Dies Family

John Dies  (View posts) Posted: 29 Mar 2000 5:25PM GMT
I am looking for information on John William Dies family tree. Father was Joseph F Dies married to Velma G. Moose. I think that both died in Akron Ohio. I know that sometime in the past the spelling of the last name was changed. At one time the family lived in Indiana County, PA.

The information that we have on John William Dies Sr, is that he was born 10/16/1934 in Heshban, PA. He died in 5/1976 in Akron, OH. We also think that he went by William. His father was Joseph F.Dies born 7/24/1912 and died 10/1965 also in Akron, OH. This is about all of the information that we have so far, hope you can help.

My great-grandfather was Jacob Deis born 1856, died 1936 married to Mary Unknown born 1855, died 1941. My grandfather was John Henry (Harry) Dies born 3-3-1883, died 12-15-1944. The spelling was changed from Deis to Dies by my great-uncle Paul Dies. If there is any connection please let me know and I'll let you know if I find more info.

I have relatives in Indiana county, Pa. My grandfather was Edwin Dies, Sr. He had three sons, David Alexander, Delbert Merle, and
Edwin Dies II to a second wife, Della Parker, after his first wife died of childbed
fever. She had another son who was adopted by relatives who named him Leroy Zack. They lived in Brush Valley, next to Indiana, Pa. Contact me.

We have Krietz's in our family and we always wondered how the name got to be Dies. We could be related. There are also Parkers in our history. My grandfather was Edwin Dies, Sr. We have a lot of family around Brush Valley and Indiana, Pa.

My grandfather John Dies married Agnes Kreitz 6-28-1906 in Akron, Ohio. John Dies' father was Jacob Dies and his father was Peter Dies (Diesz?, I was told this is the original spelling). Agnes Kreitz's father was Phillip Kreitz. There were numerous children born to these families. If you would like particulars please email me at fordhere@aol.com and I will send you all the information I have. Peter Dies and Phillip Kreitz were both immigrants.

My great-grandfather was Peter Dies d.b 6-28-1809 in Detweiler, Prussia. I was told that the original spelling Was Diesz, then Dies, Deis, and back to Dies. Peter Dies had 12 children, one was Joseph born 6-13-1853. Could this be your ancestor?
