My Grandfather is Charles LaFayette of Springfield OH. I don't know where he was born. His wife was Edythe (Haley)LaFayette. I am told we are direct decendents of Marquis de LaFayette, but that is not confirmed. Any help would be apprecieated.

I have been told that somehow my grandmother's family is related to LaFayette. Since she immigrated to America from England in the late 1800's, and I have her ancesters at least back to her grandfathers....I have to assume the connection must be in a generation previous to the Marquis. Does anyone have any information on those ancestors?

Gilbert Lafayette, age 17, is listed as being from the Quapaios tribe, and is a student at the Choctaw Academy in Scott County, Kentucky, 1838.

My grandfather,s name was Alcide Armond Lafayette. I was told we have decended from a g,g,grandfather who lived on a reservation in Canada. I don't know grandpa's parents names, but my mother, Dorothy Theresa Lafayette, was born in Rhode Island. My grandpa and grandma lived in New York when mom was small and then in New Jersey. Virginia Negro slave living in New Kent Co., Va.; effective spy for General Lafayette; given his freedoom by state of Virginia in 1786 as reward for his services; took Lafayette's name for his surname.

My great grandmother was Agnes Lafayette. She was born August 2, 1866 in Waterbury, CT. She died July 19, 1923 in Schenectady, NY. Her mother was Margaret "Peggy" Tuite (born March 6, 1829); I don't know her father's first name, just his surname - Lafayette. Agnes married Robert Leishman (b. March 25, 1865, San Francisco, CA; d. March 18, 1936, Schenectady, NY).

Hello. I am looking for the parents of my great-great-grandmother, Winnie Hendrick, last name also spelled Hendricks or Hendrix in family records. She was born April 13, 1876, in MO (probably Lafayette or Ray counties) and died April 6, 1946, in Wellington, Lafayette County, MO. On March 31, 1896, in Ray County, MO, she married Samual Francis Hufford. He was born July 11, 1871, in Lafayette County, MO, and died May 2, 1941, in Wellington. They had a total of ten children: Henry William, Carrie M., Alfred, Elva Cassie (my great-grandmother), Velma, John Morton, Leona, Otto, Robert, and Omer.

If is believed Winnie's father ran away from home about the age of 16 and ended up in Missouri where he married and settled down. According to Velma Hufford-Karow (daughter of Winnie), her brother Henry William Hufford was named for his grandfather's. Since Samual Hufford's father was named William, it is possible Winnie's father was a Henry. The surname could have also been spelled Hendricks or Hendrix at one time as both appear in family records.

In addition to Winnie, her parents also had five other daughters: Louisa, Sarah, Becky, Kate, and "Sis". These names were given by Winnie's daughter, Velma, and she only remembered what her aunts were called within the family. She also stated Louisa married a Danner, Becky married a Mansell, Kate was married twice (to a Burglin and a Suitor), and "Sis" married a King.

This is the only information I have available on this part of my family. If anyone recognizes these names or has more information, please e-mail me directly or post a reply message.

Looking for information about my great great grandparents. My gg grandmother, Margaret Tuite (b. March 6, 1829; d. ?; parents: James and Bridget Tuite) married a Lafayette. Unfortunately, I don't know his first name or where they were from. Their daughter, my great grandmother, was Agnes Lafayette. He was born in 1836 in Monroe County area of Michigan. Family lived prior to that time in Detroit where his sister, Laura Jane LaFayette Kane Brown, was born in 1831. Tradition says the family came from Canada. I know not from where they came, probably Montreal. I have published the history of Anthony from 1836 to the present day. William Lafayette Russell was my great grandfather but I can't. go back any further. He was born 1859 and died in 1922 in Tenn. He was married to Nellie Ida Wright B.6/8/1864 D.1/23/1929 who I have traced back to be a second cousin to Sam Houston. William Lafayette Russell had 10 children and they were Charles,Ranson,Frank,W.Floyd (My Grandfather), Wade, Cassie Lou, Nelle,Aileen, Bob, and Roma. My grandparetns, Ethel K. Simpson Lamke and Fred A. Lamke, were part time circus performers around 1910 - 1925 with the Ringling Bros and Barnum Bailey circuses. They were billed as the "Flying Lafayettes". They did high wire and trappeze, but not on a regular basis, just during the summer months. My grandmother died in 1927 when my Mother was just nine years old and there were no docments saved giving any infor on thier marriage, date of birth, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

LaFayette, Edward born in Virginia (1847), lived in Oskaloosa, Mahaska County. Married Louisa Hart and had children all born in Iowa. Black ancestry. Am trying to find name of Edward's father. Edward lived in Muscatine County in 1870 census. My grandfather, Louis was son of Edward & Louisa. He married Lillie Clark (adopted name) who was born in 1884. Both birth parents died while she was a baby. Lillie was either born a Wilson or Jordan. Would like to find her birth parent's names.
