To Laurie and others researching--I've gotten a step closer to solving this mystery. I have found which Hamilton married my great, great grandfather, Josiah Rhodes. Based on when she was born, my great, great grandmother, Clarissa Hamilton, would most likely been a granddaughter or great-granddaughter of A.H.

Along the way, I've also learned that there are sometimes those born out of wedlock who are more difficult to document. I'm not saying this is the case, but it's something I've run into.

Frances,
I am not sure how I could help. I am not online much regarding genalogical research since my dad passed away in 2006 regarding the HAMILTON side of his family. The only information I have regarding Dallas Hamilton is what was posted above. A post from SBeltz might shed some light on your Eugene Hamilton since her uncle has a similar name. You might be able to contact her about this person.
Sorry couldn't help...Alice M...Alsblugown

SBeltz...my sincere apologies for the extreme lateness in my response to your post of 8.30.2008. I am not online much regarding geneological research due to a busy schedule. After my father passed away in 2006, I have not been actively persuing any genealogical research. The information posted to the website has not been added to since.
That said, to answer your post as best as I can, I can only relate what I have posted above regarding DALLAS HAMILTON.
My information was based on his being mentioned within the obituary notice for Dallas' cousin... NORRIS F HAMILTON, my father's paternal grandfather's brother). What I gathered from that obit was that Norris visiting DALLAS and family (No mention of a wife or children, siblings, etc) in Philadelphia. While there, Norris caught pneumonia and died due to complications and DALLAS/family sent Norris' remains for burial back to Oxford, MD in Oxford Cemetery next to Norris's parents John C. Hamilton and Susan M. (Martha?)Page, {not looking at my notes here...memory} another woman...a PAGE (Susan's mother ?) and some Yearsleys.
I have nothing on JOHN C. HAMILTON beyond my posted information. I do not have information as to who his parents were or if he had any siblings.
I don't have any backup info on this theory, but it could be possible that Dallas' father [your uncle] Eugene Ridgely Hamilton was the brother of JOHN C. HAMILTON and Martha Page was related to my great great grandfather John's wife Susan M. Page.
I am sure this doesn't shed much light on your research much, but could be an avenue to persue.
Again my apologies for being so late.
Alice M.

Dallas Hamilton was married and had one son, Eugene. I went to school with Eugene and the yearbook lists his birthday as April 5th. Not sure of year but about1936. I don't know where he is now or his status but he was married at least once and divorced. There were no children of this marriage.

The family lived in Yeadon, Delaware County, Pennylvania when Dallas died and the school we went to was Yeadon High School.

I have been trying to find Eugene for a class reunion but have had no luck. I am not related.

The story of Hope Evermore is that she was a Pierce that married into the Hamilton family. Do you or anyone who reads this know anything about her and her family?

Thank you.

In 1964 I visited an aunt in Meadville,Pa. My two aunts were saying that we were related to the Hamilton/Logue family. They did not write anything down, but I figured it out. My grandfather's mother was Rosa Bower. Her parents were Sarah (Hamilton) Sarah's father was Johnathan Hamilton son of James Hamilton and Mary Agnes Hamilton. Sarah married David Bower. I don't know where. They lived in Geauga and Trumball County Ohio where they had their 3 children, Rosa, Charles E. and Ada, then Rosa lived in Oil City when she was married to Richard Foley, born in England. It was there, they raised their children.
My aunts and uncles are all deceased. They said that Rosa Foley was a dark woman, with dark hair and dark eyes. She was very strict and when they visited her they could not say Grandma, they had to say Mrs. Foley. Richard Foley died, leaving her a widow with all her young children. He was a builder of homes in and around Oil City Venango County, Pa. He was run over by his horse and buggy. A car made a loud noise, his horses jumped, he got out and tried to console them, but the heavy cart filled with lumber ran over him.
