I am looking for information on a Driscoll married to a Michael Hurley in the mid 1800's - possibly earlier - lived in Brooklyn, NY - Michael owned a meat-packing plant - was given to Driscoll family after Michael's death. Both Michael Hurley and the Driscoll were Irish immigrants - surprise! - have very little information on the Hurleys and less on the Driscoll's - appreciate any information at all. Michael's son was Michael Joseph Hurley married to Ellen Dawson.
Thanks
ETH

Driscolls of Cork and Oswego, NY

Searching for any info on my Irish ancestors. Timothy Driscoll (born about 1822) married Sarah Shepherd (born about 1829) in County Cork, Ireland (town/parish unknown). They had 2 children, William 1846, and Mary Ann, 1848. All 4 emigrated (although I can find them on no passenger list) and have settled in Oswego City, NY by the 1850 census (also in the house are a James and Mary Mow? and an 11-year-old William Shepherd). Sarah died around 1861 and Timothy remarried an Irish-born woman named Ellen (surname unknown, born c. 1835-1837). They settled at 177 W. Cayuga St. in Oswego City and had 3 children: Elizabeth (b. Oct. 1862), [John] Benjamin (b. September 3, 1866) and Frederick (b. 1868). Timothy died between 1888-1900. Ellen died between 1910-1920. Elizabeth never married and lived in the house on W. Cayuga until her death in 1837. Benjamin (my great-grandfather) married and had 7 children. Frederick vanishes early on. I am assuming that he died fairly young.

I do not know Timothy or Sarah's parents' names and I know nothing about Ellen prior to her marriage to Timothy. I am trying to get marriage/death records from Oswego, hoping that parents' names &/or birth location will be listed. It has been suggested that Timothy may be from Dunmanway or Bandon, but I have no documentation to confirm this.

Any information would be most helpful.

Thank you,
Tara

My family was from Mullinahone, Tipperary. John and Anty (Eagan) are buried in Mullinahone (died 1804). Their son, Michael (DOB 1796??), married Mary Mahone. They had 5 children in Mullinahone including Patrick (DOB 1818), John (1822), Lawrence (1826), Jeremiah (1828) and Anty (1830). Evidence shows that only Michael, Patrick, John and Lawrence made it to St. Louis sometime in the 1840's. All four are buried in St. Louis. Associated names with the family include: Mary Mahone, Ellen Logan, Brennan, Crowley. Trying to find out info on Jeremiah and Anty as well as ship records to show when they immigrated and where they entered. Also, any explanations of why they were in Tipperary instead of Cork with the rest of the clan would be appreciated.

The groom was Nicholas Lumbird (Lambert) age 25, a laborer, and also residing at 9 Rosemary Lane in Whitechapel. The marriage was witnessed by Edward Coughlan, Julian G(C)oulwand, and I believe the reistrar was William Taylor. The marriage took place at St. Ann's Chapel and was a Roman Catholic ceremony.

If this sounds familiar, please reply.

She was born around 1826 in Cork County Ireland and died around 1907 probably in England (in Gatton Point, Surrey, England according to the 1871 and 1881 British Census.

Mary married Nicholas Lambert 16 Nov 1852 at St Anne's Chapel, Mile End, Old Town, Whitechapel, Middlesex, England so she may have been there much longer. Nicholas was also born around 1826 and was a farm laborer. The couple had several children born between 1853 and 1869 (Mary, Ellen, James, Katherine, Nicholas, John, Margaret, Ann, and Joseph in that order)

According to family lore, Mary "tended to the animals"----"would grab Nick (I'm assuming they mean Nick Junior) and put him in her lap"--"and could jump over a pig sty".

Also according to the lore: Nicholas came from Dublin, County Cork, Skibereen--wed Mary and moved to England during the potato famine "because you couldn't get anywhere." He and wife lived in Surrey and leased 3 acres of land. Nicholas signed a 99 year lease subject to rates and taxes. He first built one room with a lean-to and had 9 children.

If any of this rings a bell, please let me know.
I can not seem to locate her before her move to Michigan. Frank was also born in Missouri so I assume they moved after they were married. Any connections or info would be apprieciated,

My husband's great great grandfather James Driscoll was born in Cork, Ireland about 1816. His father's name was also James. He had 5 brothers (one possibly named Jeremiah) and one sister Mary; he immigrated from Ireland during the potato famine. He was a tailor and settled in New York City. According to family, his first wife died at sea. In the 1850 US census, he is married to Ann, but in the 1880 census he is married to Jane. Known children were Jeremiah, Abby and Mary. James died in 1901 in Brooklyn, NY; he was living with his daughter Mary McConnell. Apparently, some of his extended family also settled in MA, but I have no knowledge of their given names.

I'm searching for information on the family of Timothy Driscoll of Cork. He was married to Mary O'Calaghan possibly about 1820 and had a son named Michael and possibly a daughter, Catherine. I'm not sure if Timothy emigrated to Canada or if it was just Michael. I've located their names on a ship coming to Canada in 1833 through New Brunswick, but I don't know if it's the family I'm searching for or not.
I do know that Michael eventually settled in Hull, Quebec. He married Bridget Tierney (McTiernan, daughter of Stephen Tierney and Catherine McCurrigan) in 1848 at Notre-Dame Basilica in Ottawa, Ontario. Michael and Bridget had 2 sons, that I'm aware of, Thomas b. 1849 and John (my great-grandfather) b. 1851.
If anyone knows of this family (Timothy and Mary) , I would appreciate any information at all.

Thank you.

Lori Driscoll-Gruber

Vincent passed away July 23, 1969. Bernice is still alive. They had five children. Would like to contact anyone connected to Jeremiah and his children.

I know this is a stab in the dark as they say, but I am looking for Catherine Driscoll (maiden name). Went by the name "Catie" born in Kingston, Ontario. Parents names were Patrick Driscoll and Julia Ann Babcock, she was born about 1882. She had two brothers Henry in 1883 and Daniel in 1885 before their father died.
Her mother was previously married to a gentleman named Woods and one son named Charles. After Patrick died she married a gentleman named Harry Beach and had two possibly three sons named John in about 1890, Ernest in 1892. I heard she married again because of the death of her third husband. Possible name of this man Glazer (Glazier) and had a set of twins one of them named Wilifred born in (1895) and died before 1910. Unsure what happened to other twin. She moved from Kingston Ontario to the Clifton, NY area and then Watertown, NY and married a gentleman named Rufus Hayes around 1898. I don't know about when Catherine came over but she is not listed with her mother in 1900 Census. Her brother Henry was a feather-weight boxer in the upper NY area and I was told she married and lived in the Buffulo, NY area. The rest of her siblings and mother eventually moved to the Detroit area around 1915. She supposedly died in Buffalo area around 1935-1940. I know this is alot of?????? but this is all I have to go on. My two aunts can not remember anything else about her. Any one that has any suggestions on how I may find her or if any one knows any info about her please respond. I am at a total loss.
Thanks
