Surnames: Fitzgerald, Connell
My grandmother, Eleanor Fitzgerald was born in Listowel,Kerry baptised April 7th 1861 at St Marys and came to the US as a baby. Parents were Bridget Connell and Maurice Fitzgerald. Witnesses James Fitzgerald and Mary Woulfe. Maurice Fitzgerald, of Ballinruddela married Bridget Connell at St Marys Listowel in July 1860. Witnesses Mary Connell and Patrick Dillon.
The marriage record I have is from a typed letter, so I have wondered if Ballinruddela is correct as I cannot find any other record of such a place.
This is all I know of Maurice, and have found no record of him in the US but the wife and my grandmother came to the US about 1861, and he was probably with them. Legend says he died in the American Civil War raging at that time, but again no record. Apparantly no other children.
Does this have any connection with your family? Would love to hear from you. Charles Robinson, Omaha, Nebraska US.
