KENDRICK GA>AL

I'm researching the family of my gg grandmother Sophronia Emily Kendrick who married Ulysses Lewis Martin. Sophronia was born on June 23, 1843 in Georgia and died September 24, 1929. She is buried in Dothan, Alabama. Her father was Richard Kendrick (born abt. 1802) in Georgia and his wife's name was Penelope. They moved to Russell County, Alabama between 1851-1853. All of their children were born in Georgia except Henry who was born in Alabama about 1853. Their children were Zebulon, Eugene, Alonzo, Sophronia, Alphonzo, Lenidus?, Hezekiah and Henry. There is an Elijah and Mary Kendrick with daughter Frances living nearby on the 1860 census for Russell County, Alabama. Does anyone recognize any of these names. I'm trying to establish where I should start looking in Georgia. I have been able to find anything on Richard Kendrick. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

His name was St. Clare Charles Kendrick and all I know is he was raised in Allentown PA. His death certificate lists his dad as Charles H. Kendrick of England and his mother as Mary Mccoullaugh birthplace unknown. According to my dad he had no family whatsoever but I think there must be someone out there. He was born in 1921.

Trying to figure who a Moses Daniels decends from.

A Moses Daniels 1768 - 9/1855 is buried in Beechwood Cemetery, Olean..

On 1855 Kendall NY census, a Moses Daniels was living with Paul Kendricks..
CHARLES HOWES KENDRICK Mary M Kendrick spinster Wa. state

Hi all you Kendricks out there. I am trying to find a link between a Charles Howes Kendrick, whom paid a bill for Mary M Kendrick (spinster) about 1917
in Valley, Washington. This is where my ggrandfather, James H Kendrick had
a home and land. It is a very small town, and I cannot imagine these people not
being related. I have not been able to find the roots for James Kendrick and this
connection may lead to a link. The Howes for a middle name is sure a clue. Is
anyone out there a descendant of this line that may have some info? My James
Kendrick was born between 1838 AND 1845 possibly in Canada. His parents
were supposedly born in Pa. Mother's name Susan (maybe McDonald) James
married Amanda Shannon 1887 in Iowa (there is an Albert Kendrick living in Floyd co.Iowa ) . Maybe he was living with Albert. Albert was a doctor from
the N.Y. area. James was raised by extended family or friends after his mom
and dad were lost at sea. Thanks Kay Neubauer nqh@earthlink.net

Nancy KENDRICK, b 1812, d/o Patrick Peyton KENDRICK Jr., VA

Looking for any info on my direct line, Nancy KENDRICK, b. abt. 1812 in Tazewell Co., VA, married 1832 to Marcus Aurelius Patrick WHITT, b. 1809 in Tazewell Co., VA. I've found lots of info on Nancy's line going back as far as Scotland, but would love to know more about the family and chat with descendants. Also I don't know much about Nancy, except for the fact that she married Marcus. Nancy and Marcus lived in VA, MO and AR. If anyone is trying to keep track of the family tree, I might be able to help with Marcus and Nancy's children, and even some grand and great, great, grandchildren, including me!! I'm also trying to find info on the parentage of Marcus Aurelius Patrick WHITT; I've reached a dead-end. Any and all help appreciated and would look forward to sharing what I have as well.

My grandmother was Hannah Elizabeth Kendrick, 1860-abt.1900 to 1904. She married Hugh Beasley Terrill abt. 1890. Had 3 sons-Prosper, Loren, and Albert. Also one daughter-Molly Vera. We were always told she was buried in Vaughn, TX. Probably the Baptist church cemetery. We do know that Prosper lived in Waco. Loren stayed with grandfather and Albert lived in Hillsboro. If anyone can verify this, I would be grateful. B.Frye

I need help with my Mississippi Kendrick grandfather. His name was listed as J. G. Kendrick on Jan. 1, 1894 when he married Dora Crouch in Mississippi. On the 1900 census
Dora was a widow living with her brother in Itawamba Co.
My father, Ozzle Lucien Kendrick was 11 months old on that census. Need to connect J. G. Kendrick (I think the J. was Joseph) to his parents. Please help me crack this brick wall.
My father said he had some Kennedy cousins in Itawamba Co., if thats any help. Helen K.
Hynson, Peregrine, death date and children

I hope you can answer some questions or pass on some sources.

Several family trees I’ve found have Rebecca Ellis marrying Peregrine Hynson in 1786 in Cecil Co. MD, then marrying John Carman in 1798, all this with Peregrine dying in 1799 after having children Sarah and Ann with Rebecca. These trees also have John Carman and Rebecca having children Mary, Rachel, Woodmance and John Carman.

I have my gg-grandfather Daniel Kendrick marrying Mary Hinson (I believe should be Hynson since no other Hinson in Cecil or Kent Co. MD in time frame) on 5 Dec. 1812 in Cecil Co. I also have a John Carnan (not Carman) of Cecil Co. marrying Rebecca Hynson on 13 Dec 1798. In addition, I have a letter from John Carnan written to Daniel Kendrick in 1818 (Daniel had removed to Ohio by then). Keeping in mind that in those days the distinction of son vs. son-in-law and daughter vs. step-daughter was usually not made, John in his letter addressed it to "My dear Son D Kendrick" and discussed in one place "my Daughters" and at the end "my love you, Mary, Rachel & children". He also discussed coming to Ohio (this is 1818) without mentioning his wife Rebecca whom these trees have dying in 1816. Since Daniel married Mary Hinson/Hynson and not Mary Carman/Carnan and if a true child of John post his marriage to Rebecca would have been at most 14 at marriage to Daniel, I have formed the following hypothesis:

Peregrine Hynson and Rebecca had a Mary (vice Sarah or Ann?) Hynson prior to Peregrine's death (or within 9 months) and there was no Mary Carnan. Rachel could have been a Carnan - younger sister going to Ohio to help sister Mary with her children (including my g-grandfather William Kendrick born in 1815 in Cecil Co.) Also note that census of that time (1810) has John Carnan vice Carman in MD.

Any ideas, comments, sources, or hints would be appreciated, sincerely,

Dave Bash
bashandoliver@msn.com

I have been in touch with Vicars, Barkers, Kaylors, and Statzers but I have yet to find a single Kindrick researcher who may have a website or vast info.

I come from:
Martha Washington Kindrick & George Washington Statzer
Emit B.

Am looking for a marriage between a Kendrick and a Pyne, which would have led to a series of Pyne family members using Kendrick as a middle name.
The earliest I know of is a James Kendrick Pyne born around 1785 and living in Crayford , Kent. Another two generations at least continued to use Kendrick in the name. To date I can find no record of a marriage between the two families, but others tracing Kendrick ancestors might have come across one. Possibly looking for a connection in the 1780's and likely locations are in Kent, Devon or London.
Thanks
Jeremy

Is anyone a out there a descendant of people mentioned in this letter written in 1925? I believe Louisa Bailey is related to me. I would like to know where the copy of the mentioned deed is. Thanks for any help you might be able to give.
Hon. John C. Daves,
214 Chamber of Commerce,
Baltimore, Md.

Mr. dear Mr. Daves:- In the past two years I have found
some data on one of my ancestors which I feel sure makes
him an eligible ancestor for membership in the Society of
the Cincinnati. Being a member on my Hill ancestry, I am
anxious to qualify one of my cousins and have him become a
member of the North Carolina Society, and write to submit
my findings and to ask you to advise me whether my cousin
is eligible to membership in the North Carolina Society
or not.

In the Department of Archives, Virginia State Library, is
the following record:

“Virginia Continental Army Lands.”
February 15, 1822.

“Roll of Officers of the sixteen Virginia Regiments
of the Continental Army, who received land bounty
in the States of Kentucky and Ohio.”

Among them, under lists of Lieutenants, Ensigns & Coronets,
is
William Randolph, allotted 4,000 acres.

Following the lists is the certificate:

“I certify that the above is a full and correct copy of a
large printed circular, now in this library, entitled,
“Virginia Continental Army Lands” “Dated Feb. 15, 1822.”

Morgan P. Robinson, Archivist.

July 15, 1915,
Virginia State Library.”

As you probably know land warrants were issued under act
of 1779, as follows-
For three years service- Colonel 5,000 acres
- Lt. Col. 4,500 “
- Major 4,000 “
- Captain 3,000 “
- Subalterns 2,000 “
- Non Coms. 200 “
- Privates 100 “

[page two]

Mr. J.C.D. #2

Lt. William Randolph was granted 4,000 acres, which shows
he served over 3 years, and had rank not lower than
Lieutenant. This is states as he is listed among the
Lieutenants, Ensigns and Coronets. Neither of the latter
could be issued the amount issued to Lt. Randolph as shown by the records filed with the report on Lt. Randolph.

Lt. William Randolph was my great great grandfather,
emigrating to Surry County, N.C., where he married my great
great grandmother Louisa Bailey. They emigrated to
Tennessee settling in Roane County, where in 1809 Lt.
Randolph purchased land in this Roane County from his
brother John Randolph. In 1815 Lt. Randolph sold his land
om Roane County and returned to Surry County, N.C. Just
before the sale of said land in Roane County in 1815,
Louisa Bailey Randolph died and is buried in this Roane
County, Tenn. Sarah Randolph, daughter of Lt. Wm. & Louisa
(Bailey) Randolph, married in 1814, Roane County, Tenn.
Samuel Sumpter Owens and were the parents of Martha Susan
Owens who married John Kendrick, who were the parents of
Margaret Amanda Kendrick who married Isaac Alexander Hill
and were the parents of Cap Kendrick Hill. After the death
of Lt. Wm. Randolph’s wife Louisa in 1815, he returned to
Surry County, N.C., where in 1816 he married as his second
wife, Dorothy Poindexter, widow (nee Bailey) sister of his
first wife Louisa. This is proven by deeds to lands in
Surry County, N.C. which show they were Dorothy Bailey
Poindexter’s part of lands she inherited from her father
Gamaliel Bailey, said lands being in “Bailey’s Bottom”.
Deeds in Surry County, N.C. are signed by both William and
Dorothy Randolph. About 1848 the part of Surry County in
which Lt. Wm. & Dorothy Randolph lived was cut off into
Forsyth County, N.C., where Lt. William Randolph lived at
the time of his death about 1848-49.

From the above, I trust you can accept an application for
membership in the N.C. Society of the Cincinnati. I am
anxious for my cousin to join the N.C. Society, first
because I am a member, second Lt. Randolph lived and died
in N.C., and Tennessee, which was formerly a part of N.C.

I will very much appreciate your passing on this matter and
advising me, which I assure you will be very much
appreciated.

With kind regards and best wishes, I am,

Cordially yours,

Cap Kendrick Hill

CKH/K

Lt. Wm. Randolph is in the line accepted by the Colonial
Dames for membership of my mother Mrs. Margaret Amanda
Kendrick Hill, #2303.

==================================================
Transcription copyright © RoaneTNHistory.org 2005.
All rights reserved.

Archivist:
Transcription and scan by G.
Drury Kendrick, b ca 1790 GA, d ca 1870-1880 TX

Drury Kendrick, son of James Kendrick and Tabitha Rogers, was born around 1790, possibly in Wilkes or Washington County GA.

He married Hannah Amy Holland on December 3, 1812, in Putnam County GA. She was born on August 16, 1794, in GA.

Their children were Kenyon (b 1813), Georgia (b 1815), John Rogers (b Sept 27, 1817), William Holland (b 1820), Isaac Drury (b 1822), daughter (b ca 1824), Amelia (b Sept 11, 1826), daughter (b ca 1829), daughter (b ca 1831), son (b ca 1833), James Olando (b 1836).

Between 1850 and 1860, the Kendricks moved to Newton County MS. I have no record of Hannah's death, but it probably occurred in MS. Can anyone help me out? Drury moved to Texas with his son, John Rogers Kendrick, after Hannah's death. It appears that Drury died between 1870 and 1880. Again, can anyone help me out?

William H Kendrick of Guilford Co, NC and Patrick Co, Va

Trying to find information on William H Kendrick or Kendricks, born about 1872 probably in Patrick Co. Va. He first married Lula Jane Craig on 6 Nov 1898 in Patrick Co.Va. He had several children by Lula. William then married my Aunt, Celia Childress, born 1894(daughter of Henry C Childress b 1850 and Elizabeth McCrary, b 1871 of Wilkes Co. NC)19 Aug 1922 in Guilford Co. NC. The story is Celia died in childbirth of twin boys, Warren Harding Kendricks and William Craigg Kendrick, born 28 Nov 1920 in Guilford Co, NC. When I found the birth records, the mother is listed as Lula Jane Craigg. One baby died early 1921. The surviving twin was taken in by the Carter family and he used the Carter name. He was killed in the 1950's in a motocycle accident. I cannot find any other records regarding Celia nor could I find any death records for the twin. The family insist that Celia was the mother of the twin boys. William then married his siter in law and had more children.
Does anyone know about this family?

I am looking for information about my great-grandmother, Nora Kendrick. She was born in Robertsdale Alabama, 3 July 1882. She was married to William Gordon Walker and in 1913 she married Thomas Cooper. I'm not sure if William Gordon died or if they were divorced. I think her father may have been Alonzo or Alphonzo Kendick.

Two of her daughters (Marie Walker and Florence Walker) may have lived with their uncle Leonidas Kendrick for awhile.

Can anyone help or fill in the gaps?

Thanks

Cranes who went to Georgia with the Church Family in early 1800's

The Cranes went the Church family (Benjamin Church) from SC or NC and ween to Georgia in the early 1800's. I do not know the names of the Cranes. They were in Franklin co Ga by 1818. Benjamin Church was listed on the 1818 Franklin co Ga tax list. Habersham co Ga was fromed in 1820 from Franklin co Ga. They are listed on the 1820 Habersham co Ga census. If any Crane researcher knows who these Cranes were that were friends of the Chruches in SC and Georgia in the late 1790's and the early 1800's please reply. thanks

ALFRED G KENDRICK, KENT, ENGLAND

I am trying to trace relatives of Alfred G Kendrick listed in the 1881 Census as age 16, born abt 1865 in Greenwich, Kent, England, Parish of Lewisham. The address he was living in at the time of the Census was 7 Maythorn Cottages. I am unable to access any other Census so cannot trace him any further. I believe he is that father of my grandfather, Alfred Ruthven Kendrick who came to Australia early 1900's. Alfred Ruthven Kendrick was 25 years old when he enlisted in the Australia Imperial Forces in 1914, and he has noted his father as Alfred G Kendrick living in Rosmount, Deal, Kent at that time. Can anyone help me please?

For several years I have been researching Margaret Ann Hannan (Anderson) Kendrick and find there are many gaps in her life that I am not aware of. She was born in Cork Co., Ireland so I am told (1859-1923). Would love to confirm this info and trace back to find who her parents were and who her siblings were. She came to the states and married a man by the name of Frank (Francis) Anderson and when he died she married a Lawrence Kendrick. After Lawrence died I kinda lost track of her whereabouts and then am told she married a Fred Wilcox before she died in 1923. Any info anyone would like to share I would greatly be appreciative of. Thanks in advance.

Pennsylvania Kendrick families

I am still hoping to connect with any Kendrick family in the Penn area around 1850. I have a little new info on my James Kendrick. I finally have found where he gave the same birth year twice!! Twice he stated he was born in 1850--- in October, so it probably would be AFTER the 1850 census was taken!! I do not know what area or county he was born in, but do believe he had German influence. He was a carpenter, violin builder, coffin builder, barn builder, went to the Methodist Episcipol church after moving to Iowa. Very blue eyes.
Appears tall in old photos and his sons were large men. Any ideas on how to search for someone born after the 1850 census? It is told, that his parents were lost on a ship on the great lakes after his birth. He was raised by family.
New info on John Kendrick born abt 1814. VA son of Thomas Kendrick

I have found new info that ... John Kendrick born ca 1814 in Washington Co, VA husband of Rebecca Eaton, did not died in Menifee Co, KY... But LEFT Rebecca sometime between 1868 and 1870 and is living with another Wife and her children in Lawrence Co Ohio. They are listed in 1870 & 1880 census for Lawrence Co, Ohio ... In the 1880 census ...listed next door to John Kendrick .. is his and Rebecca Eaton's son, Martin Kendrick with his second wife Nancy Angeline and their son John M. Kendrick ... In 1900 census Cabell Co, WV, Martin Kendrick and wife Angeline are living next to Martin's sister Elizabeth Kendrick and husband John Barker ...
Rebecca Eaton Kendrick wife of John Kendrick, was listed in 1880 census for Menifee Co, as widow ... I'm sure she knew her husband John had left her ... and it appears some of their children knew . John Kendrick's 2nd wife was Ludena Fagate who married in Washington Co, VA William H. Wheatley on Dec 20, 1850 ... Ludena and William had 7 children all born in VA.. John Kendrick son of Thomas Kendrick and Mary Rush and husband of Rebecca Eaton ... I'm sure died in Lawrence Co, OH, He is not buried at the Lovelace Cemetery ... Now I question is Rebecca Eaton Kendrick is??? Tina S. Cloud
Death of Sarah Kendrick Reaves

Hi all,

Just an update regarding the date of death for Sarah Kendrick Reaves who was the daughter of Mary Parker and Jesse Kendrick and grand daughter of Elder John and Sarah White Parker. Sarah Kendrick married Joseph Reaves/Reeves on
02 May 1822 in Lauderdale County, AL. Sarah and Joseph Reaves children were: J.O., Joseph Allen, Sarah, Mary, George W and Nancy Emaline. Son Joseph Allen Reaves married Samantha Caledonia Johnson and daughter Nancy married William Walter Johnson.

The belief that Sarah Kendrick Reaves, daughter of Jesse Kendrick and wife Mary Parker died in 1888 while on a visit to MO is erroneous. She actually died in Milam County, TX in Jan 1880 where she had been living with her son Joseph Allen
and his family. The 1880 Mortality schedule for the 1880 Federal Census, Milam County, TX states that Sarah Reaves died in Milam County in January 1880. The schedule states her name as Sarah Reaves a white female, age 78,
born in TN and widowed. She had lived in Milam County for 9 years. The cause of death was also listed. See transcription and source below.

Please see attachment for a copy of the schedule.

Gladys Tovrea Brandstoettner

1880 Mortality Schedule to the 1880 Census for Milam County, TX.
U.S. Federal Census Mortality Schedules, 1850-1880 Record
Name: Sarah Reaves
Gender: Female
Race: White
Marital Status: Widowed
Place of Birth: Tennessee
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1802
Age: 78
Month of Death: Jan
Cause of Death: Inflammation of Bowels
Place of Death: (City, County, State)
Precinct 5, Milam, Texas
Census Year: 1880
Residency Country: United States
Image Source: Census Place (City, County, State): Precinct 5, Milam, Texas;
Roll: T1134_60; Page: ; Enumeration District: 105;Line Number: 4.
Source Information:
Ancestry.com.

I am searching for James Henry Martin Kendrick's Ancestors. His father's name is said to be John and mother,Mary Nash. James was said to be a descendant of the Choctaw tribe but I have a feeling that it was the Nash side of the family. I could be wrong.

James married a Mary Catherine Givens from Ireland. He was located in Lowndes County, MS Census. Later he & his family moved to Choctaw (Van Buren), AR.

One of their daughters Mary E. "Nellie" & husband Peter Harrison Tipton moved on to Okla. Another daughter, Susan Ann married a James Wesley Jackson and they were my grandparents. A son Alvin B.C. Kendrick moved late in life to Santa Maria, CA and I am looking for his Daughter Ethel Kendick who married a Floyd King.

If anyone out there can help me, I'd be indebted to them.

God Bless,

Twila L. (Wilkinson) Presley

Orpha died in 1963 and her son, John in 1992

If anyone has any information on descedents, it would be much appreicated, my husband really doesn't know anything about his mother's family..
