I am trying to connect my Foley's back to Ireland and having a very difficult time to say the least. I was intersted in your mention of Maher.. On my Ggrandfathers death Certificate, his mother was listed as Thayer...born in Ireland. I can find no connection to Thayer and wondered if it might have been Maher....The information was given by someone that might have confused the name... My Foley's born in Ireland are James G. and Luke, which may be J. Luke or John Luke.. James son is Thomas E. Luke's is James...the son's were born here. They were here before 1849.
