Classification: Query
Surnames: Door, Berry, Dier, Dore, Dorr, Doore
I have a Simon Door(1772-1854)from Lebanon, ME married to Bethany Berry (1775-1847) from New Durham, NH - married in Newfield ME 1795 - moved to Granby, Quebec, Canada.
Simon is four generations removed from the immigrant Richard Door of Portsmouth NH (most likely from England).
Simon and Bethany had two sons I know of; Stephen Berry Door (1798 - 1847) and Simon Door (b: circa 1800 - unknown).
Stephen had a daughter Elizabeth who married John Dier (Germanic?).
After 1800 or so in Maine and New Hampshire the name Door is more often seen as Dore, Doore, and Dorr - all relating to descendants of the same Richard Door who appeared in Portsmouth NH about 1670.
