Somewhere along the way the spelling of the family name got changed--supposedly from "Ten Eyck" to "Heck". I have been unable to locate records showing when, how or why this took place. The connection is made through Andreas (Andrew) Ten Eyck/Eick around the Revolutionary War. If anyone out there has any information they would be willing to share I would be eternally grateful.

My ggggrandmother is Sarah "Sally" Harrison. She married Jordon J. Heck in 1840 in Tennessee. I have no idea what her mother's name is, although the 1850 US census lists Ann J. Harrison age 83 (born in 1764 NC) as living in Sarah's household. I figure she is either Sarah's grand or great grandmother, but can find no information as to what her maiden name may have been or whom she may have married as far as the Harrison's. So "either/or" these women are MY ggggg/gggggg grandmothers and I would love to find out who they are and where they came from.

If anyone has ANY information they would be willing to share on this woman I would be forever grateful. She was shown in the 1840 US Federal Census as 83 years old living with Sarah (Harrison) Heck, and Sarah's two daughters, Hannah E. and Ann J. Heck. She would be my ggggg or even possibly my gggggg grandmother. I have found no public information other than this census, and have no idea what her maiden name could have been. I also have no idea of the first name of the Harrison man she married-probably around the late 1780's. Have no idea how many children she may have had, or the names of the woman/women between Ann J. Harrison and Sarah. Does anyone have any of this info?

Hi all! I have a Lost and Found on my website, where I post items that MAY be possible for people to link to their families. Since I've come across a HECK, I thought I'd post it here.

There are two items. The first item (first link) is an Assignment of Lease dated August 18, 1921. HECK mention: certain indenture of lease dated July 1st, 1915 made by Max P. SNYDER and Louis L. HECK, as Lessors. The second item (second link) is a Promise to pay by Val E. NEARPASS to Max P. SNYDER and Louis L. HECK dated October 22, 1930 :-)

I AM trying to sell these items, but these two have already found a home with a member of the HECK/SNYDER family. You can still take a copy of it from the site, free. You can see it at http://annalovesbooks.com/lostfound11.html and http://annalovesbooks.com/lostfound6.html and the entire Lost and Found at http://annalovesbooks.com/genealogy.html

Thanks!
Anna

Elizabeth Heck, b. 1830, married Henry Collins in Frontenac County and had 10 children before Henry died sometime after 1865.
She then married a Mr. Knifton. There were 3 Knifton children - Georgia, Etta and Frank.
I am looking for information on the Knifton family, and when and where Elizabeth and her husband lived and died.
There was a Georgia Lena Kniveton who married a Charles Arthur Sullivan in Kingston in 1890, but then the trail grows cold.
Any clues, anyone?

Diane B.
I am descended from Paul Heck's brother who remained in Ireland. Over the years my family has intermarried with other Palatine families some of whom were their first cousins. All my grandfather's family and some of his Cronesberry and Huggard relatives went to New London, CT in the late 19th century. For the past two generations (and on and off before this) the name has been spelled as Hick.
Vivien Hick

I am looking for Lucinda Adams' husband, who in letters and family diaries is referred to only as Barbara Hecks son. I believe that she and her husband lived between Brockville and Prescott on the Heck Family Farm in Ontario, Canada in the mid 1800's.
Lucinda's father was Joshua Adams, who is usually referred to in diaries and letters as "The Captian". If anyone has run across these people in their family, I would appreciate any and all help. I seem to be stalled.
Thanks in advance, Arlene

Heck family of Pennsylvania/DC

Hello! Trying my luck again on this.

I am looking for any info on William C. Heck. (b. 1828 PA, died bef. 1910... was still alive in 1900 according to census). He was a bookbinder by trade.

Census records indicate his parents were born in PA, but some records I've found state his father was born in KY and his mother elsewhere. So not sure. He married Margaret A. Delaney. She was born in 1837 in NY (both of her parents were from Ireland). They had 11 children total, but only 4 ended up living by 1900. I only know the names of a few of them:

George J. Heck b. 1864 in Washington, DC
Mary L. Heck b. 1874 DC
Elizabeth Monica Heck b. 1871 DC (she married William Henry Clague)
Maggie Heck b. 1879 DC

Elizabeth Delaney was Margaret Delaney's mother. She was born in 1815 in Ireland according to the 1880 census from DC.

If anyone can help trace this family back or has any other info on them, please contact me! I am struggling with getting back any further.

Thanks!

Doing Lookups for HECK

People researching this name who suspect their ancestors may have immigrated to Pennsylvania in the 1700s from Swiss, German, Dutch or French origins, I'll be glad to do a lookup for you in the rare book, "Thirty Thousand Names of Immigrants". Email requests to me since I won't be checking the boards for inquiries.

This book is very time-saving and informative! Hope I can help!

Erie Co., NY: Seeking descendants of Doris Heck Roemer (1915-2002)

I am seeking to connect with the sons Doris Heck Roemer and Adolph C. Roemer-- specifically John A. Roemer (with wife Sallie) and Dennis J. Roemer (with wife Rosemarie). Or with *their* children if they had any.

I obtained these names from the March 2002 death notice of Doris Heck Roemer, widow of Adolph C. Roemer, found in the Buffalo Times newspaper.

I have been unable to locate these Roemers through whitepages.com, but believe Dennis may have been in NY as late as 2002.

Doris Heck Roemer died in East Aurora, NY; her husband Adolph C. Roemer, died in 1984 in Cheektowaga, NY.

I have significant genealogical info back on Adolph's mother's side, and would love to share it with this family.

Sincerely,

Jillaine Smith
I am looking for information on Angela Heck. She married Matthias Blau before 1869. I have come up with an Angela Heck that came with her family to America around 1843 but have not been able to connect the two. She came from Britten, Merzig, Rheinland, Prussia and was born in 1839. Her parents names were Johann Peter Heck and Margaretha Leinenweber. Does anyone have any information connecting these two?
