Photo was surely taken in 1883 or earlier, (based on the type of photo), and it was taken by E. C. Goldsmith, in Springfield, MA (which is in Hampden Co.). George looks to be about age 20,

I found a George S. Ewins in the 1910 census for Compton (Grafton Co.) NH, with wife Abbie. He was age 46, born NH.
