Hi Patrick,
you should see one gravestone which reads...
"Erected by High Fitzpatrick, Drumbroghas, in memory of his mother Jane who died 15th April 1891 aged 88"

I'm guessing the Month, year and age from the worn inscription.
It is right next to another Fitzpatrick headstone so the chances of a connection are high.
The other headstone reads..
In Loving memory of Eugene Fitzpatrick, Drunbrohas, Died 22 June 1960.
Elizabeth Fitzpatrick, Died 2nd January 1939.
Owen Fitzpatrick, Died 12th Jan 1963 also his wife Teresa died 17th March 1980.

Those photos should be part of the set I posted, let me know if you want original copies of the shots.

There is definitely a burial ground on the other side, Fitzpatricks, surrounded by a metal fence, though I can't seem to identify which picture it is as I can't see the fence. I'll let you know if I come across it.

Patrick,

Thank you for posting the pictures of Staghall, my Great Great grandfather Hugh Reilly married a Susan Fitzpatrick from Drumbroughas in 1883 at Staghall, her father was listed as Philip on their marriage record of 1883, family lore has it that her mother was a Jane Kilroy who probably died before Susan was married, Hugh and Susan owned a Inn in Belturbet until Hughes death around 1901? I believe they lived in Kilconny, I know Susan was from a big family, I have read that there is a burial plot surrounded by an iron fence at Staghall with Fitzpatricks of Drumbrougas in it and was wondering if you ran across the burial plot during your visit and was wondering if the graves for Philip or his wife Jane were there with dates? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Patrick O'Neill

Re: FITZPATRICK, DOWLING, CUSACK of Monasterevin (Monasterevan), Kildare, Ireland

I've done extensive research into other lines of my family that come from Kildare. The church records from there are available from the Family History Library. To my knowledge, the most complete records are those of Allen Parish that go back to 1820-1822. There are also records for Kildare, Carragh, Staplestown, Rathcoffey, and Clane, going back to various years. Kildare goes back to about 1921, Carragh to about 1949, Rathcoffey, Staplestown and Clane collectively to about 1833.

I have a database of baptisms and marriages for these parishes, for other names in my family, but I made sure that I copied the Fitzpatricks as I was going along. But since my family were for the most part famine immigrants to the US I only transcribed information at the latest through the 1850s. So I would probably not have anything that you could use.

But if you look at www.familyhistory.org, you will find the microfilms of the church records for these parishes. You might also want to check with www.brsgenealogy.com, as they have been posting the civil and church records for all the Irish counties. They have completed 22 1/2 of the 32 counties so far, and Co. Kildare is included. You can tease a lot of information out from the webstei without paying for anything. But to get a record is very inexpensive - only 5 euros.

Colleen Fitzpatrick
Co-Administrator of the Fitzpatrick DNA Study

My Sally Fitzpatrick never left Ireland as far as I know. Two of her three sons left and arrived in New York City about 1882. Sally's and her husband William Doolan (Dowling)lived in the parish of Ballyfarsoon. My grandmother visited Monasterevin a couple years ago and was able to photograph the partial remains of the Dowling stone cottage.
Langley / Fitzpatrick's in Dublin

I was wondering whether there is anyone who can help me, I have really hit a brick wall now with tracing my family tree in Dublin.

I have managed to find out that my great grandfather Robert Langley was born 20 May 1873 in No9 North Dock street in Dublin. His parents were Samuel Langley and Anne Fitzpatrick. He also had a brother called Samuel born 16th June 1875. I do not know what happened to my great grandfathers brother Samuel, the last evidence of him was in the 1901 english census, where he was living with his brother Robert in Garston Liverpool.

I am trying to find out where Roberts father Samuel was born and when and where roberts brother went (both robert and his brother Samuel were mariners). I believe Roberts mum and dad Samuel and Anne were married at St Lawrence O'Tooles church on Sherriff street Dublin 20th September 1871.

Anne's father was called Robert Fitzpatrick, mother I think was Catherine they lived on Sherriff street Dublin. Robert was a mariner but not sure what vessels he sailed on.

Samuel Langley's father I believe was called Thomas and was a farmer

If anyone has any information and can help me I would be so grateful

Regards

Paul
I am still looking for help. I did find Philip Augustus Fitzpatrick's obit today in New York City ... He died August 4, 1874 in his 46th year so I assume that puts his birthdate in 1828 or late 1827. He is listed as a native of the parish of Drumlane, County Cavan. I know he listed Belturbet as the hometown on his Emmigrant Bank card. He had a brother HUgh, who was born around 1837 and was naturalized in NY in 1857 and a sister Bridget (married to Robert McGuire) who was born in 1821 and died in NYC in 1860. I don't know how to start to parent names in Ireland. Any guidance would be appreciated. My dream is to go to Belturbet to visit and research, but I don't think I have enough now to do anything.

A few more thoughts but I still don't how to use them. My g-g-grandfather was Philip Augustus Fitzpatrick and he came to New York in 1850. He married Bridget Daly in New York City and died in 1874. I have since learned he had a brother Hugh who was naturalized in New York City in 1857 and a sister Bridget who was married to Robert McGuire in New York City. She died in 1860. Philip listed his hometown as Belurbet. I don't know if it matters but his named his first-born son John Joseph and his second born after himself .. Philip Augustus. Do you have any ideas how to pursue this.

Hi,

They were easy to find in the census records. Robert (b. Nov 1889) was a colletor for the telephone company. They lived in Forest Park on Elgin Ave near Marengo Ave. on April 4, 1930. Ruth was b. Jan 1892. The couple was married in 1912-1913. Robert and Ruth had five children: Robert, Jean, David, Lauretta, and Stephen.

Robert Sr. was born in MO, and Ruth was born in IL. All the children were born in IL. The family lived in Villa Park, IL in 1920 with Mary Fitzpatrick, Ruth's mother.

Robert was one of nine children of Mary Richardson (b. May 1853 England). They lived on N. Mozart St. in Chicago in 1910. Some of his sibs were: Lawrence W. (Sep 1878), John C. (b. Apr 1883), Lenis (Nov 1885), Kitty N. (Nov 1887), Ruth J. (Jul 1992), Myrtle M. (Aug 1994). Mary's husband (from West Virginia) died between 1894 and 1900.

Ruth was the daughter of John (b. Nov 1862 in IL, a soap maker) and Mary Fitzpatrick (b. Mar 1868 in WI), sister of Frank (b. Aug 1889) and Lauretta or Loretta (b. Nov 1895) Fitzpatrick. John and Mary were married in 1884. They lost one child, probably bet. 1884 and 1889.

If you write me directly at CFitzp@aol.com, I'll send you what I have.

I just noticed your posting. I havae Dowling family members, but they are from Co Kilkenny. However, My great-great grandfather was John Fitzpatrick from Lackagh, Parish of Monasterevin, Co. Kildare. There he married his first wife, Mary Kelly of the same location. They were married on Jan 28, 1839. They migrated to the US in 1840, lived in NYC for a short time then Quincy Massachusetts and later settled in Milford, Massachusetts. When Mary died, John Fitzpatrick married my great great grandmother Catherine Malia. Do you have any more information about your Sally Fitpzpatrick. Where in NY did they settle? John Fitz's daughter married Tim Sullivan and they settled in Jamestown, NY.

Hi. My 3 greatgrand father John Fitzpatrick was born in Drumsilla, Carrigallen c 1818. This info comes from his marriage certificate. John Married Mary Galogly in Drumcannon. My 2nd greatgrand father Philip was born in Drumcannon in 1844. He married Eliza Curry and immigrated to NYC in 1869. My Philip had a brother Robert who remained in Carrigallen and married a Brady. I do believe the Carrigallen Fitz's have ties to Beltubet. Lets talk.
Mary Ellen

Re: Wayne Thomas Fitzpatrick

Lyanne: I can probably help you. I have researched the Fitzpatrick family for more than 25 years. Your grandfather, Wayne T. (b. 1921) was the fifth born child to John Joseph Fitzpatrick (1883-1947) and Grace Elizabeth Dicus (1888-1974). John & Grace were long time residents of Anthon, Woodbury Co., IA. John was a son of Daniel Fitzpatrick (1838-1912) and Mary Teefey Shea (1850-1922). Grace was a daughter of Thomas and Carrie Clark Dicus. John and Grace were married March 2, 1911, in Sioux City, IA. They became the parents of seven children, one of which was your grandfather. We may be able to assist each other with some things (me with the older items, you with the more recent). Drop me a note if you are interested. Cordially, Mr. Kelly D. Fitzpatrick, Cedar Rapids, IA

Philip Augustus Fitzpatrick

I have posted a couple years ago but thought there might be new members who might help.

I am looking for any family information tied to Philip Augustus Fitzpatrick Sr. (abt 1830 - 1874), who was naturalized in New York City around 1852. He married Bridget Daly (1833 - 1910) and they had three children: John James (1866-1907, married Mary A. McAleenan and had one child, Grace M)., Philip Augustus Jr. (1868 - 1918, married Isabella Bogart and had five children), and Agnes E. (1872 - 1905 and who apparently never married). Philip Sr. was apparently from Belturbet in County Cavan. He apparently had a brother Hugh and a sister Bridget, who was married to Robert McGuire. All lived around 19th Ave in NYC around 1860. Bridget died in 1860, I lose track of Hugh forever and Philip A. Sr. and wife Bridget move up to 72nd Street, where they enjoy a prosperous lifestyle. Even after his death in 1874 when she is a young widow with three young children, she keeps the family home, buys and trades property and lives well. I know the family of Philip Jr. (my great grandfather) but do not know the parents of Philip Sr. or any ties to John J.'s daughter Grace (who I believe marred a George DeLacy. Any help or insight would be appreciated.

Probably coincidental, but my lineage of Fitzpatricks have Owen, James, Philip and Bernard names in several generations.
My family originate from Co.Cavan, but the earliest I can get good data for is early 1800's.
One branch moved to America and settled it Westmoreland PA. Another girl went to New York.

Re: Fitzpatrick's of New York and Wisconsin

I suspect that James S. Fitzpatrick had three brothers (all living close together in Peru, Clinton County, New York): Barney; Owen; and Philip Fitzpatrick. All four of them are listed in the 1840 US Census for Peru and are living in very close proximity. I strongly suspect that Owen and Barney were brothers, as they both immigrated to the US onboard the Sabina and arrived in New York harbor on April 29, 1825. James, Owen, and Barney are also listed in the 1830 US Census at Peru. Does anyone know who their parents were?

There is some confusion about James P. Fitzpatrick, who served during the Civil War in the 18th Wisconsin. One of his descendants beleives he was the son of Philip Fitzpatrick, but I think he was the son of James S. Fitzpatrick. It is confusing since both had sons named James, born about the same year.
