GERMAIN, Edward F. & family of Glen Cove, New York 1900's

Searching for any information relating to the family of Edward F. Germain. He had a daughter Mildred Christine Germain born in Glen Cove, New York, USA 5.5.1906. She married Alfred J. Phasey in New York on 30.8.1962 (a second or a late marriage?). Mildred Phasey died in Nassau County, New York in January 1983. I believe Edward F. Germain's family have since moved on to Newport News, Virginia, USA.

Could anyone help with any information relating to any of these families?

Germain/St.Germain

I am searching for links to my great-grandfather, John H. Germain, born in French Canada in 1855. He emigrated to the US in 1869, marrying Emma Scothon Walker from Lee, New York. They were married in Camden around 1875 and lived in Lynn, Mass., also Olean, New York. Emma gave birth to four children: Wilfred Anthony, who at age 4 and again around age 40, was listed on the Census and Draft Regn. in 1917 as partially paralyzed. The second son, Harry, may have died young...he disappeared from the Census after 1880. The missing 1890 Census would answer some questions here. Their daughter, Maude, married Louis Chadwick and had twins, Mervyn, whose nickname I believe was Buster, and Myrtle. Ernest Stanley, my grandfather was born on leap year, 1896, in Olean, NY, and married Mary Evelyn Beilman, in Buffalo, NY, in 1917 or 18. I am at a loss for tracing John H. Germain into Canada...have no idea where he was born there, only that he was probably a Baptist and not a Roman Catholic. On the other hand, Wilfred listed his surname at one point as St. Germain. John worked for about 15 or more years for the General Electric Co. in Mass. before he died in the flu epidemic, Jan. 1918. Please respond to carolbruner@cox.net. Thanks!

This information came from their son's death certificate in 1918. This son came to the U.S. between 1883-1887, and changed his name to Germain GEARSON. He married Anna M. ZINKARD and they settled in Chicago where they stayed until their deaths.

Thanks!

Louis H. Germain and Catherine S. Lansing

Would love to know more about Catherine's husband Louis H. Germain.

Louis Germain was b. 1862 and died 1934.
His wife Catherine was b. 16 Dec 1862 and d. 1942 ,
She was born in Northumberland (Gansevoort), Saratoga Cty. New York,
Louis Germain and Catherine Lansing Germain
are buried together in
South Glens Falls, New York (in a small cem. next to the municipal bldgs. right in front row by black fence.

I will try to send photo attachment of the gravestone which I just found a few weeks ago, Nov '05 through a cousin who I finally found after first finding out about this other branch of my family in our family bible in the early 1980's but never followed up on until now; have been busy following all my other lines.
Any help anyone can give me on a Germain family that might have lived in this area of New York would be great. I would like to make contact with their descendants. Louis and Catherine did have children:
Louis (jr. I imagine) and Kitty Germain; I know nothing more about them except that my dad now 83 remembers an "Aunt Kitty" when he was a young boy.

I would love to be connected with others doing Germain research esp in the area of those having lived in upstate New York area. Louis Germain could have been from Canada however. I also have St. Germain's on my mother's side as well. This Germain line however is on my dad's side and I am related only by marriage however would love to know more about Lewis H. Germain and his parents etc.

Perhaps a quick glance at your database for a Louis H. Germain b. abt 1862 would find him there; I am hoping. Thanks so much in advance to anyone who can help.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Ann Lansig

Peter Germain was born about 1875 somewhere in Canada and immigrated to the US about 1879. Does not show up in the 1880 US census, or the 1881 Canadian Census. Would any Germain researchers have lost an entire Germain family or a young Peter ( Pierre ? ) in that approximate time span ? Do any Germain researchers have a family who went to anywhere in the US at that time ? I am at a loss, and am hoping someone may be able to give me a clue.

GERMAIN in New Orleans

I have a Marie Germain (abt. 1850- Aft. 1878) in New Orleans married to Francois Montegut (bef. 1852- Aft 1878). They had two children, Marie Victorine Montegut (1870-1947), and Marguerite (1872-1878).
I have been unable to find her parents, or marriage records, etc.
The only possible link I have is a Jean Baptiste Germain who was counted in the 1850 Lafayette Parish, Louisiana Census. He was from France, and listed as a "Merchant". THe household he lived in had two ladies of marrying/childbearing age, last name BRAUX.
ANY help or info greatly appreciated.

Could everyone researching Germain please shake their family trees and see if a "Marcel Germain" born abt 1832 falls out. I have been looking for any kind of info on him for a long time and keep coming up empty-handed. He was my gggrandfather who married Mary Rancourt in the early 1860's. They lived in the Fort Coulonge, Quebec area and later in Mattawa, Ontario. They had 7 daughters.
If anyone can help me I would be eternally grateful and more than willing to share what I have on his descendants.
Thanking you all in advance.

I am looking for info or desendants of Octave Germain and his
wife Mary Callaghan (?not sure). His son Edward was my
g-grandfather, who moved to Detroit, MI and married an Irish
immigrant, Mary Hanafin. Another son was named Napoleon Germain, and had children named Romeo, Antoinette, and Johnny. I found the Octave Germain family listed in the 1871
Quebec Census. .
