I have a picture of the "Schenectady cousins" but don't know who they are. I can share that pix with you via email.
Ruth Kelly, married to Alva Kelly was my great, great grandmother. Until I found your query on Google I was running up a blank wall trying to discover her parents. Presently, I have no knowledge of Sarah. Of Ruth's parents I would give a guess that they would be Issac & Esther as Ruth & Alva named one of their children, "Isaac." Speculation. Need documentation, however, to be valid. What other info can I share with you? Thank you.

Was Sarah Kenyon the mother of James Webster?

I am a descendant of James Webster and Hannah Woodmansee through their daughter Hannah Webster (b. 8 Jun 1747). I am curious about something in the Webster family tree I have. James Webster (c. 1717-c. 1777)'s father was John Webster (c. 1684-1783). I have two wives recorded for him, a Ms. Rogers, daughter of a James Rogers (d. 1719), and a second or first wife named Sarah Kenyon (1684-c. 1723), the daughter of John Kenyon (1655-1732) and Anna Mumford (1668-1746). Does anyone know which wife was the mother of James Webster? Online searches seem to throw in question whether or not John was even married to a Kenyon. Also, there seems to be possibly some issue as to John Kenyon's wife, Anna Mumford. Was this Anna Mumford really his wife, because she was born in Rhode Island, but her daughter and husband in Oldham, Lancashire, England? My tentative conclusion is that there is no reason to dismiss Sarah Kenyon being John's wife. In fact, I think perhaps Sarah was the mother of James and other children and Ms. Rogers was either his first or second wife. What do any Webster Family researchers think?

Hi Peter!
The book Usergolds referred to is Kenyon Family History through Azariah 1769-1848, compiled by John R Kenyon, selfpublished in 1999. I've been able to access American Kenyons by Howard Kenyon through ancestry.com, as it's been digitized. Lewis and Lois (Hill) Kenyon (1774-1850) (according to the Schaap Family Tree on Ancestry.com) are linked with Enos and Diana (Johnson) Kenyon (1797-1887). That Lewis Kenyon is listed as 11115 in American Kenyons, but no marriage or descendants are listed for him. So I'd be interested in the Kenyon Family History-- if it tracks that Lewis Kenyon's descendants.
With thanks,
David

Dear David,
I have a copy of Captain Howard N. Kenyon's 1935 book entitled American Kenyons, published by The Tuttle Company in Rutland, VT. Offset versions (like mine) are available.
I have checking the book's index and no mention of an Enos Kenyon. Plenty of Enoch's, but none in your time frame or with the wives' or children's names you mentioned.
Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance. You might want to contact Richard R Kenyon at either RicherRKenyon@msn.com or RRKenyonGen@cs.com: he's the only Kenyon expert that I know.
Best regards,
R. His dates are 1797-1887 (His daughter Susan is my mother's mother's mother (I like the Swedish way of doing this!).

I have found three possible sets of parents: Lewis/Louis and Lois (Hill) Kenyon; Lewis and Hannah Kenyon; or a David Kenyon. I have no authoritative information on any of the parents.

I also wonder if the Michigan death date belongs to the Enos Kenyon b1800 MA.

Thanks for considering my request, David

Hi! Did you ever sell the Kenyon book? If not, can you tell me if it includes an Enos and Diana (Johnson) Kenyon and their family? Their family includes Susan, George, Harry, Harriet, Charles and John (b 1829-1845, the first in Mexico, Oswego, NY, the last in Coldwater, Branch, MI). (I'm one eighth Kenyon, my mother Alice Smith, being one quarter Kenyon, her mother, Lilla Briggs, being Susan's daughter).
I'm interested in connecting Enos Kenyon (1797-1887) with his parents in a somewhat authoritative way. I've found three different possible sets of parents for Enos. One is Lewis/Louis and Lois (Hill) Kenyon; another a David Kenyon; another Lewis and Hannah (unknown) Kenyon.
If it goes in that direction, into Oswego county, NY, and Branch county, MI, I'd really be interested in the book or a photocopy.

With thanks, David

Searching for information on Robert Edward Kenyon born July 13, 1908 in Herkimer, NY. I have the birth certificate to prove date & place of birth. He was the son of Clarence Kenyon & Margaret (Hill) Kenyon. Robert had a sister Bethel Kenyon who married Carl Baker, they lived in Ithaca NY. Robert came to Baltimore Maryland abt 1937, he married Violet C. Kohler abt 1939, they are my parents. Robert worked for Glen L. Martin for a short time, not sure of dates. I may be the only child of Robert, my DOB 3/1/43. Robert disappeared sometime around 1949, then in 1959 he made a short visit abt a week to his sister (Bethel) in Ithaca NY. never to be heard from again. I think he did not participate in the SS program due to his life style. I wish to learn if Robert had other children. If anyone has information I would appreciate it.

I'm the one who obtained the manuscript from the author's heirs, edited it, and distributed it to a few Kenyon researchers in June of 1991. It is a Microsoft Word document of about 72 pages. E-mail me at RichardRKenyon@msn.com and I can e-mail you a copy as a set of attached .doc files. In general, I found the manuscript disappointing in quantity and quality of information.
Looking for information regarding John S and Harriet L. They are buried in Trinity Cemetery in NYC.
from the vault;
Harriet L. Kenyon DOD 2-10-1872
John S. Kenyon DOD 1-23-1882
Don't have birth dates but would guess 1805-1815 based on census records.

Think there is a link between Harriet and Charles Willson, as he is buried in the vault with them and his wife. The surving Kenyon children authorized his burial there.
The Willson family was in NYC till 1840's when they moved to Rochester.

Any help would be appreciated.

Bill

Searching for information on Mrs. Hannah Lawson Kenyon (b. abt 1841, d. aft. 1910) of Groton and Montville, CT. Any help is appreciated. Hannah was the daughter of Martin Lawson and Eleanor Conely Mayo Collyer of NYC and Groton and was identified in various estate records as Hannah Kenyon. I have census records for her in Groton in 1850 & 1860 and in Montville in 1910, but little more - I have nothing on her husband or children. The 1910 census record lists her as widowed, mother of 8 children, 3 of whom were still living. Again, any help is appreciated. Thanks, Charlie Black

Re: Lost Freeman Kenyon in 1840 Erie Co., NY

This is seven years since you posted your question, but I do believe I have found some information on your lost Freeman Kenyon of Erie County, New York.

The 1820 Census shows a listing for Fruman (sic)P. Kinyon of Holland, Niagara, New York, age range 45 and up. Niagara became Erie County not long after this census was taken. Also listed is Arnold Kinyon of Holland, Niagara, whom you also inquired about. He is listed in the age range of 26-44. In addition, there is also a Samuel Kinyon on the line right above Fruman (Freeman), listed in the age range of 45 and up.

Perhaps you can help me. I am also interested in these Kinyons, as I am trying to track down information about my gg grandfather, Lyman Kenyon /Kinyon/ Kinion.

Lyman alternates, on his census records, the reporting of the birthplace of his father. Sometimes he lists it as New York and other times as Wales. It has been suggested that perhaps his father was born in Wales, New York. Since there is nothing to support that he was born in Wales of the United Kingdom, then my attention has turned to these little known Kinyons / Kenyons of Holland and Wales, Erie County (formerly Niagara County), New York.

I'm looking for someone who has access to a copy of "The Author's Supplement to American Kenyons" by H.N. Kenyon who can scan or copy about 3-5 pages. I've seen very few references to this book, but one reference says that it contains the information that I'm looking for.

The pages that I believe contain the information I need are 17, 18 and 34 concerning William Kenyon (1758-1837). These pages should contain information on the family of William Kenyon son of David Kenyon and Mary Potter, including William's sons Avery and Allen. There may be one additional page covering William's death.

I have a Peter Maclure (1815-1892) in my tree who described himself as a retired draper in the 1881 census (for Ealing, Middlesex). Peter was born in Kirkcowan, Wigtownshire and his father Samuel McClure (1774-1828) was a farmer in Derry (also in Kirkcowan). I have not come across a Robert Maclure until now, but there may be a connection.

Martin.

Peggy:

I too have extensive information on at least one particular line of Kenyon dating back to Rhode Island in 1684 and working through New York and then on to Illinois by the 1850s and eventually to Michigan.

Do you have any information about the earliest Kenyons.

Looking for Harry Earl Kenyon Sr. Ancestors

My grandfather was Harry Earl Kenyon. He was born in 1890 in Pueblo Colorado. His mothers name was Florence, however she went by Virginia and "Jennie". Virginia was her middle name. She also used the name Read (Rhead, Reade, Reed). (The family bible shows his mother as both Florence Virginia Read and "Jennie" Read, but my grandmother, Winnie, mis-spelled names and often recorded the wrong dates.) I was told when I was a child Jennie had been a travelling stage actress and met Harrys dad in Texas or somehwere in the south. I found a 1910 census showing my Grandfather,Harry, and his mother together in Portland Oregon, and she listed herself as a widow. My grandfather was 20. He married my grandmother Winnie V Rambo in 1912 and they lived the rest of their lives in Portland Oregon. I know that Harry moved around a lot as a child and I can't find any records of his Father. I am not sure if Kenyon was his mothers maiden name or her married name. No birth certificate is available for Harry in Colorado, I have already checked. Harry on 1920 census, listed his father as born in England, but his mother stated on the 1910 census that he was born in New York. She was born in about 1863 in Pensyvania (per census reports), so I think his dad was lkely about the same age. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I am trying to compile a complete list of all the descendants of Confederate American Civil War veterans living in Australia and New Zealand. It will be part of a book on the Confederates from these countries. If anyone could provide me with the names, city and state in which any of these descendants live it would be greatly appreciated. Please include information as to how you know they are descendants. jamesmgray@bigpond.com

My father was George A Shultz, my mother Orpha Jean Yeager. I am Junior. What relationship, if any do we have? Any and all info you have on this line I would appreciate. Anything I can do for you needs only to be asked. I never saw a picture of my grandfather, Leroy, until I saw your postings of the wedding pics. Thank you very much.
