I am totally frustrated and seem to be at a dead end. My father's father's name is Chaffer/Chafer/Cheffer and after doing research I can only trace back a few generations to
England. However, I had my brother do the paternal DNA test and apparently we are closely related to a lot of men with the last name of
Eddy. The closest relation is 9 generations ago (around 250 years) but after contacting the male
Eddy he either does not respond or has no info. There are other Eddy's that go back 10, 15, 25 generations, etc so the only thing I can think of is that an
Eddy male was the father of a
Chaffer child- maybe the
Eddy male died and the
Chaffer male adopted him or maybe the female had relations w/ an
Eddy male and the
Chaffer male accepted the child as his own. The problem is that I cannot find a connection. I believe both names originated in
Wales or
Cornwall, and the connection would be around 1750 in
England.
Has anyone seen any records with
Chaffer and
Eddy neighbors? Just giving it a shot on the off chance someone has seen something.
Thanks,
Amybeth
