I had often thought that old John Blaverhassett (or Blennerhassett if you wish) must have been quite a stud, what with his having a daughter at 80 years of age!
Intrigued (jealous?) I did a bit of research and the essential results are:

John Blaverhassett b:1434 m; Margaret Jayne (or Jayne) Heigham the d/o Thoamas Heigham & Isabel Fraunceys
their children were:

Thomas Blaverhassett b:abt 1452 m: Jane Sutton 1424-1427
Their children:
John 1493 m: Elizabeth Cornwalys b: 1510-17
Their only child Elizabeth m: Lionel
Throckmorton
2nd m:
Mary A. The confusion comes (partly) through assuming Jayne" of Heigham" Tyndall & Jane "Heigham" were the same "Jayne".

There is of course, quite a bit more to all of this!

My lineage is through Sir Christopher Mann foregoing, by his possible(?) grandson Richard Mann

Ron Mann

The Thomas Hobart who married Audrey Hare was of Plumstede Parva, Norfolk.

Also, Thomas and Audrey had only two sons, Miles and Henry, whose descendants remained in England for several generations.

They are not the parents of James Hubbard. Thomas, husband of Audrey Hare, was not from the family that remained in Suffolk.

Also, Eleanor Blaverhasset/Blennerhasset, was most probably born earlier than 1507, since her father, John, is documented to have been born in 1423.

Actually, there is substantial doubt that James Hubbard was related to the Hobarts at all.

CE Wood

I recommend that a Hobart researcher start a Hobart surname DNA project, preferably at FTDNA. Hobart project participants opting to compare their results to the entire FTDNA database would be notified if their results match someone in the Hubbard Surname DNA Project.
Currently there is one member of the Hubbard group that claims descent from Edmund Hobart and his DNA matches no one in the Hubbard group...0.17% chance of a relationship within 24 generations.
Recently I've had several queries from Hobart researchers. I don't want to see these folks waste their time and money joining the Hubbard Surname DNA Project at FTDNA. Thus this suggestion.

Craig Hubbard
Hubbard Surname DNA Project
Group Administrator

Hi: I am interested in a Sarah Hobart from Keene NH, who was born around 1772, and in 1790 married Jesse Hall. Could your Sarah Hobart be from Keene, NH?

Jesse Hall and Sarah Hobart had two girls Lois and Polly.

If you are trying to locate information on Sarah Hobart of Keene, NH, I might be able to help as I live near Keene and have been searching the History, Library and Cemeteries.

I wonder if this Sarah Hobart could have been married prior, to your Benjamin Noyes.

Katie at olsonke@myfairpoint.net
I'm trying to conclude the information on my great Grandfather's siblings, and am having a very difficult time locating data on one of his brothers, John William Hobart. The information being sought is his date/location of death.

John was born 21 February 1875 in Marathon County, Wisconsin. Last located in Spokane City, Spokane County, Washington in the 1930 census. He never married.

I hope someone can guide to the information being sought.

Thank you.

Stephen

Hi Barb,

Thank you for replying to my inquiry.

I'd suspected that there was a family connection between James P and Martin, but, have been unable at present to locate documentation beyond the Land Patents and the censuses to iether prove this or that would tell me that I'm on the wrong path. As of yet, I've not acquired a copy of death records for iether man, thus am uncertain if they would list parentage; as such information wasn't often provided on these records in the late 1800's. I hope you'll pardon my asking, but, may I inquire of your source?

I'm also working on the family lore that James and Mary had owned a hotel in Eagle River called the Hobart Hotel. Hopefully I'll find something on this when I'm in Eagle River this summer searching for additional information on the family.

I have found that James had passed from this life in 1892 (city and county unknown at this time) in WI and that James and Mary's graves are in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Wausau, WI.

Mary's mother was Hannah (NEE unknown). She was born abt 1820 in Massachussettes, died 15 October 1889 in WI, married Levi (b: abt 1807, d: 1887) abt 1837 in Ohio. Hannah and Levi's graves are also in the Pine Grove Cemetery. I'll be paying my respects to our ancestors this summer while also researching Wausau.

Thank you, again, for responding to my posting.

Stephen
(stevinmn@aol.com)
I have an original Cabinet Card family photograph of “Will Hobart and family”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in Nashua (Hillsborough Co.) NH, and the parents look to be about 33 and 25 or so. Children in the photo are sons, aged 4 and 3 and 2, who surely are the first 3 children, Clarence, Clayton and Harold.

I found the family of Will Hobart in the 1900 and 1920 censuses of Nashua, NH, as follows: In 1900, Willie A. (Dec 1853) and wife Hattie E. (Nov 1863), children Clarence A. (Sep 1882), Clayton B. (Sep 1883), Harold S. (Sep 1884), Edith H. (Jul 1889), along with Willie’s mother in law Emily H. Rideout (Jul 1836).

In 1920 Nashua census are Will A., Hattie E., and children Clayton D. and Emily H.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to the family of Will A. and Hattie (Rideout) Hobart.

William Hamilton Hobart of Ohio and Crawford Cty, PA

William Hobart reported he was born circa 1836 in Ohio. Census reports show that his father was from New Hampshire.
Civil war records note that he served in the Navy on board ship. Apparently was wounded.
He settled in Sugar Grove township, Mercer County, PA and later in Hartstown borough, Crawford County, PA where he was a shoemaker. He married Eliza Furness (Furniss) who was born in Ohio.
Later in life he reported his name was Hamilton Hobart, though William was his baptismal name and the name he gave his son William James. William Hamilton Hobart died in 1916 and is burned in Hartstown, Pa.

I'm having tracking the roots in OHIO. There are several William Hobarts in the line.

POW/MIA Korean War HOBART

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Crawford County, Pennsylvania as his home of record.

Soldier: RICHARD HENRY HOBART
Born: 1931
Date of loss: November 2, 1950 POW
RA13336297
L Co 8th Cav Rgt, 1st Cav Division

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
My GG Grandfather was John Hobart. Name changed to Hubbard in the late 1800s. He was married to Bridget Culliton who was also from Ireland. It would appear that they were in St. Louis MO USA by the 1860s according to Census data.
Unsourced details on the internet indicate 2 wives for Benjamin Noyes: Sarah Hobart & Hannah Farnham (sometimes stated as Sarah Farnham & Hannah Hobart). There are a number of children and I would like to attach them to the correct wife. Does anyone have any information on a Hobart family in New Hampshire around Rev War time? I have very little info about Hobarts but am very willing to share anything I have --- many facts and sources for Noyes. TIA, Darillyn Posey Doss

I am also in search of Walkill, NY Hobert's/Hobart's. I am at a brick wall with John Thomas Hobert b. 31 May 1828 (I have seen an earlier b.d.), m. Mahala Jane Wheaton, d. 15 Feb 1912.
He was in the 1840 and 1850 census for Walkill. Do you have any reference to him?
NY state did censuses in the mid-decades. I am not sure if one from Walkill, NY still exists. Have you tried to check that? That may give some clues.
By 1850 John's father was dead and his mother was listed on the census as "Mary Hobert".
Both parents were listed as born in NY.

I found your post when looking for any information on this family. I am doing a genealogical research on the Dopkins/Dopking families and their descendants. Amelia J. Parks married Frank Hobart and had daughters: Rosa, Agnes J., and Tenny M. (or Tennie). I do know that Amelia was a patient at Cherokee State Hospital for the insane and listed as divorced according to the 1910 and 1920 Census. I do not find anything for her after that. Tenny and Agnes are living with their father and his new wife in St. Paul, Minnesota during that time and both girls are listed as students in 1920. I think Agnes became a doctor. I know that Rosa married a Jorgensen, but don't have much on her. I do not have any definate birth dates or death dates for children of Amelia & Frank Hobart or their subsequent families. I do, however, have further information on Amelia's parents and siblings. I would be interested in what you have on Amelia's death and her children.

Another Civil War Hobart was my great grandfather, William Hamilton Hobart. He was a seaman, according to the 1890 veterans schedules. Year enlisted 1863. Year discharged 1864. His parents were from New Hampshire (family came from England in 17th century, then migrated up from Massachusetts). William Hamilton Hobart was born in Ohio in 1836 and died in Hartstown, PA 1916.

The Hobart family was a large one and we could have some common ancestors. Please contact me if this would be helpful.

Re: Edmund Hobart (Hubbard)

Hello, Edmund Hobart was a well-known English gentleman, a Puritan who funded an expedition of three ships to the New World in the 1630's. I am descended from his oldest daughter, Nazareth. The Hobarts founded (and settled in) Hingham, Massachusetts. The line in England can be traced back to the 1580's. They came from Norfolk (Hingham, England) and Norwich. One branch of the family was made the duke of Buckinghamshire. Peter Hobart was the first minister in Hingham, MA and his brother Joshua was leader of the militia in the area and rep. to the colonial government. There is much information regarding this family on ancestry.com and on the internet. Margaret Watson

Researchers are finding several spellings for the Hubbard,Hobart,Hebert,Hibbert and several other surname spellings. At WWW.FamilyTreeDNA.com males of these surnames can join the project. I joined with a cheek cell sample from my brother. You can view the results by going to WWW.FamilyTreeDNA.com and type the family surname in the search engine. Choose ( Y-results )to view details.
I am looking for Hobart males to join the project. My family resembles Robert Hobart 1760, and DNA matches of other surnames were found in Australia where Hobart lived.
My Hubbard line startes in New England all though we know they were born in England, but no records before that.

Civil War Hobart

I'm researching the Fifth Iowa Cavalry and host wwww.scriptoriumnovum.com/c.html with the history and related items. James Hobart served in the regiment. His father, Chauncey Hobart subsequently enlisted in another regiment as a chaplain in order to be closer to his son. Would be eager to learn more about either or both veterans. Thanks.
Rob Stroud

I am interested in Edmund Hobart's second marriage to the widow of the Rev. John Lyford. Her name was Sarah. I am decended possibly from her and John Lyford and wondered if anyone knows what happened to THEIR children. One son returned to Ireland and upon his death made his brother his heir. Since the second son Mordecai was a minor his estate was held by Edmund. Does anyone know what happened to the sons?
Thank you for any help that you can give.
