Arizona Republic, The (Phoenix, AZ) - August 11, 2006 Deceased Name: Frank J. DePaoli, Jr., M.D. Frank J. DePaoli, Jr., M.D., 72, passed away in peace on August 8, 2006 after a long and courageous fight with cancer. He was born in Globe, Arizona to Mary Vuletich DePaoli and Frank James DePaoli, Sr. He earned his bachelor and medical degrees at Tulane University. During his medical training, he married Dolores Marylee Robinson, whom he loved and cherished for 44 years. He became an orthopaedic surgeon and later was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his service as an orthopaedic surgeon during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, he established a private practice in Phoenix, Arizona, where he helped to heal thousands of patients. He was a published writer and a gifted speaker on orthopaedic surgery. In addition to his life in the medical field, he served as President of the Madison Elementary School District Board. Also, he was active in local politics for both parties, including an unsuccessful run to become a U.S. Senator in 1980. He was so highly respected that his political opponent came to him as a patient during the political campaign. He enjoyed listening to opera, watching sports, and reading books. He was a great cook, had an excellent sense of humor, and loved to entertain family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Dolores, and his children: James, Deborah, and Michael. He was predeceased by his son, Robert. Services will be held 11 am Saturday, August 12 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4715 N. Central Ave. in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower, Phoenix, AZ 85014.
