Greetings,

Troy Ransom Icenhour is my great-great uncle. My great grandmother is his older sister Lillie Belle Icenhour Pennell. I don't have much information on the Icenhour side of the family, but I will share what I do have.

Avery Columbus b. Dec. 23, 1860 d. 1938. He married Nancy Lucinda "Lucy" Barlow Jan. 31, 1894. She was born April 10, 1869 and died in1943. Both are buried in the Kings Creek Baptist Church cemetery. Lucy is the daughter of Horton Barlow and Nancy Maltba.

The parents of Avery Columbus are David L. Icenhour and Mary Ann Mcalpine. David died in 1874. Mary was born in1841 and died in 1908. She also buried in the Kings Creek Baptist Church cemetery.

As a child I remember visiting with Aunt Virgie and Aunt Jessie when in Lenior. I can see her rocking on her porch right now. She was very kind.

I hope this information is helpful.

Best Wishes,
Lisa

One of my ancesters, Catherine M. Spithaler born 3/25/1891 in Butler, PA. died 8/20/1965 married Jerome (Rome) Jefferson Icenhour born 10/12/1889 died 3/1970. They had 4 children that I found in the 1930 census: Florence M. born Abt. 1914 in PA, Dale L. born abt. 1915 in PA, Bertha Mae born 2/22/1921 in W. VA. died 6/22/1962 married & divorced Mr. Dojack & Jean M. born abt. 1927 in PA.

They were living in Shadyside,Belmont County, Ohio in the 1930 census. Then in 1942-1947 in Bellaire, Belmont Co. Ohio & from 1965-1970 in Jacobsburg, Belmont Co. Ohio.

From the 1942 draft registration for W W II, Jerome listed he was born in Pomeroy, Ohio & a person who would know where he was, was a Minerva Icenhour who was living at the same address: West 23rd St., Bellaire St. Could this be Catherine's middle name, or a second wife?

If anyone can help me add on to this, please email me directly at: gjweiss@hargray.com.
Isenhour/Icenhour's of Alexander/Burke County NC

Hello- my grandfather was Harold Isenhour, born in Alexander county 18 July 1923, married in Hickory, NC, died March 22, 1988, and buried in a cemetery in Taylorsville NC. As a child my grandmother would take me there to see his grave, as well as others of the family. I know he changed the name from Icenhour to Isenhour, and I have reason to believe that he is related to Clay H. Icenhour, who's lineage goes back through Dauphin County Penn., and further to Germany in the 1600's. The problem is that I am missing this piece, between Clay and my grandfather. Perhaps they were cousins- Clay was born on Sept. 14 1923, just months after my grandfather. I know Clay's father is supposed to be Ross C. Icenhour, and his wife and two other children may still be alive. Any connections that anyone could make would be wonderful- thanks!

Dixie, my original posting did not go thru. I wrote that I would be happen to correspond with you as I have collected over 22,000 Eisenhauer family names in the main tree of those who emigrated to US before 1760. Families who immigrated after that date are nto so easy to connect to a particular mainsteam tree.
I would like Michael's grandparents and especailly if you have great-grandparents because anyone born after 1910 is hard to track wheras if you can get back into the 1800s it is much easier to find. I would like to have dates and places of birth, marriage and deaths, where buried as well as occupations, military service, degrees of higher ed. ect.

Lppk forward to hearing from you.
Col.
Jacob and Myra Icenhour, Alexander County, NC c1860

Jacob L Icenhour (c1835-1862) and his wife, Myra Matheson Icenhour (c1841-?), of Alexander County, NC were my great-great grandparents. Amanda, their oldest child was born around 1858, married to Robert Moose c1875 and their daughter, Amy Lillian Moose married William David Benfield in July 1901. Will and Amy were my grandparents and I have good information on their descendants. I know that Amanda had a brother, Nathan born in 1861, but don’t know about any other siblings. Below are some items of interest.

When and where did Jacob die, where is he buried and is there a marked grave?

When did Myra die, where was she buried?

Any additional children from the above and information on their descendants (1880 census suggest that there were several).

When did Amanda Icenhour Moose die and where was she buried? I believe that she was alive at time of 1900 census, but have nothing beyond that. Robert Moose died in 1930 and was buried at the Stony Point Cemetery.

Would like to communicate and exchange information with anyone who has detailed information on this line. You may respond to this message board or direct to my e-mail address.

Dave Benfield
Todd, NC

Do you have any information on Nathan Monroe Lafayette ICENHOUR of Alexander County, North Carolina. He was born in June 1861, the son of Myra ICENHOUR. On 5 March 1896 he married in Alexander County, NC Myra Mahala CLINE, the daughter of Simon CLINE and Clarissa Harriet PRICE; she was born in June 1875 in Alexander County. They were on the 1900 census of Alexander County and on the 1910 census of Catawba County, Nolrth Carolina. I have not been able to find them on the 1920 census. Nathan and Myra had the following children:1. George ISENHOUR, born 24 March 1877, died April 1985 in Baltimore, Aryland; 2. John ISENHOUR, born 11 January 1899, died May 1979 in Gaston County, North Carolina; 3. Charles ISENHOUR, born 4 April 1900, died 18 May 1994 in Guilford County, NorthCarolina; 4. Jonas ISENOUR, born ca 1902; 5. May ISENHOUR, born ca 1904; 6. Stella ISENHOUR, born ca 1905; 7. Bertha ISENHOUR, born ca 1907; and 8. Walter ISENHOUR, born ca 1909. I am especially interested in information on Nathan and Myra for a book I am doing on the Payne family of western North Carolina.

My great-great grandfather was Otis Howard Carley. His wife was Virginia M. Icenhower, Dyer. Her father was Jacob Icenhower,a dark complected Dutchman. Jacob was born 1770-1780, died May 3, 1835. Virginia's mother was an English woman named Annie. I have more information from that point to now, but I am trying to find out the ancestory of Jacob and Annie.
