I am searching for information about my 2nd gr-grandmother, Lucetta (Cetta) C. Harlan (initial "C" may have stood for "Cake") who married Joseph Wharton Kinsey of Illinois on June 16, 1868, in Denver, CO. She was from Tamaqua, Schuykill Co., PA. The 1870 census shows that an Arietta Harlan from Pennsylvania was living with them in Denver. By 1891 she had been committed to the Pennsylvania Hospital for the Insane in Philadelphia, PA. I have an unconfirmed date of death of 1905, place unkknown.

If anyone can offer any leads regarding her family, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Kathy Crawford

I am searching for any information in regards to Paul Harlan who was married to Goldie Earl Harlan. My name is Kenneth Dale Harlan, my father was Ellis Dale Harlan, his father was Ellis Dale Harlan SR. as well , and lastly his father was the above mentioned Paul Harlan. That is as far as I have gotten. I know that Paul eventually made his way from Kansas to Longview Washington where the rest of the above mentioned either grew up or lived there. I am trying to (in vein I might add!) find out who Pauls parents were. There are a number of us Harlans living in Washington, USA. I have quite a bit of info from Paul and his offspring, but nothing beyond that. PLEASE HELP!!! thanks so much
Kenneth Dale Harlan

James Harlan and Cook Wagon Picture 1894

Hello - I have found in an antique store near Olympia, WA an old picture of a Cook Wagon taken about 1894. There are women in the wagon and what appears to be a crew around it. A man named James (Jim) Harlan is holding a baby in the front of the picture. According to the back of the picture, this information was given by "Aunt Ada" when she was 90 yrs old. I believe the picture was taken in Washington state or Oregon. It appears to be a picture OF a picture. I'll scan and share with anyone interested.
Looking for any information on Sally (Sallie) Harlan (Harlin) and her family. Sally married Andrew McConnel(l) and they had children named Bertha and Pearl (Pearlie)—there may have been others, I only know these two names. Sally and her family lived a great deal in Tahlequah District, Indian Territory (present day Oklahoma). It is very likely that they were Cherokee slaves. Any information is welcome and greatly appreciated.

Looking for Info on John F. Brady - Married Eileen Helen Doel

I have been researching the Brady family for my good friend whose mother passed away in 1994. She has never known any of her mother's side of the family (the Brady's). I know that the family moved around a lot. I know that they lived in Michigan, California, Pennsylvania, and Florida. Here's (in a nutshell) what I know about the parents and children.

Father = John F. Brady (now deceased)
Mother = Eileen Helen (maiden name = Doel), divorced Brady, remarried, now last name is Kozan and resides in Florida

Children = John F. Brady, Jr. (last known to be in Georgia)
Denise Kathleen (Brady) Davis, Harlan, Ludwig, Crook (my friends mom...deceased 1994)
Janice Eileen Brady (lives in Florida I believe)
Lorna J. (Brady) McChesney (deceased 1990)
Tracy Augusta (Brady) David (also in Florida somewhere)

If anybody has any information or links on this family please help us. We're pretty much at a dead end here.

Thanks!!!!

Sorry about my less than sterling typing skills.

Good day everyone,

My mother, Virginia Helen Lloyd is descended from Toneat Twist via her father, Albert Lucien Lloyd. Her mother was Cherokee A. Harlan. Mom recently died and I am going through all the family history she had collected during her life but never let me see while she was alive. Her rationale was"There will be plenty of time after I am gone."

Consequently I am in possession of approximately 100 photos taken at the turn of the century (1900) and before with few names and and dates and the only person who could help me has basically "left the building."

I am in the process of scanning the photos that have names into the computer and will then post them on a website or in a yahoo briefcase. I will then start scanning and posting the unmarked photos and hopefully people will be able to identify them.

There are also hand written stories written by my grandfather that were told to him by his grandfather, Toneat Twist. I am in the process of transcribing them and will get them in a website or post them here.

When I am ready to post the documents, I will update the bulletin boards.

Once this is completed, I am considering donating the photos and other items to the Cherokee Tribe as I have no children and it seems unfair for me to keep them where they won't be of use to anyone. I haven't made a final decision as of yet, but will do so in the next couple of months.

Also, my mother wrote several stories about life on Twist-Booger Mountain and Owl Hollow which I will transcribe and post as well.

I will be posting this message on the Lloyd, Twist, Harlan bulletin boards.

Hopefully this will aid someone in my extended family in their research.

Please feel free to contact me at

kozmikdreamer@yahoo.com

with any questions, comments, and suggestions.

Regards

Jim Easley

Williamson, Harlan, Darlington: Chester Co PA 1820

During the year 1820, Yellow Fever hit the Delaware Valley and killed many of the residents. Records show that 7 of my Williamson and Harlan family ancestors died in Chester County in 1820: Joshua Williamson, blacksmith, his wife Ruth Harlan, and Ruth parents, Caleb Harlan and Margaret Cloud. My ggg-grandfather, Lott Williamson, was born that year, but went twith his brother, Robert, to live with the George Darlington family until they reached adulthood. Lott later served in the Civil War in the Company A, 51st Infantry Regiment Pennsylvania, Unit #2303. I know he married Mary Stockley, of Delaware, but that's all I know. Any connections?

Would any of you ( Harlan 's ) be kind enough to check your family history for a couple who died in a accident
in the late 1890's, whose son was placed into an Orphanage in Manchester New Hampshire. I am trying to ID my father's parents. His name was Joseph John Harlen according to the 1900 Census of Manchester
NH, residing in the Notre Dame Orphanage. The story he was told is his parents died in an accident. There is no birth record in NH for him. He was about Three years old when he entered the orphanage.
Thanks

George Harlan in 1787 Union SC

HARLAN and SPRINGER researchers, I need some input on ID'ing a George Harlan.

1/29/1787 (Union Co. SC Deed Bk A, p. 308) Joseph Breed & Catherine his wife of Wilkes Co. GA sold 100 a. to John Birdsong of Union Co. SC for 30 pounds, 14 shillings sterling. The land was on the east side of Fairforest Creek. Wit: George Harlan, Job Springer, Avery Breed. Rec. 26 March 1787.
I have been told this Job is the same one that died ca 1832 in Greene Co., Alabama. That Job is the father of John b.1785 and grandfather of Dennis b.1812. If these Jobs are NOT the same, does anyone know anything about the Job who was in Union Co., SC?
One of the Union Co SC SPRINGERS, Ezekiel Springer jr, married (first) Nancy HARLAN March 16, 1818 in Barren Co., KY I don't have a birthdate for her but Ezekiel jr is born 1799..
Here is the main question: Is the above George HARLAN and this Nancy HARLAN related? I don't have access to the Harlan book so I'm hoping someone can do a lookup for me. Sorry I have nothing else on George that would help.
Monroe Co, KY Harlan photo's

Can anyone identify any of the attached photo's. They are from the family of George & Ruth (Springer) Harlan of Monroe Co, KY. I have a total of 53 photo's that I'm trying to identify. So far I have identified 9 of them. One is of James & Sarah Turner (Ray) Harlan which was probably taken in the late 1800's. Eight other photo's are of James and Sarah's children; Nevada (Harlan) Hamilton, Elizabeth (Harlan) Appollos, Cora (Harlan) Denton, Priscilla (Harlan) Akers, Sarah (Harlan) Comer, Jane (Harlan) Reeves, John Jefferson Harlan (my wifes grandfather), and Avery Harlan with his wife Laura (Walton) Harlan.

I'm almost positive that one of the attached photo's is of George Harlan, s/o Samuel & Ruth (Springer) Harlan. The photo of the woman is probably the wife of one of the other four men.

Harlan marrying Elizabeth Bryan

Hello,
I have seen in many places, without references, that Elizabeth Bryan, who married Henry Halan, was the daughter of Robert Bryan. And, many times it is said that Robert Bryan was from Georgia and was a breeder of race horses. I am wondering if anyone knows where this information came from. I have that Robert Bryan was the son of William Bryan and Elizabeth Cole, and I don't see how Robert being from Georgia fits in with William.
Thank you very much for helping me with this!
Maggie

Has anyone out there ever heard of a HARLAN or HARLAND changing his name to HARLOAM, perhaps in the mid-1800's? My grandfather was William Harloam, 1858-1951. He raised his family around Louisville Georgia in the early 1900's. I've never found any message boards or soundex listing for HARLOAM, but that was what he went by and he has many decendants now. We just can't find any ancestors before him. Any help would be welcome.

I am looking for information on my gg-grandmother Mary Ann Harlan. John Medlock and Mary Ann had a daughter Nolie Beatrice Medlock b. 1876.

Family lore has Mary Ann as from the Creek Nation and I would love to verify that. This would have most likely been in the GA area.

Thank you so much for your help.
