Sorry Jan, I can't help you with that one. It could be Dignan. Its an easy name to misread or misspell. Good luck in your search.

My g grandmother on my father's side was an Anne Dignan, who died around 1953/54. She married Bernard McDonald on 31 December 1895 at the Church of Sacred Heart, Bridgeton, Glasgow. don't know if this is of any use or not.

Hi Thomas
I'm not sure with your names.I'm in contact with a few relatives and I'm waiting for more info.I have found that Amelia wasn't born in England, she came with her parents as a child and they didn't arrive until after the cenus and that the family was Flemish. I did have a look on the 1881 census and didn't find Thomas Owen,John, George(1852) the George I found in that time period was 1847,or George (1871) I did find a George b 1872 in Battersea,Surry living with parents William and Sarah in Battersea. I also found a George Albert Dignum b 1878 London. Let me know if you would like a copy of the index on Dignum. I'll be in touch when I've found anything new.
Thanks
Carol
