Anybody give me any leads on the Fiddis/Fiddes family from Fermanagh Ireland. George Fiddes married an Isabella Bustard, sister of my ancestor, and they emigrated to Canada 1820s.

Rachel, if you have information about the roots of the Fiddis/Fiddes family in Fermanagh Co, or access to records that could be checked, that would be helpful. The information is I have scant.

John Bustard (born ca. 1810) of Frevagh townland, Fermanagh, had a sister Isabella, who married a George Fiddis. George had a brother named John Fiddis. Sometime before 1839, the Fiddis brothers emigrated from Ireland to Quebec Canada. I am looking for Fiddis roots in Fermanagh to try to link with John Bustard, who is my direct ancestor. Another sister of John Bustard married a Hamilton. All of these folks lived near Kilcoo or Belcoo Fermanagh, or across the river in Killyclogher, Leitrim.
If you have any leads, you can contact me directly at ragtimejean@excite.com.

George Fiddes married Isabella Bustard and they had at least three children. To my knowledge Elizabeth Fiddes was born in 1846, George in 1848, and James Rutledge Fiddes (my Great Grandfather) in 1855.
Please e-mail me; I would love to discuss other information.

Hello Rachel

This is a belated reply to your message 3 years ago. My great great grandmother Ellen Emerson married a John Fiddis and I would appreciate any informaiton you might have on the Fiddis and Emerson families. Our notes in our ancestry files indicate that they came from Enniskillen county Fermanagh and that a great great grandfather Emerson my namesake was an active Orangeman.

Are your Fiddis folks related to Jane Fiddis (1820-1903) m. John Magee (McGee) lived at North Gower, Ontario before moving to Eugenia, Ontario? Jane also had a brother Hugh Fiddis m. Anne Thompson and lived at North Gower and she had several sisters Francis (Franny), Margaret, Dorothy (Dolly m. James Armstrong and Mary m. James Robinson.

Jane and her siblings are children of James Fiddis (b.1790) and Dorothy (Dolly) Craig. She is related to the Craigs of Goulbourn and North Gower mentioned in the book by J. B. Craig (published in 1929).
