John was born ABT 1869 in Armagh,Ireland (I haven't confirmed this). John married Annie Gray on 31 Dec 1892 in Motherwell, Scotland. I have more info on the descendents of John McShane but know nothing more about his birth or his parents.

23 Mar 1870, William Kidd, full age, widower, labourer, of Ballycooly (Ballyscolly)? The son of James Kidd, labourer, to Mary Forbes, full age, spinster of Ballycraig the daughter of William Forbs, labourer.

Does anyone recognize these names or the event? I am researching Mary Forbes and her family especially her first marriage to Charles Dobbin about 1860. The family was found in Cranfield, Staffordstown, Randalstown, Ballymena, Antrim and the surrounding area of County Antrim. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm looking to contact anyone who is descended from Alexander FORBES b. abt. 1901 Scotland, came to the US abt. 1922. He married Gladys WAMBOLD b. 1912 Staten Island, NY on 20 Oct 1928 on Staten Island.

On the 1930 census they had one child, a daughter Mary.

1930 Alex & Gladys lived at 73 Seymore Ave, Port Richmond next door to Gladys' aunt Bertha LEWIS nee SKERRITT and her husband John LEWIS.

Gladys' mother was Marion / Maria WAMBOLD nee SKERRITT who was Bertha LEWIS's sister. Gladys' father was Jacob Oliver WAMBOLD.

I would like to find out if there were more children born after the 1930 census - it seems likely that there would have been given Gladys' age - and if those children are still alive, who they married, etc.

Gladys WAMBOLD was the granddaughter of Francis Henry SKERRITT who built the Temple Emanu-el in Port Richmond, Staten Island. Temple Emanu-el has been nominated for inclusion into the National Register of Historic Places. I am also a descendant of Francis and trying to learn more about the other family branches.

I am struggling to find information on my family history - any help would be appreciated. I have tried to show which parts of my story are questionable.

James Nicol "Bully" Forbes captained the clipper Marco Polo to Melbourne and back to Liverpool in 1952.

I suspect that he was born 18 December 1919 in Aberdeen, son of James Forbes and Ann Nicol.

Apparently he had two wives: 1. Jane and 2. Mary Ann Bellman.

I am particularly interested in marriage 1. Jane and their children. If anyone has any information on this marriage and their children I would be very interested.

They had 2 daughters as far as I know: 1. Mary (born at sea) and 2. Margaret Jane Nicol Forbes (m. Robert Neild 1868). I am particularly interested in Mary - I cannot find any information about her apart from her surname was Thomson at some point in her life between birth and marriage to a Stephen Meldon in 1874.

If anyone has any pointers in my search I would be happy to hear them - I don't know how to start looking for Mary's past.

Mary Forbes was the wife of Charles F. Rooney, Sr. and predeceased her husband.
Charles was born in Paterson, Passaic, NJ and died 27 July 1967 in North Haledon, Passaic, NJ. ( I have his obituary).
