i have found an 1871 Census record

which i believe includes my wife's great great grandfather
Joseph Ellis married to Isabella Ellis
with a daughter Hannah age 3 months.

It looks like they are living with Isabella's parents
; however i think the surname in the image is more like Barrister not Bainster as indicated on link.

Can anyone else confirm it's Barrister ??
or maybe even Bannister.

i blame it on my eyesight LOL

I see online where various trees say his wife's name is Christina Tabitha Montgomery. Can someone explain to me why her grave says "C Tabitha Parker Ellis"?? Was she married before she married AJ, or is her maiden name actually Parker and not Montgomery?

John William II married 1. Elizabeth Amanda Watson; known children THOMAS BAYTOP (no descendants), LOUIS M., JAMES EDWIN, CHARLES BENJAMIN, ELIZABETH HALL, MARY LUCY, JOHN R., CARRIE (or Cassie)LENORA, MILDRED WHITE (m. Culbreath?), WILLIAM G., and LOUISA MATILDA (m. Burnett, descendants known).
He married 2. Martha Lena Burnett; children Branch (died young), Martha Louise (my great-grandmother) and Ann Lee (no descendants). Anna Lee's probate records (1948)list sister Mrs. Kate Murphy and her daughter Mrs. Joe Sparling of Horatio Street, Tampa, FL and son J. W. Ogletree of Green St., Augusta, GA; nephew V. B. Ellis of Yatesville, GA; neice Mrs. Hal Vaughn (Velma) of New Street, Macon GA; and "other heirs" Mrs. L.S. McDowell of Gordon, GA; Mrs. O.B. Belmont of Johnson St., Macon, GA; Mrs. Mary Lou McMullin of Arch St., Macon, Richard Ellis and Felton Ellis of McCrieght St., Bastra, LA.
Some researchers believe there was also a son, Andrew Judson. Above descendants are Caucasian. John W. II is also bveoieved to have African-American descendants in middle Georgia.
Finding descendants of any of these would help complete the family tree. Are you out there?

can anyone help please? Peter was born 05/10/1856 ( from IGI)but when I tried to get a certificate he does not appear on BMD records. LDS tell me I should find him in birth June quarter ( he wasnt born til October?) but my local LDS centre appears to have closed and the next nearest one isnt open either. on Peters Marine records it shows his dob as 5/10/1862 born Leeds. I tried Leeds registry office they checked nothing from 1854 - 1858.

any suggestions?????
any advise would be gratefully accepted.

I have read and been told that there was mention of an Ellis bible in I guess Ellis rootsweb. It mentions Obediah Ellis and his children. Obediah Ellis was from Baltimore, Anne Arundel and Frederick, Maryland in the late 1760's until 1791. Then moved to Woodford County, Kentucky,then Franklin and Scott Counties, dying in 1825 and being named as one of four founders of the Salem Methodist Church in Georgetown, KY. If anyone has any knowledge of the person who posted such information or can repost that information, I would be so very grateful. Thanks to everyone who can maybe help me out on this question. I have been working on this line for about 10 years and have hit a brick wall where Obediah is concerned. He was my 6th g-grandfather. Thanks again...

I'm trying to locate info. on my GGGrandmother, Harriett Ellis. I have her born in 1830 in either Tennessee or North Carolina. Married William Harold Reavis in 1848 in Shelbyville, TN, but I cannot find any record of the marriage. Her name variations are Harriet/Harriett/Harritt. Possible parents are William and Nancy. Is there a list anywhere of mining accidents in Nevada and possibly the names of those killed? Lanning Ellis, a young man of 17, left Grundy Co., Missouri in 1905. In June 1905, his mother received word that he had been killed. His uncle went to the site, had the grave opened and identified the body. No one living today knows where in Nevada that was. If I could find the county, I possibly could find the grave site. Any help would be appreciated.

Looking for record of marriage between Richard Ellis, b. 1829 and Mary Bell, b. 13 Aug 1826. Both were born in Ireland, Mary likely to have been born in County Meath. Mary's obituary says they were married in Philadelphia, PA, in 1850s (gives no specific date,probably sometime between 1850 and 1855). They later moved to Illinois, settling in Peru, LaSalle Co., IL until Richard's death in 1896. Mary Bell died on 16 Aug 1921 in Livingston Co., IL.

I have traced my roots back to my 4th great grandfather Chester F Ellis (also found under Chesterfield). I am looking for any and all information I can find reference my great great grandparents William ELLIS and Angeline HILTON. William ELLIS was born in Lawrenceberg, Ky., along with Angeline as far as I know. They were both born about 1867. Their children included Lillie or Lillia, Edgar, Viola, Willie, and Mary. William worked in a distillery. The 1910 census showed the township of Anderson County as Tyrone. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Witnesses were Ellen Wilkinson and William Winder. I am looking for any info that can be found on James Ellis born abt 1816 who was born in England and married Elizabeth Woods born 1822. I don't know where in England they were born. I do know they left England and came to Ontario Canada in 1845. They had one son Thomas Ellis born June 6 1840 in England. Then they had James Atlantic Ellis born at sea in 1845. Then they had Henry, Harriet and William John after settling in Ontario.

Martin Ellis of Champion, Jefferson Co., NY

Need help figuring out the correct wives and parents of Martin Ellis (c. 1790-1864) who lived in Champion, Jefferson Co., NY from possibly 1815 to 1855. Martin was probably born in VT (info. from 1850 census) or NY (info from 1860 census). He died in Porter Co., IN. His first wife may have been Melinda A. unknown who is buried in Hillside Cemetery in Champion. They were married c. 1814. His second wife may have been Laura Dent Dorwin Clark whose first husband was Enoch Clark. Martin and Laura would have been married between 1842 and 1850.

Martin's children were: Benjamin S., Deloss M., Augustus Monroe, Henry J. and Eliza S.

Benjamin never married and died in KS. Deloss married Ruth Ingalls Ellis in Washington Co., OH and died young in OH. Ruth was the daughter of Silas Ellis and Eleanor Dickerson. Augustus M. married Elizabeth J. Potter and died in KS. He was a doctor. Henry J. married Sarah Mariah unknown and probably died in IN. Henry was a doctor. Eliza married William Paramore who was also a doctor. They lived in IN.

I have been trying to connect Martin Ellis with the Ellis families in the vicinity of Champion, Jefferson Co., NY. Ruth Ingalls Ellis had family in Rutland, Jefferson Co., NY-- close to Champion. This was the John Ellis, Jr. and wife, Rachel Marsh, family. Many of them are buried in Rutland Hollow Cemetery. Does Martin connect with this family? Maybe with some members who lived in VT?

Ruth's uncle was named Martin. He was the son of Benjamin Rufus Ellis and Ruth Ingalls. Could this be my Martin?

Another family from Rutland was the Turner Ellis family. Turner was the son of Stephen Ellis and Ruth Turner. Turner had two wives and his sons settled Ellisburg, NY.
Does Martin connect to this family?

One other family, the family of Samuel and Mary or Polly Ellis, was from Champion in 1820. Samuel may have been the son of Gideon and Mollie Ellis. Samuel moved to Rutland, Jefferson Co., NY and had a son, Halsey, who married Sylvia B. Graves. Is this Martin's family?

Martin may be related to another family that I do not know anything about. My father-in-law did the DNA test but we do not have a match, yet. The DNA did show a possible Phillips or Phelps connection, but this may be way, way, back.

I am working on my grandpa Anglin's family history. His branch of Anglin's migrated to Union County Arkansas around 1890-1900. From researching the Anglin's here in South Ark. I have traced them back to Leake County Missisippi 1860-1880 but running into alot of brick walls. I would really like to find an actual Anglin descendant in Mississippi, that maybe could help me with some questions I have. I know its a long shot but right now its all ive got to go on. One of the Anglin's im working on is Roy L. Anglin. He also have gone by Roy and LeRoy. Some census records also have transposed his name as Ray. He married Ora Lee Henderson, and their children are Ollie Dean Anglin Wilcher who died in 1953, and a Glen Anglih. Roy, Ora, and Ollie are buried in New Hope Cemetary in Leake county. Some of the towns they have lived in are Carthage, Standing Pine, and Walnut Grove. On Roy's WWI Draft Card it gives his occupation as farming for Mrs. Loma Ellis near Estes Mill. I am looking for the parents of my great-great grandmother, Mary Rosana Ellis Hearn. I have her in my family tree as the daughter of William Wade Ellis and Mary "Mollie" Jourdan; however, I recently obtained a copy of her death certificate which names her parents as Dorsy Ellis and Mary Bugins. The informant for the death certificate was genuinely mentally deficient, so it's possible that information is wrong - however, I can't find anything on the census records to prove either of these couples were her parents. Mary Rosana was born in 1881 in Louisiana, and could also be listed as Roseanna Mary. Any info anyone has would be much appreciated!

Ralph M Ellis married Anna Veronica O'Connor on Nov. 17, 1906 in Vancouver, Clark County, Washington. He was born in Indiana in 1884 to Edward R. Ellis and his moms maiden was Dora Miller.

My dad Edward Ralph Ellis born May 15, 1907 in Seattle, King County, Washington.

Nothing after that on my Grandfather, who did not raise my dad. Census shows she listed herself as a widow in 1920 in Portland, Multnomah County Oregon.

She listed him as Robert Ellis on all documents she filled out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am searching for The parents of Joseph C (possibly Clark) ELLIS b. abt 1815. Death record indicates he was born in Harwich however I have contacted each town in the area and none have a birth record for a Joseph Ellis . I find this hard to believe as there are several Joseph Ellis's in the Barnstable area during 1800's
my Joseph Married Judith Harvender/Havender.b.abt1820 d 1890 Provincetown Ma. They are buried in Provincetown along with several children. They Had approx 10 children(- several died in infancy) surviving childred included William, Joseph Jr, George W., Benjamin L, Sylvester.
As far as I can determine Joseph C Ellis arrived in Provincetown about 1840. Direct descendants remained in Provincetown until at least 1940's. I have been able to trace several of the lines and all indications are that the families have remained in Massachusetts.

And help location information on Joseph C. Ellis is appreciated. I also welcome more information on the descendants as i have alot of quessed information and am looking for documentation to back it up.

I am researching Ebenezer Ellis born 1729 in Massachusetts, died 1818 in Nova Scotia, Canada, married 1756 to Hannah Wing in Massachusetts. He and some of his siblings moved to Canada after the American Revolution (possible Loyalists) and some remained in Massachusetts. The Canadian branch remained there settling in Nova Scotia and Quebec. The ones who remained in the USA mostly stayed in the New England area with a few spreading across the Midwest and as far as Washington and California. Does anyone have have links to this family?

I am looking for the possibly Cherokee parents of Nancy ELLIS (b. 1811, TN).

She married 14 Nov 1832 Solomon RAMSOWER (Ramseur, Ramsaur, Ramsour, Ramslow) (b. 1810, NC) in Roane Co, TN. They may have met near Morgan Co, TN or Overton Co, TN where the Ramsower family had land. The couple arrived in Missouri in 1834, the same year their oldest daughter was born. They had five children while in Missouri (Mary 1834, Jane 1836, Manerva 1838, William 1841, Nancy Mariah b. 13 March 1848 -- d. 1 April 1876).

I have had no luck finding the names of Nancy Ellis's parents or siblings. Census of 1820 shows a Nancy Ellis in Springfield, Robertson Co, TN, but does not clarify if this is the 9-year-old child in our family or another person.

I was looking for information on a Ray Ellis who originally was from Louisville Kentucky and attended the University of Kentucky in the mid-1920's where he played both football and basketball.

I found in the social security death index a listing for a Ray Ellis who was born 1/3/1905 (the same year that I approximate the UK player was born based on where he was in school at the time) who applied for his social security card in Kentucky but later lived in Tampa Florida where he died January 23, 1992.

I'm thinking that based on the birth year and the fact that he got his ss# in Kentucky, there's a good chance this is the same person who attended UK, but I'd like to have that confirmed.

Other information (besides confirmation of his date of birth etc.) I would like to get include a photograph from the time period he was in school (or any photograph actually), an obituary etc.

Seeking parents of [Virginia? Jane?] Jenny ELLIS who married 6 Feb 1819 in Rowan Co., NC, to Edward HOPKINS. Bondsman was Radford ELLIS. Edward was born in 1800, so presumably Jenny is about the same age. Is Radford her brother? Is Jenny a daughter of Radford ELLIS (Sr.) & Elizabeth MACAY of Rowan County?

Edward remarried 11 Oct 1825 in Rowan Co., NC, to Patience COGGINS, so presumably Jenny was deceased by 1825. Jenny had at least one child: Anderson HOPKINS (1820-1886), and the censuses indicate she may also have had a daughter, b. 1820-25. Edward is enumerated in the 1830-1860 censuses of Davidson Co., NC.
