I am looking for information on James Allen Denis, born July 4, 1888; and died in January of 1951. He was my maternal grandfather. My grandmother Eula Mae Ridings was his second wife. I would like information on where he was born, and who his parents were. I think he may have been from Tennessee.

I am not related, but I was just browsing in an antique store in Kalamazoo MI and saw a photo of a lot of folks, and a sign that said Denis Reunion, Memorial Park, 1923. It is about 10 inches wide and 4 inches tall, just guessing. I think the price was $20. I think this likely came from either Michigan or Indiana. I can pass along the store name and phone number if anyone is interested.

I'm looking for any information on my grandfather, Michael Joseph Denis. The information that I know is that he married my grandmother, Margarite DeLeo, had two sons, Raymond Louis Denis and Michael Felix Denis. They lived in NJ (New Brunswick) and NYC. I know he was a sailor in the US Navy and served in Rhode Island ? (dishonorable discharge, I think) and he died in 1980 in NYC. I understand he was of Hungarian decent, but I have no idea when they came to the US and from where. I believe his mother's name was Teresa but I don't know a last name. My grandfather had a half-brother Joseph Balazy and a sister, Teresa (Denis?). I would really like to just fill in some of my family tree and just have hit one dead end after another. I can't find birth info, marriage info, ggparents names or dates, ect. ANY help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Rose,
I am hoping you may be able to help me also. My great grandmother was Florence Denis. I have her marriage license to my great grandfather Philip Deadware. It says Florence's father was Anthony and her mother was Adeline Bigot?. At least that is what I think Adeline's maiden name looks like. It also says they were born in Canada but lists no town name. They were married in 1912 in Cohoes, NY at St. Jeans church. I do know that Florence was catholic and Philip was not. when they burried Philip they had to put him in a steel case in the catholic cemetary. I also know they lived in Troy, NY. and Florence went by the name Florida at times. She also had a sister named Rose and one named Maud. Rose had a birth mark on one side of her face. I have much more information on them if they sound familiar to you. I have been told that Florence was born just outside Montreal and the name St. Philippee has been mentioned a few time to me. My guess is that St. Philippee is the parish on the reservation that is by Montreal. We have been told we are Iriquois but nothing else. Can you help me?

Joseph Anthony Lanoville/Denis

Hello,
I am looking for information on a Joseph Anthony Lanoville/Denis. My cousin found an article with his mothers things when she passed that explained of a boy that was abducted from France by a seaman named George Denis. Joseph Anthony Lanoville was thirteen when abducted from his father Count Anthony Lanoville of Paris France in 1770. The article reads that Joseph was brought to Rousis Point ( Unsure if it was Canada at the time or NY ) and married a indiginous woman. In this article it says that Joseph Lanoville/Denis was to go to France to inherit $17,000,000 but the weather was bad so he was waitning for the weather to clear. The article was printed in Feb. 1924. It says that Joseph and second wife lived in Coytesville NJ and worked in NYC making polish. It also says Joseph is a father of 14 children and by that time only three were living. My great grandfather was Joseph Anthony Denis and I and my cousins wife are wondering if this was him because of the discrepencies in our family tree. If any one knows of this information and can help please email me at patricia@gamachegraphics.com. Thank you!

Looking for any information on Aldia Marie Denis, my grandmother. She married Leopold Joseph Lecompte. They immigrated from Canada around 1920 or 1921. They resided in Vermont. The family may also have changed the name from Denis to Dennis. I have no information as to any siblings. Any info will be appreciated

Shad Denis (Dennis Emfinger?)

Hello,

Does anyone have any information on a man by the name of Shad Denis or Dennis Emfinger? Apparently, he married my mother Eva Turek (Denis) under the assumed name of Shad Dennis in 1975 or 76 in Illinois. From what she (my Mother) says, she later found out that his real name was Dennis Emfinger. They married and had two daughters. Me in October of 1976 and one in November of 1977. When he left, we lived in Texas and my mother was pregnant with a third child, a boy, who was born in October of 1979. My mother also believes that she heard that he had another child by another woman in the early 70s. His name is Jason (?).

I haven't seen my father since 1979 and I now have two children of my own. I'd like to find out if their Grandfather is alive. I don't plan to contact him - he obviously left us for a reason. I just want to know if he's still alive and if he's well.

Thanks in advance for any info. anyone can provide.

I have old rifle, name on it Lt. Denis

I'am not searching for Denis in my tree, but I do have an old rifle with the name Lt. Denis engraved on it. I don't know much about rifles but I do know it's a single shot bolt action, Mauser. It has 1881 on it but I don't know if thats the yr. I was told that it could be 1920. So if anyone has a Lt. Denis that was in the service, maybe we can find the history. Thank you! Claudia
