Hello, I am a direct descendant of James Gorman and Ellen Friels (or Fields) who were married in 1849 in Ireland. James and Ellen emigrated to Western Australia in 1853 along with their two children, Marcella (or Marella) born 1850 and Lawrence born 1851. James was a Corporal in the 13th Regiment and served as a Pensioner Guard on the convict transport Dudbrook. James was born circa 1819 and Ellen was born circa 1823. At the time of their emigration to Australia they were 34 and 30 years old respectively. I am trying to find their families. I believe Ellen's mother was also Ellen Friels or Frields or Fields and Ellen may have been born in Belfast Ireland. I don't think the family were Catholic - possibly Church of Ireland or Methodist?
Once in Australia, James and Ellen went on to have a further 7 children, James, Rosanna, Christopher, Eliza, Edward, Matthew, Ellen and another Marcella (the first Marcella died at the age of 13) just incase any of these names sound familiar to someone.
