Kruse from Hundeshagen, Thuringia w/ family in Greenville, MS

Wilhelm Kruse (Krause in earlier generations) and his family came from Hundeshagen, Thuringia, to Lafayette IN in 1895. He is said to have come at the urging of a brother or uncle who was already farming in the states, perhaps in the area of NE. He stopped briefly in Greenville MS to see family; his wife's maiden name was Gimpel. Does any of this sound familiar?

Sarah and Leticia
Several years ago I was looking for the Kruses in Argentina. I saw a message from Leticia and she spoke of a Johann Kruse. Since I do genealogy as a hobby I have the names of the Kruses in my husband and Sarah's family. There was Peder Kruse that lived in Veidma, Argentina, K. V. who ended up in North Bend Oregon, Ramus Kruse who came to the US and lived in Wilmington CA ( never found him in the census so am not sure if he stayed in the US or went back to Denmark) and their sister Helene that married a man by the surname of Lauritz. Their mother came to the US after she became a widow. Our Kruses were from Korsor, Denmark. Don't have the genealogy result at our summer cabin so will let you know more info after I get home.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Barilynn

If you could send me an email there I would be happy to compile a name and address list and send it more privately. Please put Kruse in the subject line so that I don't delete it. :)
Maryann (Kruse) Beach

May I ask how you are related before sharing the information. I would like to make sure it is ok with them to share. I am in touch often with Clarence and Robert (my dad) and both of these two have email. I also have contact information for William and Ellen who don't do computers. As for Frances.... I can't find her or her children (my cousins). We have not heard from Aunt Fran since shortly after my grandfather passed away. I have tried finding her or her kids through searches with no luck.

So I put in Stiles, and it shows over 1200.

So you can put your Stiles Family Link on these message boards, or just send it to me at ftornado at cox dot net.

Thanks

I remember Aunt Lizzie and Uncle Ed very well. They were always over at my grandparents house. My grandmother loved Aunt Lizzie dearly. I don't remember meeting any of their children although I am sure that I did. Please contact me over my email and I can send you an invitation to view my tree posted on ancestry.com and I can also email you what information I have in a Word document on the Kruse family. Your husband and I are some sort of cousins. My email address is guineamamma79@yahoo.com .

They moved to Nebraska soon after their marriage. If you email me at Llkruse@aol.com, I will send you all the info I have about the family. Also, I will contact another of the Damsen family and send along your information. She is doing a lot of research on the Damsen side of the family as well the Kruse family. She'd probably love to hear from you! You & I don't live all that far apart. I'm close to Lapeer so maybe we can even get together sometime and exhange photos.

We still have relatives in the thumb area and Saginaw. I currently live in St. Clair Shores. Karen

Dear Sarah,

This is the first reply I got which seems more close to us.

The only thing my father was sure of was that we were Danish. There's even a little small red book in my house about Denmark. After I started to look for more info on the web we found that we could be German too, so I was lost.

I feel quite helpless because we don't have much more info than that. My grandfather (Juan Claudio Kruse) died when my father was 18 years-old. By that time my father was not interested in his family roots and apparently my grandfather didn't talk much about it.

It's a great story! I'd love to be part of it... great anecdote for grandchildren ; )

If you could ask your aunt more info, it will be great. I'm going to ask my father to draw a familiy tree.

If you are coming to Argentina on January, be prepared for the heat : ) It would be great if we could meet. I live in Rosario, 300 km from Buenos Aires. It's a nice city: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosario,_Santa_Fe

Do you have an alternative email like hotmail?

Hi leticia,
This is very exciting to see your post as I just googled "kruse family in argentina". My family is aware that we had Danish family in Argentina, family that we lost touch with in the early 1900s. This story may sound sensational but i umderstamd it be the truth.

There were two Kruse brothers from Denmark, trained in ship engineering. In the late 1800's they were sailing to San Francisco and ship wrecked off the coast of Argentina (not sure what area and not sure about the crew members). A coastal family took the brothers in and one of the brothers fell in love with one of the family's daughters. He married her and spent the rest of his life in Argentina. I will see if my great aunt knows his name.

The brother, KV Kruse, went on to San Francisco and built ships. He is my great great grandfather. His family continued in the ship building industry and eventualy moved to Oregon. My family is 4 generations in Oregon now.

Interestingly, a Kruse family member from Argentina, named Dagmar (I think) came up from Argentina to visit the US family. This would have been prior to WWII. She brought a gift from the Kruse family from Argentina, a diamond. The diamond was a gift to the first US Kruse son to get married. My grandfather used it as am engagement ring for my grandmother. My grandmother is 87 years old and still wears it.

I will get more details from my great aunt, whose mother was Laura Kruse, grandaughter of KV Kruse.

I was originally googling "Kruse family in Argentina" because my husband and I will be in Argentina on Jamuary 2010 for vacation, my 40th birthday. I wanted to see if we could connect with the long lost Kruse family in Argentina.

Maybe we are related! I will see if I can get more info from my 91 year old aunt.

Hoping we are related,
Sarah

Thank you! That is very helpful. Where would you start to try and track down her pedigree?

Is it possible that Margaret of the 1920 census is a different person than Marguerite of the 1942 draft card? Or is it more likely she was listed incorrectly on the census?

I am new to this so I am just trying to figure out where I start if I want to find out who her parents were. I've found my Boresen line, but not the Kruse line.

Thank you!
In the world war 2 draft card index
Harry Boresen at 109 Skillman Terrace in Fairlawn Bergen county N.J.
No telephone, age 46, he was born in Brooklyn on dec 3 1895
wife listed as Marguerite Boresen of same address. He was working for the Federal Ship and Drydock in Kearny N.J.
This card was signed in 1942 so as of then she was named Marguerite.
--------
You might have had trouble locating her because of the census spelling. In the 1920 Jersey City, N.J. census it looks more like Boreson or Boresue.
All the family was born in N.Y. (Harry and his brother were all born in N.Y. but spoke Norwegian because they parents were born in Norway).
Harry is head of the house age 24
Margaret is 23
Richard son is 4
Lawrence son is 3
by the way in the same apt building is Harry's brother Christian and his family. Harry is a machinist for motor cars and Christian is a machinist for electric company.
They all live at 135 Danfirth Ave in Jersey City, Hudson county N.J.
Thank you for an interestin query.

I'm looking to find information on my great grandmother. We thought her name was Marguerite, but it may have been changed to Margaret somewhere along the line? She married Harry Boresen. She was born between 1890 & 1900 as best I can tell.

Her family came from Norway, but she may have been born in America.

My father-in-laws family came from Russia and settled in the thumb area of Michigan. They (according to the Ellis Island records) were going to the Sebawing area. The mother, Anna Margareth (Demlor) Kruse, passed away shortly after arriving in Michigan. A church in Pigeon has records of her death but I am unable to actually get a death record of any kind so we're assuming she's buried there at a church instead of in Sebawing area where a lot of other family records are. George Andreas, the husband, remarried (Katarina Damsen) and moved to Nebraska with the entire family. Names of the children are: Maria Katharina, Peter R, Phil, Anna, Christian Benjamin, Heinrich, Louise, Marie Mary, Marie Katherine, and Maria Elizabeth.

Any connections anywhere??

Fritz,
I did mistype my grandmother's, Ellen LaVerna Kruse Worthy,
date of birth. It is 15 May 1898. However, I've assumed that Noine (1900 Census), Norena (1910 Census)maiden name was Harvey. I know for a fact that LaVerna lived with them and have a photograph of Cassius and Mary Harvey with the notation LaVerna's grandparents. I also have letters that were sent to my grandmother from the Harveys. In the 1910 Census it indicates that Norena's parents' place of birth was Canada/English. So now I need to relook at the Harveys and look into the Sanborns. I appreciate your help

Hi cgreg45,

I think you meant your grandmother LaVerna Kruse was born in 1898 not 1818. See your info on my KRUSE family tree online at RootsWeb WorldConnect Project.
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d...
Hi Beana910,

I have your KRUSE family listed at RootsWeb WorldConnect Project
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d...

These KRUSE ancestors are a "Mystery" Kruse family from old Mecklenburg-Schwerin. I thought they somehow were related to my Kruse from the Neukirchen area of old Mecklenburg-Schwerin, or about 100 miles northwest of Berlin, because they were living near a Trost family in Michigan from that old region of Mecklenburg. However still cannot locate them for certain. I need to find the town in old Mecklenburg-Schwerin to get the church records to get the family details.

We have one Y-DNA result that shows these KRUSE are not related to my KRUSE, but still looking for another male living Kruse to take a test to re-confirm.

Henry Kruse (Frank's grandfather) b. 1824 of old Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany immigrated about 1850. Henry's parents are listed as John and Mary Kruse, the 2 most common first names in Germany, are listed on Henry's death certificate.
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d...

Please contact me, thanks.

Give us some more details, like aprox dates of birth, names, and town in Wisconsin. Have you found them in the census yet, or have any immigration info? Who was your grandfather or what is the oldest Kruse you know of?

I have some Kruse in Wisconsin, see:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~fkruse/
