers 31 Oct 1800; Signed Miler (Milner) Childers, wit. Joseph Long, William Womack, sworn 10 Sep 1804.
1805 Wilkes NC - Miller (Milner) Childers July 5, 1806, witnessed 140 acre deed of Braddock Harris of Lawrence Co SC (other witness William Sebastian)
1805 Wilkes NC - Willis Childers Sept. 30, 1805, granted 300 acres, ridge near where Childers now lives.
1805 Franklin Co GA - Milner Childers is listed paying taxes in Franklin GA along with James and Wiley Childers.
1805 Elbert Co GA - Milner participated in the land lottery of Elbert County GA. Milner Childers drew blanks. Others drawing blanks were Wiley (Wyley), James, Robert, Thomas, William Childers.
1809 Aug 8 Elbert Co GA – Robert Childers (Childress) married Sarah Carter.
1818 (or prior to 1820) - Milner had moved back to Wilkes Co NC from GA.
1820 Wilkes NC Census - Milner Childers and wife Sarah are listed.

1822 Wilkes NC - Marriage of John Childers - Nancy Brooks, Jan. 1, 1822 bondsman David Wilkey or Wilkins
1823 Wilkes NC - On Feb. 1, 1823, David Wilkey of Wilkes Co NC filed as a witness for the Revolutionary pension application for Milliner/Millier Childers. In 1822 Wilkes Co NC, Gabriel Childers had made affidavit he knew soldier Millier Childers when he enlisted as an American Revolutionary soldier. Milner Childers in 1823 listed age 64.
1823 Wilkes NC - Milner Childers lists children living at home in his pension application. Listed were Wiley born c1798 and Sarah born c1793. Other probable children included Willis born 1793-85, John and Henry. Catherine (wife of David Wilkey) is also believed to be a daughter.
1825 Wilkes NC - Milliner Childers received pension again.
1830 Wilkes NC - Milner Childers and wife Sarah are listed.

1838 - Milner Childers applied to have his Rev. Soldier pension moved from Wilkes Co NC to Hall County GA. In 1840 David and Catherine Wilkey had moved their family from Wilkes Co NC to Hall County GA, and are listed in the census near Milner and Sarah, both age 70-80, who were living in the household of Wiley Childers, age 20-30. In 1840 Willis and Henry Childers are also living in the Hall County GA and are listed near Wiley. In 1840, Milner Childers age 77 received his pension living in household of Wiley Childers in Hall Co GA. This younger Wiley age 20-30 in 1840 is probably a grandson, based on his age. He is too young to be Milner and Sarah’s son, Wiley born 1798.

1811-1848 Wilkes Co. NC Will Books - Miller (Milner) Childers mentioned (estate purchases) pages 30, 31, 39, 40 from various estates.
1897 – Wilkes Co NC Willis Childers, 1897 Mar 10, mentions wife Polly, Charley Pruitt, Suckey Cletcher, gives his home to Sytha Fletcher; witnesses H.G. Blackburn, William Childers, Executor John H. Johnson.
