My graandfather, Michael Conlon, was born in Ireland in 1840 or 1842 (?). His father was William and his mother was Ann Mulroy. I know my grandfather came to U.S. around 1865 and settled in Wisconsin. I don't know if his parents emigrated or not, that is what I trying to find out now. My grandmother's name was Margaret Cooney and her parents came from County Mayo so perhaps that is where my grandfather came from also but I don't know for sure about that. I was always told that my grandfather came from Cork but I have since found out that that could have been the port from where he emigrated. I suppose there are lots of Conlons in Ireland but I would like to find out more about my grandfather before I leave this earth. Thanks for replying to my post. Maybe we can find some common ground.
